A Local Business Owner Pleads For Help

By Greg L | 18 June 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Crime, Prince William County | 52 Comments

Help Save Manassas has been busy at day laborer sites in Prince William County over the past few days, spending time in Woodbridge this past weekend, and then this morning at the 7-Elevens in Yorkshire on Old Centreville Road and Coverstone Drive today.  We’ve documented quite a few people picking up day laborers, the evidence of which should be of great interest to federal authorities, and reported some unlawful behavior to the Prince William County Police which is increasingly regarding the Crime Prevention Team as a valuable partner.  When county police show up in response to a public urination or drinking in public complaint as they did today, it is amazing the extent to which the day laborers quickly clear out.

At the end of the team’s shift at the Coverstone 7-Eleven, the business owner came out to have a chat with us and thanked us profusely for coming to help.  He said he had been begging the Prince William County Police Department for help for many months, and about all he ever got was a squad car parked in his lot for a few days which did little to solve the problem once the day laborers figured out that the officer wasn’t going to do anything about them.  He’s called the property owner of the adjacent vacant property where the day laborers congregate after he runs them off his property at least a hundred times, and nothing has happened.  He told us that the only thing that seems to have made any impact so far is when citizens show up to document Americans hiring day laborers which significantly seems to the activity.  He would really like to see a lot more of Help Save Manassas out in front of his store, in the hopes that it will discourage so many illegal aliens from co-opting his place of business as their spot to hang out and trash the place.

The presence of day laborers has significantly harmed his business, and dramatically damaged the profitability of this store.  In his opinion, for every day laborer that thinks he’s entitled to hang out in front of or next to his store, it reduces his customer base by fifty people, which sometimes translates into a daily net loss on his daily business operations. The owner of the store is himself an immigrant, a legal one, who isn’t too impressed with the notion that illegal aliens can destroy his business in the name of diversity and compassion towards immigrants.  They seem to have no compassion whatsoever for this non-hispanic immigrant, who involuntarily shoulders the burdens that these day laborers impose.  This business owner is enormously frustrated that local law enforcement will not enforce laws prohibiting the employment of illegal aliens or more vigorously enforce ordinances against loitering and tresspassing, and welcomes whatever help the Crime Prevention Team of Help Save Manassas can provide.

I can’t blame him one bit.  This morning we had some interesting fellows hanging out and adding to the diversity in the area, some adorned with tatoos on their necks and faces that seemed to be gang-related.  Who would want to run a business where customers have to run a gauntlet of these types in order to come into your store?  Probably not many.

Did the usual supects show up to “observe” HSM? Was Eric “I wanna be a skinny Michael Moore” there? Did John “I love Che’ ” on the scene? I wonder if Annable “Bobble-Head” Park will show up to do an after-action interview. You know, the one where she asks a bunch of leading questions and gets responses like this:

“HSM showed up in full military tactical gear and started shouting insults to us, telling us to quit pissing on walls and being drunk at 7:30 am. Then Greg unleashed four german shepard attack-dogs and threw tear-gas grenades, while Maureen Wood hit us with a water cannon. It was all very tramatic. I have to feed my kids, which is why I come here and drink beer in the morning. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”

and then there is a BS text overlay that says:

“HSM denies the accusations, but the details have been confirmed with PWCPD”

Should read: Was John “I love Che’” Steinbach on the scene?

  3. Greg L said on 18 Jun 2008 at 1:37 pm:

At the Longview 7-Eleven we had the full Mexicans Without Borders crew show up — John Steinbach (who called the police, and was very disappointed to see them declare that what we were doing was lawful), Ricardo Juarez, and Teresita Jacincto. We also saw a couple of folks that we think were from CASA de Maryland. We didn’t notice Byler, but he’s pretty pointless anyways and always tries to hide in the bushes or something.

No one from Mexicans Without Borders showed up today at either location.

So this is a franchise, rather than a corporate-owned store? I know in past posts it wasn’t very clear in regard to who actually owned the store.

Byler is either hiding in the bushes, or the closet whatever the case may be. as for annabel, she’s about equally useless.

Those guys are out there every day. it’s sad to hear that the store owner can’t get the police to help. I thought loitering was illegal. At least it is for non-Hispanics.

Who owns that property next door? How can we contact them?

    Advocator,

I agree because it just lowers the blog to their level.

When I went by the Coverstone 7-11 this morning, I saw more people loitering than usual. I would say close to 40 maybe even 50. I counted 35 before the light changed. This was around 8AM this morning.

  10. Robert T. Molleur said on 18 Jun 2008 at 2:30 pm:

HSM should contact the owner of the lot adjacent to the Coverstone 7-11 to get permission to landscape the area for free and turn it into a “tribute” to honor fallen war veterans.

