Corey Stewart Tells Our Story To Congress

By Greg L | 11 September 2008 | Illegal Aliens, Crime, US Congress | 94 Comments

Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart testified before the Republicans on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration today, providing an example of how local communities can take action to protect their residents from the impacts of illegal immigration.  After hearing from some of the families of the victims of illegal alien crime, including the family of Jamiel Shaw, Corey gave one of the few examples of what happens when a community stands up to the illegal alien lobby and demonstrates at a micro-level that attrition through enforcement actually works.

The Washington Post noted a pointed question Corey that rhetorically asked the Democrats that had all decided not to show up for this hearing:

“I am disappointed to see that the majority party no longer considers this issue a priority,” Stewart said. “Unfortunately, at the local level, we don’t have the luxury to ignore it.”

Not all Democrats echo Barack Obama’s distaste of the American worker and eagerness to reward illegal aliens for their unlawful behavior, and some of them happen to be U.S. Congressmen.  So why wouldn’t they even want to show up when crime victims come to tell their story about the human costs of illegal immigration and the top elected leader of a community that has found a way to partially deal with the problem come to share their stories?  They hear plenty from lobbyists that come to explain how these lawbreakers are in actuality just nice folks who come and misuse social security numbers and commit identity theft in order to take care of their families, and that it would be somehow wrong to separate illegal alien families after these same families had voluntarily separated in order to unlawfully send parents to the United States.  Now that innocent victims and lawful citizens come to have their say, and these Congressmen won’t come to hear them?

Kudos for Corey Stewart for helping other localities understand how they can rescue their communities, and calling the House majority on their outrageous dismissal of people whose family members died because Congress refuses to ensure that our laws are enforced.  The deafening silence of the regime of Nancy Pelosi towards these crime victims is yet another indictment against the Democrat “leadership”, which by all appearances is more concerned about selling out the American people than upholding their Oaths of Office.  It’s yet another reason to support Keith Fimian, since Pelosi has utterly proven that the last thing she deserves is another lackey like Gerry Connolly join her.

What pisses me off is that many Dems in Congress have had no issues with ripping our Soldiers, calling them murderers(Murtha) and for killing innocent Citizens(Obama). Yet, these same people who seem so outraged over killing, say nothing about the illegals who have come here and killed innocent Americans. To the Dems it is always blame America first and suck up to the rest of the World.

We simply have been let down by our National “leaders”. Where is the outrage over the sheer number of Americans who have been killed at the hands of illegals? Instead, the Dems say we need illegals since they are the only ones who want to work hard, the only ones who can keep this Nation going.

The COMPOST ignores the many stories of Americans killed by illegals, yet runs a two page story about an illegal killed by a couple of teenagers. No, I am not saying that story should be ignored, but the COMPOST cares more about illegals and says to hell with the many American families that have been ruined because of their family members that have been murdered at the hands of illegals.

And from the only official sanctuary jurisdiction in Virginia, I wish to also thank Chairman Stewart for standing tall, and tossing deserved shame at members of the Pelosi caucus of cowards. In another two years, 9% will seem like a boastful approval rating. Greg ought to establish a website that lists those known employers of illegals, past and present, in their practice of economic and social terrorism against American workers and consumers.

I met the Shaw family on Wednesday Sept. 10th at a press conference. That family is devestated by the death of their son, brother, and grandson. There is no way in the world to tell that family everything will be okay, it never will be. I cried the whole time Jamals father spoke. This is one BRAVE family! They have had constant death threats from the 18th street gang and yet they are still out there telling how they have been affected by illegal aliens.

How in the world do the people that advocate for illegals being here, live with the fact that American families are being devestated every day by them. American families are being split up everyday because of illegal aliens.

Tell the Angelos family and the Shaw family that their son’s death isn’t a by- product of illegal aliens, and will tell you, you are a liar.

God Bless all the families that have been a victim of crime committed by illegal aliens.

Amazing. All is well when the leadership is separated from the problems they cause (illegal immigrants cutting the grass? No problem! He doesn’t live next door!)

But if housing prices continue to slump, and the illegals are the only ones able to get loans to cover the mortgages (special cases you know) the people in the gated communities may just begin to see what really happens when you have illegals living among you.

Last night on the political forum, John McCain admitted he was out of touch. In discussing his admiration for small town mayors, John McAmnesty admitted that it was easy for him to be in Washington, “divorced from the lives of every day Americans.”

