And The Parents?

How is it that someone could drop their infant off at day care and not notice that the place was a squalid dump? Of course the operator deserves to be punished for the neglect that resulted in the death of a child and endangered others (including her own children), but what in the heck was going on with the parent that dropped off their child at this place day in and day out? How could someone not notice what was going on with their daycare provider?
From the MJM:
The house was filthy, the affidavit states, with soiled diapers, rotten food and dead bugs covering the floor.
“The biggest thing was the current living conditions at the house,” Perry said Wednesday afternoon. “It was almost squalor. It was the worst I’ve ever seen.”
Hernandez told police that the baby appeared to be fine when she woke up, according to the affidavit.
“She stated she began to clean her house and came back into the bedroom and found the baby unresponsive and blue in the face,” Perry wrote in the affidavit.
Yeah, I’m sure she went to clean the house. Positive.

How many kids were in this home? Could be violating some other state laws.
Hernandez. What is wrong with those Irish people!?
Makes my place sound downright livable.
In the third-world, daycare centers are probably mudhuts or a street corner and the kids eat the bugs for lunch. This place must have seemed like the Ritz Carlton to them.
Very sad, but this is another example of why the invasion must be stoppped. Where is Nancy Lyall professing her outrage at this. Oh I forgot, they’re probably all illegal and so whatever they do is forgivable, even if a baby dies. UFB.
she’ll loose her children for this and the sad thing is that they are probably better off. daycare is so expensive these days and many people are looking for the cheaper alternative and most times cheaper doesnt mean “better”. I would much rather pay the piper than have my kid die.
I could understand when people drop their kids off at a house and not see this. Some people put up a pretty good front, I’ve seen some providers have an immaculate front room (where the kids are dropped off) then come to find out the rest of the house is disgusting.
Detective Howard M. Perry wrote that he responded to the house at 10:13 a.m. that day and was met by a “distraught woman who had an unresponsive baby at her feet.”
I just can not picture this. “at her feet”?
Did she do nothing to attempt to revive the child?
It’s not clear to me, was this her child?
This is terrible. I cannot begin to imagine what it is like to lose a child and I pray that I never find out.
As for the part about the woman going to clean her house and coming back to find the child unresponsive, if the house was in such bad condition when police arrived, then how must have it looked BEFORE she started to clean it?
Sorry - Anon 9:59 was me.

You are probably correct and the taxpayer will foot the bill.
Anon at 0842-
Go directly to the Coverstone 7-11 and apologize to every Irishman that you find there. (apologies to all sons and daughters of Eire).!
I think assuming this woman or any of the kids were here illegally is jumping the gun a bit. However, this is a sad story and I blame the parents just as much as I would blame the babysitter. Who in their right mind would drop their kids off at a place like this? She had to have been inside the house at some point and noticed the conditions.
I don’t think it was a daycare, I think these were all of her children. And I agree that thinking just because her last name is “Hernandez” does not mean that she or any of the children in this case are illegal.
The article says that her three “other” children were removed. I think the baby that died was her child.
Whether they are illegals or not, a child is DEAD, and that is a tragedy!
Let’s see what news comes from this story.
Remember, the spokeswoman for PWCPD is named the same as this person.
I think people are looking for an excuse to automatically think she is illegal to promote thier own stupid beliefs and use this forum to do so. People draw thier own conclusions after reading the aricle without “KNOWING” any of the facts. We were not there, we know “NOTHING” about the investigation, so let the police and prosecutors do thier job!!!!

The MJM story states that she lived on Grant Ave. in the city of Manassas. This situation according to the article happened at a house in Manassas Park. All indications again, according to the article point to all four of the children belonged to her and the survivors were taken by social services. That is a pretty good indication that they were HER children. Then again, they could have belonged to the owner of the house and were turned over to SS because of the condition of the house. We will have to wait and see if the MJM follows up the story. It sure doesn’t sound like it was a licensed care facility.
