Huge Gang Brawl In Manassas Park?

By Greg L | 3 June 2008 | Manassas Park, Crime | 51 Comments

The evening of Saturday, May 24th may have been a lot more exciting in Manassas Park than local papers have lead us to believe.  The developing story that the local papers entirely missed was that several hundred members of MS-13 and the South Side Locos faced off against each other that evening on Manassas Drive near the intersection with Denver Drive.  A local resident said they contacted the Manassas Park Police Department, which is only a few blocks away from the site of the incident, and the gang-bangers scattered when they heard the police approaching.  By the time the police arrived on the scene, there was no one there.

I’m certain the police were thankful it went down this way.  I can’t imagine how eager a patrol unit or two would have been to confront what was reported to be three hundred gang-bangers in the midst of a gang war.  Such a group would have dwarfed the entire roster of officers on duty that evening.

Something like this must have been noticed by more than the one person I heard this story from.  If you’ve got any information on this, I’d sure like to hear about it.  With hundreds of people duking it out on one of the main streets in Manassas Park, there have got to be more people who saw this and have more details.

This is a prime reason for getting rid of ALL illegals, not only in this area but the country as well. Think things are bad now? Wait till their ninos and ninas come of gang age.

This is why you don’t turn on the siren unless there’s traffic you need to get out of your way….

Incidentally, there is a Police Call Log at the Manassas Park PD which is all public information, maybe someone could go take a look at the page for May 24…or FOIA it.

Just doing the gang brawling that American kids refuse to do….

Maybe it was a reinactment of West Side Story (summer stock?), except this time it was the Hispanics vs. the…Hispanics.

What was that Michael Jackson song back in the 80’s when he had the street gang dance-fight in the video? Beat It?

Help me out folks, I am running out of material here.

Maybe a little UAV loaded with tear gas would have done the stealthy trick. Maybe MP should invest in those instead of a stupid Rec center.

JC, Is it so hard to believe that on a quiet residential street in the middle of the night a gang brawl might go unseen. Or even more likely, unreported out of fear of retaliation? The man who reported it to the police was awakened and viewed approximately 300 fighting hispanic men. Just one person willing to stand up can make the difference. There is something smoldering in our community. When it leaps into flame on your street will you stand up, JC?

Viewers in this state are no longer able to critically evaluate, discern, or pass judgementfrom their own moral database on the material being viewed. The information just flows, unimpeded, into their subconscious year in and year out.”

I sincerely hope that you Park residents keep a gun and a cell phone in the car. Run if you can, fight if you have to. If 300 illegal aliens can network quietly enough to gang fight in the middle of the night, they are
capable of much more. Good thing they’re too stupid to realize it.

  20. j said on 3 Jun 2008 at 4:47 pm:

If it really was 300 people would have been a good opportunity to take them all in one shot. then again, maybe letting them fight it out would have thinned the ranks a bit.

    Ok, UMM:

I think you are naive about the information flow that you receive by the MJM and your police dept.

I’ll give you an example. BVBL reported on 12/26/07 that on Xmas day a strong arm robbery had taken place at the El Espino Lounge in Manassas Park. Patrons were robbed and at least one waitress was pistol whipped. The perps were two hispanic males. This was not reported by the MJM. When BVBL reoprted this the comment section was chocked full of sceptical harumpfing and disbelief. Similar to the logic you embrace today. ( Unless you see multiple press releases. It must be a lie. ) The MJM has an agenda. No less than any blog.

Here’s proof. The following video link shows the waitresses and patrons running for their lives past video surveillance cameras in the Manassas Park Shopping Center. At the time BVBL chose not to show this publically out of concern to not impede any MPPD investigation. The perps were never ID’d even though over 40 patrons witnessed and or were victimized by them.

    http://s75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/babydoc2006/?action=view&current=ElEspinoChristmasArmedRobbery.flv

My point is that BVBL is often way ahead of the curve when it comes to crime in our community. Just ’cause you don’t read it elsewhere don’t assume it’s a false story. UMM, If the truth doesnt fit your view of the illegal alien issue, you can always read the MJM.

In all HONESTY, I have to question the NUMBER of the gathering. Several hundred? 300?
Even if a call was made and they all heard the sirens and scattered, you mean to tell me that not ONE was caught and questioned, etc? If you look at the area, there are allot of obstacles in a persons way and cannot hide that easy. I did see the tagging of MS13 on the NEW 7-11 on Manassas Drive that is situated right across from the police station yesterday as I bought my coffee and lotto tickets.

  29. AWCheney said on 3 Jun 2008 at 9:40 pm:

You forget Red Dawn…it happened in Manassas Park.

  30. Also in the Park said on 3 Jun 2008 at 9:44 pm:

What time did this occur on the 24th. My reason for asking is we live 4 houses from the police station, and 4 neighbors and us were out talking till around 2 and not once did we see any police go by us, or for that matter hear any sirens from Manassas Dr.
And yes we were in a front yard and our street is the main one the police use to get to Manassas Dr, so if they were responding from the police station we would have seen something.

Not saying that nothing occured, the only thing i find very hard to believe is that 300, or now the several hundred it’s beeb changed to, people disappered into thin air by the time the police showed up.