HELLOOOOOO, John, that’s why you should be listening to us when we scream against AMNESTY. You have no idea what it is like in OUR neighborhoods you rich elitist. Go to a cocktail party with Obama.

While the Dems in power certainly have not demonstrated any support for our laws and citizens, the other side has no track record of doing the right thing when they had the majority.

The historical record of the unabashed, non-partisan support of the corrupt governments south of the border over the citizens of the United States, in an effort to push for their North American Union, speaks for itself.

That being said, Thank you Mr. Stewart, and may your efforts show others across America that we do not have to sit by while Washington sells out America.

I can only see voting for the lesser of two evils. At least with McCain he can be somewhat controlled by his party…not much, but somewhat. If you believe that illegal immigration is a scourge as I do, then your choice has to be between the lesser of two evils.

I disagree. If you vote for McCain you’re telling them it’s allright to keep playing footsie with Amnesty. If enough conservatives bail to cost an election, THAT would transform your party. As it is voting for McCain is like giving a crack addict $50 to “get themselves together” so that you can give them a good tongue-lashing later.

    Maureen,

My heart and prayers go out to anyone who has lost a child or family member to murder or any other type of crime or accident. It truly is heartbreaking and families never recover fully from a act of violence against a family member.

I say God Bless ALL families who have been the victim of crimes of violence no matter who committed the crime.

Maureen, I take strong issue with you insinuating that all undocumented immigrants are murders. THEY ARE NOT!!!!!

Have you read the JM this morning. “Prince William Circuit Court Judge Rossie D. Alston Jr. said that Gordon Harris’s murder was “a cold-hearted and callous act of violence. In March, a jury found 32-year-old Walter Douglas Jenkins guilty of first degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in Harris’s shooting death.” Douglas Jenkins is a US Citizen.

Please stop with the one size fits all analogies. It is counter productive and does nothing to help mend the community.

The truth is that those people who are being discussed are not “undocumented immigrants.” They are illegal aliens.

Maureen did not insinuate that “that all undocumented immigrants are murderers. ” She said quite plainly, “American families are being split up everyday because of illegal aliens.” What part of that is untrue?

And lastly, the truth is that if those illegal aliens who committed these
heinous acts were not here to begin with, those acts would not have
been committed, having saved those lives lost.

Lets face the facts, both Juan McAmnesty and Barrack S. Obama love this country and its citizens so much that both cannot wait to give Amnesty to 20 to 30 millions Invading, American hating, Illegal Aliens that kill more Americans every year than Terrorists have in the last 20 years! With chain immigration millions of their American hating relatives and their relatives in an never ending chain will also get Citizenship which will in time turn the USA into an Spanish speaking third world cesspool, modeled on Mexico!

Both candidates ignore our Constitution against Invasion, the Rule of Law and their Oath of Office! The invaders have loyally to other Nations, refuse to assimilate & have proven in hundreds of years in their Nations that their primary ability is to breed, produce, foster, and create an third world society of Crime, Corruption, Poverty, Cruelly and Misery. If anyone doubts that point of view just look at the Border cities they are as different as night and day. The land is the same the only thing different is the culture of the people living on the land.

fill federal coffers, especially from payroll taxes.
‘ The tax cost are local, but the tax windfalls are national,’
says Cecilia Munoz, vice president for policy at the

imbalance. It becomes a potent political issue locally
and there is nothing local government can do.’ ”

A National Academy of Sciences study found that the average

    on local and state governments.
    (E.J. Dionne - WaPo op/ed - 5-26-2006)

    - Note the sources are the National Council of Raza

Any indication by McCain or Obama that they understand
this is a huge legimate problem and they will help

Obama indicates there is a down sside in his book. I think he understands both sides of the issue. He wants to craft a solution that reduces the jobs magnet and stops wage reduction, but wants to do it without causing pain to families.

McCain has been a big blowhard for Amnesty (by any other name), he has been deliriously dedicated to another round of Amnesty. And he fights like hell over semantics and trying to convince people that self-deportation isn’t even an option. He consistently obfuscates the issue and pushes for Amnesty.

The one position is arguably weak and lilly-livered; the other is so completely out-of-touch with reality that it shows McCain to be either a traitor or an idiot.

Max Power, listen….curbing/stopping illegal immigration is just as important to me as it is to you…perhaps even more so. Although John McCain claims to have “seen the light” on first securing the border, I certainly don’t agree with him on providing a path to citizenship.

