Once again, the Chamber is advocating tax increases on the front page of the Potomac News. How is the fairly representing businesses already struggling to control costs and remain profitable.

Have you reviewed the Republican transportation proposal, penned by the infamous Dave Albo, author of the abusive drivers legislation. His most recent proposal is absolutely insane, raise 15 taxes and fees, you name it it's taxed, need new tires, well pay an additional $4 for each one, have a kid getting an initial drivers license, well pony up $150, it goes on an on, he must have been on something wildly illegal when he came up with this plan.

Not enough people are taking the time to get involved, and because of that, special interests groups, like the Region's Chamber are using their influence to raise taxes.

Taxes are not in the best interest of businesses. Where were they (PWRCC) when some supervisors wanted to raise the property tax rate to $1.00?

This is about special interests groups leveraging their influence, and that influence taking priority over what is best for the majority.

Whereas certain individuals may benefit from the pork barrel interests, it is not always what is best for the majority on a local or state level.

Kingsley,
We all know the County does a great job hiding it’s money from the public eye.

I had no idea we asked developers to support affordable housing.

Isn’t this the same misguided “donkey” who is trying to bust up the rural crescent by finding excuses to bring in public sewage systems?

The Chamber’s been getting drunk on the kool-aid.

Every uint rezoned for Residential housing pays 250.00 each for affordable housing if you are a white man requesting the rezoning. If you are a black man such a Mr Stokes in a January 07 rezoning request then he had to agree to sell on of 18 units that were approved at 33% less then the regular selling price rather then just 250.00. This is your BOCS by their public voting record. Not one other rezoning request has ever had to sell a unit at 33 % less for affordable housing since and not sure if any before that had to do that either for the previous 2-3 years. No discrimination in PWC or by the BOCS is there?

Police slaying of man raises neighborhood tensions

Now that everything is quite again, please come out to Juan's illegal taco business. We operated out of a house without a license or regulation to keep the costs down. We don't pay taxes on our profits so we can bring you the lowest priced illegal tacos around.

Hello,
I'm Juan from Juan's illegal taco house. Please look at this site to see how many times people have complained about me selling quaility illegal tacos from my residency.
http://egov.goprincegeorgescounty.com/Epermitsexternal/Site/Public/Citizens/Permitdefault.Aspx
But I still bring you the lowest priced unlicensed unregulated tacos in town. Come out today to get a low priced taco today!

Look at this latest attempt to shut down my low priced illegal, unlicensed, unregulated taco house.
June 1, 2008

Maj Kevin Davis
Commander, Prince George’s County Police, District I
5000 Rhode Island Ave
Hyattsville, MD 20784

Dear Maj Davis:

This letter is in follow up to the District I’s Advisory Community Meeting of January 30, 2008. At that meeting Ofc Lisa Garland described the Joint Agency Group (JAG) program for addressing persistent and varied issues at specific properties. Thank you very much for your attention to the properties listed in my previous letter. The JAG intervention had some impact to improve property standards at 2211 Cool Spring Rd., 2708 Curry Drive; 2409 Cool Spring Rd, and 8320 26th Ave.

I have since received a request concerning 8531 Riggs Rd. As you can see from the enclosed, there have been numerous actions concerning the operation of an illegal food business at this address. Our hope is that a coordinated JAG visit to this address will prompt the shut down of these operations that apparently continue despite these numerous citations. As you can see also, we have already corresponded about this case with Mr. Bill Edelen of the Department of Environmental Resources.

If this county attorney could not shut me down I think I'm in the clear!

Umm...those were proffer funds collected from developers to pay for affordable housing initiatives. The BOCS could not have spent them on other projects. Maybe they should not have given the money to this donkey and given them to some other affordable housing group. But they could not have used them for the other stuff you mentioned.

This the same guy who asked the BOCS earlier this year to fund a work force housing project. They approved $200k for the project and not one home materialized.

The Manassas Journal Messenger reported that he paid himself 160k. Even more ridiculous is that BOCS approved another $50k!

A moment of silence please for the quarter of a million dollars that could have been used to fund the Rule of Law resolution, the Senior Center in Manassas, Park Authority for Silver Lake, police camera's, etc.

Huh. I've been thinking for a while that whoever is doing economic development for the county needs to be replaced. Heck, after two years they couldn't even find a suitable place to relocate the Globe & Laurel restaurant that was being displaced by the Route 1 widening near Quantico, yet Stafford County was able to find a perfect location within 2 months.

Comcast community outreach ... well, that explains it a little. Are you allowed to bring hammers to chamber meetings?
