William Day Steps In For Deadbeat Democrat
By Greg L | 5 August 2008 | Virginia Politics, US Congress | 10 Comments
Democrats were really excited about running a candidate in all of Virginia’s congressional districts until Keith Hummel finally decided to withdraw in the First District following revelations of some rather disturbing personal history on his part. So who do the Democrats have playing pinch-hitter in the First so they can keep talking about how many candidates they have? None other than Psychotherapist William Day, an accomplished veteran of campaign failure and a complete and utter nut job. William Day’s campaign website makes it official - William Day is in the race.
Hello, my name is William Day, and I am running for Congress in the 1st District in Virginia as a Democrat. In 2007 I ran for the 31st District in the Virginia House of Delegates, and I feel my loss in that race uniquely qualifies me as the best replacement candidate after our nominee withdrew from consideration after it was disclosed that he had a history of financial failure. Think of me as a more creative Frank Lautenberg, coming to save the day.

I hear that he’ll be getting campaign volunteers in from Rigel-4 next week.
I can’t tell from the link what the “disturbing personal history” was. One of the comments suggests that the man may have declared bankruptcy. Not sure whether that counts (if that’s what the allusion is) as “disturbing personal history.”
He declared bankruptcy three times, and left a long list of unpaid creditors. Hummell hid all this from the Dem 1st District Committee, and had told folks he had filed bankruptcy once.
A real “stand up guy”, by all accounts. A perfect warm-up act for Bill Day.
You need to work on the links or just put the content directly in the post. The readers shouldn’t have to guess at all that. In some of these districts in Virginia, I get the impression that having a pulse is all the Democrats require.
“I feel my loss in that race uniquely qualifies me as the best replacement candidate”
A loser. Nice choice. Then again, considering Gerry Connolly, par for the course for the dems.
anon: actually Connolly has been fairly successful at the polls and is showing every sign of winning handily in November. I’m not happy about that, but whatever Connolly’s problems, being a “loser” isn’t one of them.
Bill Day now has a web video ad!!!

Too funny!
Fimian should be ramping up his campaign. He has lots of material to use in the election.
His challenge is to educate the voters about his opponent.
Fimain could start by talking about “Hit and Run Gerry”