However, illegal immigration is certainly not the ONLY issue at stake here and although I don’t agree with John McCain on everything, I don’t agree with Barackus Obamus on ANYTHING. Take a look at the other issues.

Further, those of you who want to vote for a third party to “force the Republicans to sit up and take notice,” you would be jeopardizing far more than the illegal immigration issue. Just consider a Democrat Congress and a the most liveral of all Senators as President. There would be no salvaging of the situation four years down the road.

Further, the Republicans HAVE sat up and taken notice…Sarah Palin will make a wonderful Presidential candidate and alternative to Ms Hillary in either four or eight years from now. What a threat she poses to the entire Dem base….:)

Freedom, I do so agree with you! Aside from any issues being debated
on both sides, it would be hard for me to comprehend why any red-
blooded American would vote for Obama. For ANYONE to sit in a church
for 20 plus years and listen to the radical pastor call on God to “damn
America” is enough reason NOT to vote for Obama.

I absolutely agree, we ARE the majority, but we aren’t the most vocal. We need for Wally, Maureen, Marty, Mike, and even John Jenkins to get on board and ACTIVELY, I mean ACTIVELY support the cause. There’s no hope for the Woodbridge guy…:(

With the proper support, PWC can influence the state and federal governments on the issue of illegal aliens and a path to citizenship. I’m honestly getting tired of watching Corey and John Stirrup “take the heat” all the time — I guess it’s politically safer for the others to “straddle the fence,” huh?

  66. manassascityresident said on 14 Sep 2008 at 12:24 pm: Flag comment

    I agree, Freedom.l
Of course it’s politically safer to straddle the fence, which is why I think so highly of John and Corey. They listened, they acted, and they’ve stuck to their decision. No swaying them. They have something the others don’t have, and that would be something they call integrity.

  67. freedom said on 14 Sep 2008 at 12:53 pm: Flag comment

Absolutely….!! While I have messaged both of them, thanking them taking a firm stand in representing what is right, I have also messaged the others, asking them to get on-board, pitch in and help.

It will be interesting to see what we have in terms of candidates for the BOCS in the next election cycle.

Furthermore, if you’re interested in capitalism and in securing our southern border, think and vote Fimian…Keith Fimian for the US House of Representatives.

John McCain believes America’s immigration system is broken. He is committed to a two-step process to reform.

Securing Our Borders First. John McCain’s top immigration priority is to finish securing our borders in an expedited manner. Governors of border states will be required to certify that the border is secure. Steps to border security include:

Setting clear guidelines and objectives for securing the border through physical and virtual barriers.

Ensuring that adequate funding is provided for resources on the ground, but also training facilities, support staff and the deployment of technologies.

Dedicating funding to US Attorneys offices in border states.

Implementing sound policies for contracting Department of Homeland Security software and infrastructure.

Deploy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and other aircraft where needed and appropriate in the border region.

Continue implementation of the US-VISIT comprehensive visitor security program.

Comprehensive Immigration Initiatives for a Secure Nation. Once the borders are secure, John McCain will:

Prosecute Bad-Actor Employers. John McCain will implement a secure, accurate, and reliable electronic employment verification system to ensure that individuals are screened for work eligibility in a real-time fashion. John McCain will use this new system in conjunction with other Department of Homeland Security resources to identify and aggressively prosecute employers that continue to hire illegal immigrants. The Electronic Employment Verification System will:

Establish a user-friendly system employing a limited set of secure documents that contain biometric data and are electronically verifiable to check a workers identity.

Provide responses to employer inquiries in a prompt and timely manner to provide both the employer and employee security in their hiring decisions.

Update and ensure the accuracy of current databases of government agencies that play a role in employment verification.

Protect the identities of each employee being screened and allow both employer and employee adequate time and opportunity to correct possible errors with any information in the system.

Institute targeted auditing by Department of Labor in order to weed out employers abusing the system.
Meet Americas Labor Needs. John McCain will implement temporary worker programs that will reflect the labor needs of the United States in both the high-tech and low skilled sectors while protecting the employment opportunities for US workers:

    Highly Skilled workers:

Ensure high skilled workers trained and educated in the United States have the opportunity to stay and work in the United States upon graduation.

Reform caps for H-1B visa program to rise and fall in response to market conditions. Reduce bureaucracy and waiting times for workers to arrive in the United States.

Increase available green card numbers to reflect employer and employee demand.

Extend the ability for H-1B visa holders to renew their H-1B status while waiting for their green card number to become available.

