Illegal Alien Fights Extradition

The DC Examiner is reporting that illegal alien Milton Calderon-Melendez, who is currently being held in the Prince William County Adult Detention Center after being detained as part of the county’s crackdown on illegal aliens, has an extradition hearing today that will almost certainly decide to transfer him to Montgomery County where he will stand trial for attempted murder. In yet another example of how stupid criminals can be, Calderon-Melendez believes that if he somehow can avoid extradition, Prince William County will turn him over to ICE and have him deported back to El Salvador rather than face a trial in Montgomery County. Although it is infinitely unlikely that Prince William County would ever ask to retain custody of this criminal illegal alien, it would be amusing if he were turned over to ICE which might then hold him in Maryland, at which point I am sure they would be happy to see this individual face trial.
What is bothersome here is what might happen to this individual once he is tried in Maryland. If this individual is found not guilty, Montgomery County authorities will almost certainly release this individual, who unless he happens to get caught in Prince William County again will probably be able to evade deportation while residing in Maryland indefinitely. If he is found guilty and serves a sentence, it’s also probable that instead of being deported, he will be released back into the community at the end of his sentence. The disturbing reality here is that once Prince William County releases this person into Maryland’s custody, it’s pretty much only a matter of time before this illegal alien is walking our streets, somewhere, again.
Illegal alien crime has a troubling, albeit understandable tendency to not respect political boundaries. A day laborer from Annandale murdered a Montgomery County man. An illegal alien murder suspect in Manassas was recently apprehended in Connecticut, and an illegal alien who committed a triple homicide in Woodbridge was caught in New Jersey. Just because Prince William County has responsibly addressed the issue of criminal illegal aliens does not prevent illegal aliens coming into our area after enjoying the lax policies that other jurisdictions employ. These other jurisdictions need to get their act in gear here, since relative sanctuaries endanger not only their own residents, but residents in neighboring jurisdictions as well. At least it is unlikely that there will be a lot of illegal aliens suspected of committing violent crimes coming to Prince William County to hide out. They go elsewhere, where law enforcement doesn’t command the same level of respect.
It should be interesting to see what Calderon-Melendez says to the press after this hearing. I haven’t seen too many illegal aliens praise the policies of Prince William County as being more humane than those of Montgomery County, MD lately, even if those praises are based in ignorance.

Not so unusual. Several states are cleaning out their prisons/jails and deporting rather than letting illegals take up space. Let’s face it, does anyone think that he’ll get the death penalty in the People’s Republic of Maryland?

I’m surprised the infamous Don Pepe Tejada has not already asked a court to have Calderon-Melendez escorted to our “Taj Mahal” jail facility for own protected comfort and sanctuary.
Considering the visibility of this case I have no doubt that regardless of the outcome of the criminal case in MD this gentleman will be deported — which is how things should work. MD should obtain justice and then seek deportation.
Montgomery Co Maryland? They’ll probably just free him back onto the streets. Heck, they’ll probably provide him with a weapon if he needs one.

The PRMD (Peoples Repulik of Maryland) is a gun-free zone. No gun crime occurs in MD - it’s against the law! I doubt ICE will let such an easy target get away so easily.

Not true (but close). I have a couple buddies in the PRM that own lots of guns, and quite legally. It *is*, however, one of the most restrictive of the States.
