In today’s WaPo, there is an article about Muslims in Northern VA “reaching out” to the immigrant community. PR gesture?

For years, the Dar al Hijrah mosque was an isolated, slightly mysterious presence in Falls Church — a stark stone building hidden behind a row of trees, rarely visited by non-Muslims in the multi-ethnic Culmore neighborhood, and known mostly for traffic jams on Leesburg Pike as worshipers arrived for Friday prayers.

These days, the mosque bustles with visitors chattering in Spanish and Vietnamese as well as Persian and Urdu. Immigrants from a dozen countries gather there each Thursday, many with toddlers and baby strollers, to pick up donated chicken, bread, fruit and vegetables.

‘Dhimmitude’ is when someone peacefully surrenders to the Islamic army, obtaining the security for their life, belongings and religion, but they have to accept a condition of inferiority, spoliation and humiliation. Islamic law specifies a specific tax to be levied on a Dhimmi as a way for them to express their appreciation for being allowed to live in an islamic state and not be imprisoned or killed.

Dhimmitude is about the most polar opposite from the American spirit as one could possibly imagine.

Wake up, folks. According to Muslims, any non-Muslim is a fair target. They’ve been at war with Christians for a thousand years. They’re just getting their numbers back, since we seriously depleted them during the Crusades. For some reason, they hold a grudge for a LONG time.

I know there was an incredibly low voter turn-out on Tuesday, but when I went into my voting center, I was the only one there, and had been for some time. And only 1 person showed up as I was loading the kids and I back into the car to leave. I normally vote after work and in all other elections, there were a minimum of 20 other people there. Makes you wonder how much of the low turn-out in my area was due to poor “advertising” and what was due to a high concentration of conservatives who didn’t want to vote in a Democratic primary.

I’m in Fairfax County but in the 8th district. I think the “planners” go out and get drunk, then draw lines on the map and that is how the districts are redrawn.

At one time, I was in Frank Wolf’s district, now I’m in Moran’s - talk about a huge let down.

Since all I could vote for on Tuesday was the 11th district Democratic Primary, I made sure that I did NOT vote for Connolly.

On a slightly unrelated note, could anyone explain to me how districts are drawn? They don’t seem to be drawn against any real jurisdictional lines….like PWC seems to be split between 10th and 11th, yet it seems that most of FFXC is within the 11th district?