On a regular basis we will see the police responding to calls in the late evening, and the vast majority of the time no sirens are on until they hit Manassas Dr, lights yes but not sirens. From where they would enter Manassas Dr to Devner is approx 15-20 second drive.

Something just dosen’t add up here, if someone can provide some hard proof fine, until then i’ll take this as what i’m reading into it

Despite you all hating your local newspaper there were OBVIOUSLY not 300 people in a gangfight. Your eagerness to believe ANYTHING involving people who may or may not EXIST while knowing NOTHING about their citizenship is alarming….

  32. Bayberry resident said on 3 Jun 2008 at 10:10 pm:

I have a real hard time believing this happened as described. Kind of sounds like maybe someone didn’t get their facts straight. Kind of like the teacher info at Dean Elementary. My belief is you can’t always believe what you read in the newspaper or on the blogs. I always like reading this blog because it usually has some interesting info and interesting if not unusual people who post. However, recently, this blog has not been much better the the Journal Mess. Like some other people said on here, I don’t doubt something happened, but 300 is kinda far fetched. I wish Greg would get some facts straight before starting a fire storm. In addition, I really am getting tired of reading on here how incompetent (sp?) the MPPD officers are. While I think that there are bad apples on all the area departments, I think the overwhlming men and woman are honest, hardworking and do a job that many of us wouldn’t do. So why don’t we all give them a break!

  37. No1Uknow said on 4 Jun 2008 at 11:08 am:

    1. There’s enough abandoned houses on Denver/Manassas that 300 members could hide no problem. They just have to make sure the door shut enough so it doesn’t look like they kicked it in.

    2. Who says they were all in one giant spot? Couldn’t it have been smaller groups all up and down the road?

Not saying it didn’t happen, since there’s been gang activity everywhere that no one catches right away. But first-hand accounts would help.

This is such BS. This blog is so racist and negative, blah, blah, blah…did you all like manassas park when our kids went to school in cardboard depressing buildings and the steel fabricated rec-center is a real prize right? Oh I know none of you lived here when there was no blooms crossing and the toothless white trash couldn’t raise funds for better schools and better services. I don’t see why people can’t be grateful for the improvements, grateful for a small community…I could care less what PWC tax rates are as long as my kids don’t go to those schools. Why don’t you move to fairfax county pick a neighborhood that is all white, and live in secluded bliss…then your kid can go to highschool with 900 other kids and be another number.
Why not? Cause you really aren’t rich enough…you pretend your blooms house makes you something, and it might in Manassas park, but in Fairfax you’d be living in a 1980s townhouse at best. 300 mexicans my ass.

  40. MP Resident said on 4 Jun 2008 at 3:41 pm:

Sounds like someone has a real issue with Blooms Crossing. My view is that we’re all in this together, let’s work to solve these problems and let’s be honest and admit that there are some problems–on BOTH sides of the city, the new AND the old.

I don’t know about the veracity of this story, however, gangs are a real issue all over the Northern VA area right now. It is certainly not a problem unique to MP, yet MP is not immune from it either.

Hate to bring in a reality check but frankly just 2 strange guys, let alone 10, fighting or facing off in the street in front of my house would be of huge concern to me. Might be 300 might not. Whether there were 2 or 10 or 300 makes no difference to me, the issue is the same. Was it in fact gang related or not? There is someone somewhere who knows the truth about this event. Round up the participants and put them on ICE.

Kind of interesting with the amount of people questioning this how there has been no followup of any kind to the original topic. Makes one think that someone might be thinking they were given a tip/story that might not be entirely true.

  46. MP Resident said on 4 Jun 2008 at 9:43 pm:

There is a stream bed and what looks to be a wooded area that intersects Denver Drive right near it’s intersection with Manassas Drive. This wooded area/stream bed continues all the way to Amherst Drive and then to the Bull Run.

Is it possible that 300 people could have disappeared into this wooded area? From the satellite view I see on Google Maps, maybe. I’d like to do an on-site check but it’s a little dark for that right now.

  47. sahdman said on 5 Jun 2008 at 11:48 pm:

I guess they come to Manassas Park because if they get caught in Prince William County they would get deported. 300 gang members sounds like a lot and it does sound like it could be an exaggerated number. But on the other hand we do have over 2000 ms13 gang members in the Northern Virginia area. I don’t know how many SSL there are. But if they are having a major “turf war” getting 300 together doesn’t sound to far fetched.

  48. El Guapo said on 8 Jun 2008 at 12:45 pm:

Ok so someone claims to have seen several hundred people, and somehow they were able to determine that they were MS-13 and Southside Locos involved in a gang battle. They called the police who were only a few blocks away, and when they arrived there were no MS-13 members nor Southside Locos nor was there any evidence of a gang battle. And there were no othere known witnesses.

And the media is criticized for having “missed” this event.

I’m not in journalism, but it is my understanding that something that takes place solely within someone’s imagination is not in and of itself newsworth.

God forbid the police may have been all the way across town answering a stupid call from a citizen that thier neighbor was blocking thier driveway….or the fact that there may have only been two of them working that night and one was tied up with an arrest.

c’mon 300 gang members?? You can’t even get 300 MP citizens to go to city hall during scheduled council meetings to voice thier opinions on critical issues that concern thier own city.
