Mexicans Without Borders Gets Dumber
By Greg L | 8 June 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Prince William County | 26 Comments
The utterly goofy reasoning of Mexicans Without Borders is on full display in their press release regarding the visit of U.N. official Jorge Bustamante this week. Once again, they offer non-specific and entirely unsubstantiated accusations against Prince William County, but this time claim that the Rule of Law Resolution specifically violates a United Nations International Convention regarding migrants. How they supposedly come to that conclusion is utterly impossible to determine, however.
Since the passage of this resolution, the human rights condition of immigrants in Prince William County has deteriorated drastically. It is a basic human right for people to be able to migrate in order to find employment and feed their families. The targeting of immigrants in this county has violated their human rights as recognized by the international community under the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
This convention protects immigrants and their families from abusive treatment, affords legal nonresidents certain rights and protections that are already afforded under U.S. law, and requires that access to the legal system is provided for legal nonresidents. What this convention does not do is protect those who violate a nation’s immigration laws from prosecution, nor does it impose a requirement on signatories to give up their rights to establish criteria governing the admission of migrant workers.
Of particular note is Article 68 of the treaty:
1. States Parties, including States of transit, shall collaborate with a view to preventing and eliminating illegal or clandestine movements and employment of migrant workers in an irregular situation.[ed note: this refers to illegal aliens] The measures to be taken to this end within the jurisdiction of each State concerned shall include:
(a) Appropriate measures against the dissemination of misleading information relating to emigration and immigration;
(b) Measures to detect and eradicate illegal or clandestine movements of migrant workers and members of their families and to impose effective sanctions on persons, groups or entities which organize, operate or assist in organizing or operating such movements;
(c) Measures to impose effective sanctions on persons, groups or entities which use violence, threats or intimidation against migrant workers or members of their families in an irregular situation.
It seems to me that the Rule of Law Resolution, as long as it is equitable and applied equally to all foreign nationals, is specifically permitted under this treaty, not that we should ever need such permission from the United Nations to do this. Mexicans Without Borders is completely confused about the provisions of this Convention, but that doesn’t prevent them from trying to use it as a weapon against the county because the Rule of Law Resolution is an effective policy that discourages illegal aliens from unlawfully residing in our community.
The activities of some might not be so consistent, though.
Today John Steinbach of Mexicans Without Borders came to the 7-11 on Coverstone Drive to meet with the day laborers, and held a question and answer session with them, with Gaudencio Fernandez as his translator. Steinbach then spent some time on his cell phone giving a report, presumably to Ricardo Juarez, about what had happened. Fortunately, since Steinbach can’t speak Spanish, and when speaking in English he tends to be pretty loud, I was able to overhear substantial portions of his conversation.
His report had some interesting parts. I enjoyed very much him relating how he indicated that Prince William County Police will racially profile Latinos. Although Steinbach isn’t bound by the provisions of this treaty, he certainly isn’t honoring its spirit that he is so desperately, and wrongly, is trying to invoke here. Perhaps invoking that provision in Article 68 (a) and shutting down John Steinbach from ‘disseminating misleading information’ is an opportunity we should explore.

Migrants are trespassers. This area is rapidly turning into a refugee camp. Thank God for PWC taking a stand. At least we know there is one county n the region that will still resemble America when the dust settles.
Just the name Mexicans Without Borders makes my blood boil. Don’t the polliticians realize that IF amnesty is given to THIS batch of illegals it will be a magnet for more people will invade our borders. Enough is enough. No
nNo amnesty.
Unfortunately, there are those apologists who envision our country — our political system and our economic system — as mean-spirited because we have created successfully and have not given what we’ve created to the rest of the world. Also, there are the politicians with their special agendas that are aside from the welfare and desires of their constituents.
What we know as legal immigration is not enough, these elements of society do not honor our country, they want what we have for those less fortunate and they will continue to “chip away” at our resolve. Through their persistence and apathy of way too many citizens, they will cause increasing numbers of Americans to feel guilt…and eventually succumb.
The next 5 - 10 years are going to be very, very painful and dangerous for us…I’m afraid of where it will lead.
