Sure do remember the Carter years. No hot water in the federal building bathrooms. Most of the time the heat or AC buildings was shut off or so low it did no good. Federal employees having to pay for parking on federal property. Then of course there is the giving away of the Panama canal, turning his back on the Shah of Iran (look were we are today because of that one incident), U.S. embassy hostages taken and held for over a year and the list goes on. Bush is one of the worst but Carter holds the alltime low.

Yes, I love the flag. I received a flag after my husband died, because he was in the Army during WWII, but I don’t have a flagpole to fly it. I’m hoping, though, that one of my grandchildren will be able to hoist it and treat it with the respect that is its due. (BTW my daughter was an officer in the Army until she had children)

Just because you don’t wear the flag in your lapel doesn’t mean you don’t honor it. As a matter of fact, the flag is being desecrated in so many ways nowadays. Imagine having a flag as a bathtowel and lie on it half naked; or wear swim trunks or a sweaty bandana with the flag pattern.

I remember in the late 60s, one of my kids’ class mates was sent home because he had sewed a big flag patch on his sweat shirt. That was considered desecrating the flag in those days.

Obama is just what we need to usher in a new wave of conservatism. A legitimate third party is not even out of the question.
