This is where the rubber hits the road. I continually receive charges of racism when I say illegal aliens must go. I'm white. I'm also against granting amnesty to white people. If I'm a racist, then at least I'm against all races equally.

Obama/Biden will be at University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg tomorrow. The Secret Service and the Obama campaign are in charge of this state-owned campus tomorrow. The students were sent an email detailing the street, Campus Walk and parking-lot closures (a major hardship, if you are familiar with the campus) and also the following interesting directive:

"All windows facing Ball Circle must be closed and blinds/shades drawn by 2:00 p.m."

According to the email, "the logistics of this event are under the jurisdiction of the Secret Service and Obama campaign." Great. A publicly-funded university, and the campaign is in charge.

I hope there are some creative students who will use their shades/blinds to exercise their free-speech rights. Hopefully, they won't need to eat or use the library tomorrow afternoon.

"My friends, I'll deal with energy issues during my first two weeks in office. Then I'll deal with the Iraq occupation from mid-February through the end of March. After that, I'll start turning my attention towards budget matters. Start of summer will be "Annesty June".

If elected, will he suspend the war in Iraq for two days, then start it again?

If his Amnesty proposal gets through and our economy becomes decimated, will he ask to put national business on hold for 2 days while he tries to gather up a bipartisan commission on how to pay for plane tickets home and bailout money for the next wave of illegal aliens?

Is this leadership?

So, back to the subject of McCain's increasingly ludicrous campaign/non-campaign :

"I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night’s debate until we have taken action to address this crisis."

No delay. There's be a debate. It's still a requirement of potential Presidents that they be able to do two things at once.

So McCain looks a bit foolhardy, does he not?

"And, 100 percent of the people on this blog are sick of you and the 50 posts a day you make. "

Hmm. You've been collating statistics?

I do have a job. I'm a secret double-agent for the Obama campaign.

Your words, not mine. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm sure you're just holding out for a hero 'til the morning light.

Just follow the six steps, Rick, and everything will be OK. I only wish you could think as fast as you type. I might have been wrong about the pot; perhaps it's crystal meth.

I am most sad that the taxpayers are probably subsidizing your internet rants. As far as statistics go, over 90 percent of Americans have jobs, and you should join us. And, 100 percent of the people on this blog are sick of you and the 50 posts a day you make. We get it: you don't like God, daddy ruined religion for you, you don't like McCain or Obama, and killing babies in the womb is A-OK.

Please stop picking on Rick a/k/a Naughtius Maximus. Most of the people who post here have very strong views and type-A personalities. We are all entitled to our own opinions.

Most people here are anti-illegal immigration and that is what brings us together to work for the common goal of ensuring that America remains America and not some third-world, socialist, cesspool.

Rick, I appreciate you, your cynicism, and your sarcastic wit...

You're very wrong.
Between weeks 4 and 10 is when a fetus is developing his organs. By week 10 of gestation, the fetus already has his major organs and systems, including his brain and central nervous system, being able to sense changes in his environment in the uterus and even pain.

The most primitive part of the brain, the brain stem, is developed by 7 weeks gestation (which is technically 5 weeks of development since the counting begins at the first day of the woman's last menstrual period, and she isn't usually ovulating until approximately 2 weeks after that date). The brain stem controls the most basic life functions (breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, etc) and reactions to stimulus (startling, crying, suckling).

Many women don't know they're pregnant until around week 6 (sometimes even a little later). By the time a woman decides to have an abortion, the child already has a functioning and developing brain and can feel pain.

How about a thread on the bailout?

Seems to me the House Republicans are heroes here. Bush, McCain, Obama, Reid, Pelosi would have had us footing a huge bill before we even knew what was happening. By contrast the House GOP (NOT the elitists in the Senate) want to encourage private ownership rather than taxpayer bailout. It makes perfect sense to use the tax laws to encourage investment by those with capital, rather than to stack it onto our national debt and encourage the rich to hold onto their money while the taxpayer pays on bad assets.

Look for Bush and McCain to jump on their side after they process the information in a day or so.

Does McCain have the cojones and cognitive ability to debate Obama on foreign affairs tonight? The debate is supposed to have mostly direct discussion between the two canididates for lengths of time.

I think he's scurred, myself. Obama is a smart dude and as articulate as anyone in politics ... I think McCain's actually running away from a debate, while trailing in the polls, on the very issue he is seen more favorably on.

Increasingly, it becomes obvious that McCain is not fit. Wods that describe him are impetuous, reckless (as our current Presdient has been), tempermental.

"Regardless of your religion (or lack of religous beliefs), if you take all the politics out of the issue and simply look at the procedure of abortion it cannot be seen as anything less than a barbaric and horrific act-homicide."

I don't agree. If you poll people who don't believe in religion, I'll bet way over 90% think an abortion when the fetus has no developed brain and cannot feel pain is a trivial thing.

As I've stated before, I think the train of thought goes like this :

I believe people must have a thing called a "soul" because the Bible says so

I believe everyone should acknowledge the truth of my religion, or they'll all go to hell

I believe that the soul is implicitly in a fetus from conception

Therefore, abortion is a casual destruction of a soul and must be a bad sin

Now take religion out of this, concern yourself with a "brain" as the core of a life rather than a "soul", and abortion for the first 4 or 5 months or so is not really uglier than menstruation.

“I asked who will care for these 30+ babies and as a true short-sighted thinker, you have no answer. ”

Jesus will! He loves us all.

He needs a little help outlawing abortion, but once we do that for him and get his will jump-started he will take care of everything. And WE will get to go to heaven as a reward for interpreting the Bible the way we choose to. I’m hoping for 72 virgins! Should be cool!"

Rick Bentley/Naughty Max, I have some advice for you:

1. Get a haircut
2. Stop smoking pot
3. Get a job
4. Stop picking a fight with Jesus (he still will love you and
      won't fight back)
5. Make up with your daddy over the religion thing
6. Start dancing again instead of blogging so much to relieve
     your frustrations:

BTW, you don't mention whether you want 72 male or female virgins, but I think we all know the answer.

The issue of whether to keep abortion legal should become a national referendum. It should be placed on the national ballot in four years, and we can vote our feelings and end this never-ending debating once and for all.

Regardless of your religion (or lack of religous beliefs), if you take all the politics out of the issue and simply look at the procedure of abortion it cannot be seen as anything less than a barbaric and horrific act-homicide. It seems that people can stomach this and salve their conscience by creating a worst case scenario for every potential mother and child that continue with the pregnancy. Only then can they justify the act and feel that what they did was necessary.

Junes_Reston

As a Taxpayer I would be happy to pay for the care of a child rather than its murder.

Maybe its time to also ask.
Why don't we abort people on unemployment and welfare? after all they aren't productive members of society. And while we are at it how about the mentally handicapped?

You are advocating the Hitler Doctrine.

Junes the reason these polls are this size is because they need not be bigger. According to GALLUP having a sampling of that size "based on a total sample of national adults, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points."

One need not question every person in the US to get a statistically accurate sample.