I surmise a myraid of local businesses would donate labor and materials to the cause.

HSM could manage this and get it done with volunteers on one Saturday.

Turn it into a place of honor and force the illegals to piss on Amercia elsewhere.

We have made several calls to the owner of the adjacent property on Coverstone. We haven’t had any luck with return phone calls though.

Here is the number for those of you who want to complain:

Property is called Promenade at Manassas

    Phone: 800-680-9095

the 7-11 owner is right about losing business due to the loiterers…when I first moved to PWC, I lived in the Carlisle Station apts across 234…and used to go to that 7-11 all the time because it was close. Then as time went on, and more and more men loitered about, I stopped going there because I didn’t appreciate the obnoxious and lewd comments shouted at me as I walked up and entered the store.
Interesting that when the resolution was passed, the loitering around the nearby Walmart and Home Depot nearly disappeared, yet this poor 7-11 is still suffering. Glad to hear he appreciates HSM’s efforts!

I live on rt.1 and when I first moved here my wife and I went to the 7-11 (at the corner of the prkway and rt.1) and there were about 30 guys just standing around. As we walked in most were staring at my wife and talking about her in Spanish. I never go there anymore when I’m with her and I don’t allow her to go alone because I fear for her safety. I can see how these types of places would lose business because nobody wants to deal with it. I’ve also had a similar experience at the other 7-11, next to Rico’s Taco’s.

It started to get better after the resolution passed but it seems like it’s starting back up again at the one close to the prkway. It seems like I’m seeing more and more guys each week. Maybe you all could do the same thing at my 7-11(s)?

Ignoramus? Idiot? If these do not qualify as personal attacks then your powers to hold yourself to the standard you apply to others leaves much to desire. If you can so quickly forget your words of 24 hours ago, your powers of memory have surely deteriorated to near-dementia levels. This is an ominous sign for your health. For your sake, I advise you to urgently seek medical attention before you deteriorate to the point where you no longer notice when you have relieved yourself in your drawers, and find it a common day occurrence to lounge on the ground in your own feces with disheveled hair and a gaping mouth while a long strand of drool hangs from the corner of your gaping mouth and extends all the way to floor to mix the the urine pooled under your seat while your hands fidget uncontrollably with your private parts.

You know that graffiti at the old centreville building has been there for 4 months or so and nobody has done anything about it. I see PWC police drive by there at least once a week so surely the county must be aware of it by now! Why hasn’t it been cleaned? Why has that building been under construction for at least the last year with little to no progress? That place is a serious eyesore and is a very unwelcome reminder that you have officially crossed over from Fairfax County into PWC…

  30. DPortM said on 19 Jun 2008 at 9:41 am:

The process for graffiti is to call the Police Non-Emergency # 703-792-6500. The police come out and take pictures, then they notify the appropriate department for clean-up (in this case - zoning because it is private property).
A complaint needs to be filed with Neighborhood Services (zoning). The owner’s of this property will be put on notice to clean it up - if they don’t respond - the County via the Clean Community Council will handle it.

Anonymous, will you turn this in to the appropriate authorities?

  31. Questioning reader said on 19 Jun 2008 at 11:34 am:

Interesting pictures of the graffiti in the building under construction. Did you have permission to be on that property and go inside the building, or are you above the law and trespass when you feel like it to get your point across.

Kinda funny, you are out to document “illegals”, while you yourself are technically breaking the law by trespass, in order to get your graffiti pic’s. I wonder if the owner of the site, or the police would be interested in that little fact.

[Ed note: you are a blithering idiot. I watched the photographer in question walked over to the site, talk with the construction workers, and take the photos. What in the heck prompts you to spin up some crazy theory that someone broke the law without any evidence whatsoever that such a violation happened? If you’re such a better man, why do you have such a strong desire to engage in behavior that is clearly legally actionable?

Greg, I believe such cowardly saber rattling is quite unbecoming of a southern gentleman, which I’m sure you claim to be but apparently are far from understanding. Why you sound just like a Yankee! With this kind of cowardice running through your veins, it is no wonder that our noble ancestors succumbed to the blows of the despicable yankees. Questioning reader,
The Va. state criminal code for trespassing (18.2-119) dictates that a person in violation of this ordinance must first be warned to remove themselves from the property or the property must be clearly marked with “No Trespassing” markers. The violation then occurs when an individual makes entry onto property with the express purpose of denying the owner the right of quiet enjoyment to the property.

I doubt that entering a vacated property and taking a photograph was a damaging act to the proprty owner, and meets the “reasonable person” standard for the commission of a crime.

In contrast a crime does occur when an individual of foreign origin enters the sovereign boundries of the United States without permission.