Ooops, Anonymous, 8:19 is me…
Doesn’t section 1.b pretty much describe MWB? Perhaps the UN should be questioned about that.
steinbach is an idiot, he’s a fitting representation for the other idiots who call themselves mexicans without borders. nancy lyall is just looking for another cause, now that gays have become more acceptable she’s now attaching herself to illegal immigrants since that cause is “available” once the illegal thing dies down and they are all gone she’ll find something else to do. as for gaudencio fernandez, words cannot express how un-intelligent this man is, he must have been dropped from the stupid truck once too many times as a baby. I cannot forget to mention eric byler, this guy even has his own wikipedia page (no doubt generated by him) that is even flagged for authenticity. does this guy have a legitimate job? if you look at this cast of characters you can only wonder what comedy the future brings us!
Instead of MWB maybe it should be called “MWI” Mexicans without Intelligence.
did Ricardo Juarez ever get deported? Havent seen his sweaty self in awhile….
Although I don’t know these people, you’re surely correct, EM….except for one thing — “…comedy the future brings us” — hardly comical, but I do understand your meaning.
I don’t know, folks, but I don’t think it’s gonna be too funny when we have a nut-job like Obama in the White House and a Democratic Congress. That won’t be comedy, folks. The only good thing about it will be that in 1000 years, Christ should make an appearance!
International Convention Has to do w/Migrant Workers!!
All of these groupr,Mexican with out Borders, Woodbridge Workers and all thos others and the people with them are not Migrant Workers.
Is this the new twist they are going to try and prove?
Need to go back to the History behind this UN statements.
It’s far beyond the timwe to get the UNout of our hair.
This will not fly and it shows more every day, how dumb these leaders are.
Look around, folks. The have-nots want what the haves have. They don’t want to create or sacrifice for the freedoms and opportunities that we enjoy. They want to take advantage of us and steal our way of life. Close the borders. Deport the illegals. Make it very clear to the world that no more immigration will be allowed until the illegals are gone. No amnesty. Halt immigration until we, as a nation, decide who we want to join us and what we will require of them. The rest of the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Too many people, not enough resouces. Do we really want their dregs? Is there anyone who really thinks that they won’t drag us down as well? We can’t save the whole world this time. They can either emulate us and succeed or follow the Hugo Chavezes of the world and sink back into third world chaos and starvation.
Round ‘em up and ship ‘em out!
There is a direct coorelation between the have’s and have not’s with the will’s and will not’s.
…but CONVA, if we handle it properly, we won’t have to “round ‘em up and ship ‘em out.” With the proper incentives, the illegals will see that the land of opportunity is for those immigrants (including myself) who obey the law and work hard to make this country even better. Thus, they will recognize that for them, their home country is easier than it is here.
Freedom-
Well said!
Freedom,
I have said the exact same thing!!
I for one think that it’s great that Mr. Bustamante is coming this week and I happy that Corey Stewart has agreed to see him. Once Mr. Bustamante’s search of human and civil rights violations turns up nothing they will have to move on to the next excuse as to why the resolution is the boogey man.
Someone tell me where the press coverage is
on this crap. Did I miss it somewhere? Nothing in the MJM today….
Time to write some letters to the editors, folks.
I was just wondering something, when Mr. Bustamante is done with his PWC visit how and when is he going to share his findings? I’m pretty sure he will find no human or civil rights violations so it will be interesting to see what he does then. Does he even disclose his findings or does he just fade away and you hear nothing about it because you know if he found anything (which I don’t think will happen) he would be all over the news. So what’s going to happen with nothing turns up, is he really going to go on the news and say there is nothing wrong with our resolution?
He’ll post his “findings”, which of course will conclude that the Rule of Law Resolution isn’t fair to hard working, law abiding illegal immigrants. Ooops! I meant “migrants of the world”. We’re treating the illegals better and giving them more “rights” than their home countries ever did! Does the Mexican Army let Equadorans see a Judge before they’re robbed, raped and machine-gunned at the southern border of Mexico?
Protesting his visit, or if Corey refusted to meet with him, will only make PWC look as if it has something to hide. Having him come here and having Corey meet with him is the only way to go because he isn’t going to find anything to complain about. I think that we should only get vocal about it if he starts saying things that are not true or he tries to tell us how to enforce the resolution in a different way.
Maybe he can pick up some trash around the 7-Eleven, while he’s here. After all, there’s a good chance that at least a couple of these folks are his countrymen (where there’s a Mexican, there’s Mexico)>

It just got a little tougher to get the grass mowed at the Pentagon, folks.
Let the grass grow.
it’s about damn time. i don’t hire illegal aliens to work at my house. i object to them working at my workplace.