Ensure available and qualified American workers are given adequate and fair opportunities to apply for available positions.

    Low-skilled non-agricultural workers:

Implement a usable, market based system for low-skilled workers to enter the United States in an orderly fashion.

Ensure that the cap rises and falls with market demand to meet the changing needs of the economy.

Provide for adequate worker protection to guard against employer abuses of temporary workers.

Protect American workers by designing a program that allows willing and eligible United States workers adequate opportunity to apply for available positions.

Ensure that workers return to their home countries after their temporary period in the United States.

Allow for appropriate visa renewals to assure that both the employer and employee have stability in the workforce.

Offer a limited number of green cards to reflect the small number of workers that may wish to remain in the United States permanently.

    Low-skilled agricultural workers:

Reform the H-2A visa program to provide a non-bureaucratic, adaptable, useable program that is reflective of market needs and protects both the immigrant and US workers.

Address the Undocumented. John McCain will address the fact that we have a large number undocumented individuals living in the United States and working in our economy:

All undocumented individuals will be required to enroll in a program to resolve their status.

This program will use background checks to identify criminal aliens for prosecution and deportation.

Assure that the remaining undocumented immigrants learn English, pay back taxes and fines, and pass a citizenship course as part of a path to legal status.

Guarantee that no person here illegally receives a green card before those that have been legally waiting outside the country.

Do a proper accounting of all social security numbers used and attained illegally, rectifying the accounts and alerting those whose identity had been compromised.

The program will also ensure that all undocumented aliens either leave or follow the path to legal residence. America cannot permit a permanent category of individuals that do not have recognized status a permanent second class.

In addition, the program will provide a system that is fair, humane, realistic, and ensures the rights of the individual and families will be protected.

    Ensure that families are reunited.

Address in an expedited manner the status of individuals brought here illegally as minors through no will or intention of their own.

Joe Predicts: Zero Percent Chance Of Amnesty In 2009!
    By Joe Guzzardi

Eight years of George W. Bush has proven one thing: that it doesnt matter what the U.S. president wants regarding an illegal alien amnesty, open borders, unlimited work visas or any other treasonous elements of immigration policy that subvert American interests about which he may fantasize.

If Bush simply could have snapped his fingers and gotten his way, I imagine he would have established an expansion of the wet foot, dry foot policy that currently applies to Cubans.

Then the only requirement for a green card would be to get into the US.

Bush would doubtless have loved to have created a national rolling amnesty that would have included Mexico, Central and South Americaand perhaps everyone in the world.

But throughout his two terms, Americans thwarted Bush at his every turn. Despite his virtually non-stop efforts to get his illegal immigration agenda past Congress, Bush instead lost ground every year.

At his low point in 2007, Bush experienced such a string of ignominious Comprehensive Immigration Reform defeats that his administration suffered what in effect was a vote of no confidence.

Given our successes, Iunlike other immigration reform patriotsam not in a huge lather about what appears to be the certainty of a 2009 amnesty effort.

Im VDARE.COMs in-house optimist. Our recent track record gives me good reason to feel as I do.

Sure, John McCain and Barack Obama are both for amnesty.

    So what?

If Bush couldnt get it past either a Republican or Democratic controlled Congress, why should we assume either of them will?

The American government has a process that must be followed.

Whoever wins in November will start his first term with higher negatives than Bush did. In fact, the survivor will likely be the least popular president ever elected, thus starting out his new job with a considerable reservoir of ill will.

The worsening economy, the nations rotten public education system, unaffordable health care and the ever-present Iraq War put immigration reform no higher than fifth on most lists of Americans concerns.

In some states, like my Pennsylvania, immigration is barely on the radar, at least by comparison to California.

That makes comprehensive immigration reform unlikely to be the first item on the new presidents legislative to-do list. Why lead with your chin?

McCain and Obamas challenge is to get elected. As of today, each is floundering in the polls and probably appearing less attractive to even their small core of hard-core supporters as the days drag on.

Whichever candidate does the best job of convincing the unconvinced will prevail. Fifty-three days remain for either to pull it off.

Which of the two might blink and bring immigration to the forefront of their campaigns?

    Short answer: neither.

Despite what our good friend Mickey Kaus at Slate thinks (that Obama could appeal to blue collar workers suspicious of him by promising to delay amnesty until he became convinced that wages would not be adversely impacted by more immigration), Obama has no wiggle room.

First, Obama is the candidate who publicly supported drivers licenses for aliens. (See his speech here)
If youre one of many who wonder about Obamas intelligence, remember that his endorsement of this wildly unpopular idea could easily have been ducked by saying that licenses are a state and not a federal issue.

Second, Obama doesnt have a disaffected base on immigration. Mainstream Democratic voters support amnesty.
Third, Obama has made so many pleas on behalf of Hispanics in the shadows that if he reversed himself now, he would appear idiotic. [Obama Pitches Immigration Policy, by T.W. Farnam, Wall Street Journal, September 10, 2009]
Peter Brimelow proposes that Obama try to draw McCain out about his amnesty devotion by pressing for an agreement between them that whoever ends up going back to the Senate will commit to working tirelessly with the winner on comprehensive immigration reform.

The idea is soundtrying to trip McCain up on his true treasonous immigration feelingsand would make wonderful theater. But I cant envision either of them playing.

While its true that thousands of Republican votersor would-be votersare furious at McCain for his immigration betrayal, hes alienated all of them to such an extent that nothing he could say or do at this point would bring them around.

On immigration, Republicans equate McCain to Teddy Kennedy.

The situation on the ground is what we have come to expect from presidential candidates: the less they say about immigration to a broad-based audience, the safer it is for them.

Lets assume the worst: that whoever gets into the White House will immediately throw all of his weight behind amnesty.

It wont get to first base.

Unlike in 2001, when we were ambushed, the patriotic immigration reform movement is fully prepared to go to the mat.
Amnesty in all its forms, either comprehensive, a grand compromise, or one piece at a time (Dream Act and Ag Jobs), has been soundly defeated dating back even further than the Bush administration. The last success the other side registered occurred during the Clinton years.
To grasp the enormity of passing amnesty, consider that similar bills introduced this week (H.R. 5882 and H.R. 5924) to increase worker visas by more than 550,000 met with such public outrage that the House Judiciary Committee could not even organize a vote even though one had been scheduled. This is in the Committee! Good luck to them on amnesty.
Whether the Republicans or the Democrats control the next 111th Congress, the environment may be more hostile than the 110th that consistently sent amnesty down to a string of defeats. Many immigration restriction candidates will be on Novembers ballot. If elected, expect their votes to be cast in our favor.
In a perverse kind of way, Im actually hoping that an amnesty bill makes it to the floor. Of course, its a drag to have to fight the same battles over and again.

But when its defeated, as I am 100 percent certain it will be, amnesty will be cast aside to the lowest rung of Congress legislative agendalabeled as something that is simply not doable.

Once amnesty tanks again, it wont be resurrected for a long time to come.

Crackdown on hiring illegal immigrants is having an effect

    By PHIL VALENTINE

I just completed a two-day broadcast from the “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” event in Washington, D.C.

This is an annual event of which I’ve been a part since its inception that brings attention back to the problem of illegal immigration. This year, more than 40 talk show hosts from across the country participated, including CNN’s Lou Dobbs, who originated his radio and TV show from the event.

Why illegal immigration now, when we’re in the middle of a presidential campaign? Because illegal immigration is still a component of every major issue afflicting our country. The rising cost of health care is exacerbated by illegal immigrants who don’t have health insurance and show up at emergency rooms all over America.

Illegal immigrants only account for about 3 percent of the population but they make up over 17 percent of the federal prison population, according to an Urban Institute study. Other estimates now show that illegal immigrants make up half of the California prison population.

I devote an entire chapter to illegal immigration in my new book, The Conservative’s Handbook (Cumberland House). In doing research for that chapter, I discovered that an ESR Research study released earlier this year estimates the cost of illegal immigration to the federal government alone at $115 billion!

The human cost of illegal immigration is staggering. The Violent Crimes Institute estimates there are more than 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States. That’s 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sex offenders crossing into the U.S. every day. Each sex offender is averaging four victims. That’s close to a million victims of sexual crimes at the hands of illegal immigrants. Of that number, 41 percent were sexual homicides.

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, conducted a study of government records and cross-referenced those records with arrest records and prison population estimates. His conclusion? On average, 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal immigrants. That’s 4,380 per year.

To put it another way, that’s more people killed each year by illegal immigrants than the number of soldiers lost in the first four years of the Iraq war. King’s study estimates another 13 people are killed by illegal immigrants in traffic accidents each day, primarily from drunken driving. That’s 25 innocent Americans killed each day. That’s 9,125 per year. That’s like a 9/11 happening every four months or a 727 jetliner full of passengers going down every week.

And the proponents of illegal immigration tell us “no person is illegal.” Oh, really?

We’re spending $115 billion in federal dollars and losing nearly 10,000 American lives each year because we have too many people putting profit ahead of principle.

I’ve been doing these hold-their- feet-to-the-fire broadcasts for four years now. I’ve seen very little movement on the federal level, but I’ve seen a grass-roots movement grow to a deafening level. Americans are fed up with the inaction by Congress. They’re sick and tired of activist judges thwarting the efforts of people like Lou Barletta in little Hazelton, Pa., who led his town council to crack down on those who hire illegal immigrants only to see his actions struck down by judges with an agenda.

But I’ve also seen states like Arizona and Oklahoma demagnetize their states by cracking down on employers as illegal immigrants packed up and moved out. Some headed home across the border while others fled to sanctuary cities like San Francisco where misguided city officials welcomed them with open arms. In turn, these sanctuary cities also saw their crime rates skyrocket.

We can no longer count on our federal government to solve the problem of illegal immigration, but the least we can expect is for them not to be part of the problem. The recent high-profile ICE raids are encouraging but they’re only window dressing for an administration that has openly advocated open borders.

Build the fence, yes, but let the states and cities demagnetize America, and we’ll see an end to illegal immigration once and for all.
There is NO rule of LAW, when it is bought and sold for gold and thrones.

I’m all for corey stewart, I think he’s doing a pretty good job and the resolution is a resounding success. I think it’s really doing a good job of scaring the illegals and for that purpose it was well worth the money. Anything to keep the heat on the illegal alien population and other efforts to “thin the heard” i.e. 287g are all worthwhile projects and should be supported. regardless if people dont see the use of them immediately, their usage as a scare tactic does wonders and shows them that the overall majority of the public does not want them here. that alone is enough sometimes, if they are hiding in their homes like a bunch of cockroaches scared to come out into the sunlight then the resolution has worked. Eventually people will want to move away (probably to fairfax) and we have succeeded. Go Corey and Stirrup and thank you for the fine work. Now if we can only get Royse elected then we’ll have the perfect weapon for the eradication of the illegals here in PWC.

The intelligent thinkers who have posted comments today are all excellent!!

I did want to comment on Black Saint’s post at 13 September 2008 at 8:32am. You are honing in on something here that many of us are distracted by other detail and haven’t really thought enough about. Recently saw a documentary called “Silver or Lead” which was disturbing on so many levels but the drug cartels are demanding and commanding much from our American politicians. We have a few good men of strength and character on the national level and a few good men on our local levels. It is our civic duty to rally around those few good men when they are getting throttled for standing against narco terriorism and standing up for the rule of law. And ask ourselves if we were standing in their shoes what would we choose……..silver(the $$ payoff) or lead(the bullets)?

I join the applaud for our local officials in the city and the county who have bravely stood strong against the winds of opposition and continue to solidly stand straight and do the job they took an oath to do. To the entire PWBOCS
I say this; it was an impressive moment when you unanimously voted to approve the rule of law resolution. There was not only strength in your voice but unity. Who or what has gotten to several of you since that brave decision to agree together as one?

Here is a copy of the email they are going to send:
I ask you to vote against the appointment of Robert Duecaster, one of the most divisive figures in our county, to our Human Services Task Force. In this unique budget year, there will be unusual pressure on this committee to prioritize goals and outcomes in a way that reflects the values of our community. While I recognize it is not customary to subject appointments for our Strategic Goal Task Forces to a deliberative process, I want to call attention to Mr. Duecaster’s record of racially insensitive remarks and hateful outbursts.

Below is a link to video footage of some of Mr. Duecaster’s more memorable appearances at Citizens’ Time, one of which culminated with a direct threat to the Board of Supervisors: “We are going to repel this invasion, one way or another! You can either be part of that repulsion, or you can be part of the side.”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45DFErK5LEw

In addition to insensitive remarks about the Hispanic community, Mr. Duecaster’s writings have included offensive remarks concerning Muslims, the Catholic Church, people of color and the list goes on and on.

In my view, Mr. Duecaster’s behavior is a poor model for civic participation, one we should not reward or invite others to emulate.

Additionally, it sends the wrong kind of message for a county that seeks to remove the conflict and intolerance that threatens our economic future.

I ask you to exercise your vote to request a more suitable representative of Prince William County government, and the good people it has sworn to serve.
