Pr. William Warns Big Service Cuts Are Likely

    By Kristen Mack

Prince William County Executive Craig S. Gerhart has asked department heads to slash their budgets by one-third in the coming fiscal year to make up for plunging property tax revenue and home values that have fallen more than 37 percent.

I wanted to post this again since it was on the second page…

The City of Manassas has the great honor of hosting a community agitator, sorry, organizer at the socialist boys and girls club. Among the topics that are scheduled to be discussed are “know your rights”… fair housing to traffic stops. The fun gets under way on November 15. Oh boy!

In regard to the recent string about illegal aliens voting, I have noticed something interesting lately. There are significantly more cars with Maryland tags being driven out of PWC in the morning and back again at night on I-66. With Maryland’s more liberal licensing policies, I wonder if some illegal aliens have figured out a way around the system again.

I remember when I moved to Fairfax from another state back in the early ’90s the police would often stop you if you had out-of-state tags on your car. Many people would keep their tags in order to avoid the hefty personal property tax payments. You were subject to fine and impoundment if you had resided in the county more than 30 days and had not changed your tags over. Is this something that is no longer done? I see that the police are out in Fairfax with their binoculars, looking for expired personal property tax stickers during the morning commute!

Mighty Putty - if you have cars in your neighborhood with out of state plates then you can turn them into the County for tax evasion after 60 days. The only caveat is that military personnel do not have to turn in their plates for VA plates.

The problem is they are not my neighbors. I don’t see exactly where they live, other than the roads off 234 Business that they turn on to as I go to and from work every day.

Thanks for the web link. I was really more curious than anything as to whether anyone else had noted the same thing as I.

I’ve turned in plenty of cars parked for months and months in my neighborhood with MD plates, no county decal, etc. They keep parking there. I suspect if any situation is investigated, the county employee just “buys” the owner’s story that he’s just parked there for a Bible study class, just visiting his 14th cousin for the weekend, etc.

With the budget cuts in public safety in 2008, and the already expected budget shortfalls in 2009, I hope we will see less fluff and more substance from our public officials by making a difference in Prince William County.

Being a Republican, I hate to admit Sheriff Glendell Hill is a prime example of why more and more people in Prince William County are voting Democrat. The Democrats are willing to deliver more services at sometimes lower cost. Taxpayers don’t like is paying more and getting less, which is the only thing Sheriff Hill has to offer.

Sheriff Glendell Hill (R) (2004 – ) Reduced his workload by cutting services to the people, collected some cell phones, collected some money for the Red Cross to buy a trailer, bought tasers to shock upset people in the courtroom, bought a golf cart so deputies could ride around the court complex, has a budget over 7 million dollars.

Sheriff E. Lee Stoffregen, III (D) (1996 – 2003) Achieved Virginia Law Enforcement Accreditation, started child mentoring, established senior citizen programs, had deputies respond to major crimes to get a quicker response to these crimes, tried to make the streets safe by running radar to slow down speeders and aggressive drivers, and never had a budget close to 7 million dollars.

Sheriff Wilson C. Garrison, Jr. (D) (1984 – 1995) Modernized the sheriff’s office, started a fugitive squad, started the child I.D. program, computerized the sheriff’s office, started escorting funerals, started a rank structure, updated equipment, gave free gun locks for gun safety, and never had a budget close to 7 million dollars.

How Muslims behave when they have numbers.

[blockquote]Unlike the Hispanic Day Parade, which also took place yesterday, the Muslim Day parade was aggressive, angry, confrontational, and did not seem very happy or joyful. No one was celebrating Islam’s many cultures and ethnicities. One sign read “Home of the Free Shari’a Movement.”

A number of super-angry bearded men tried to charge a small group of women who were holding signs which read “We Will Not Submit.” The men called one woman: “A fu–ing bitch,” “You whore,” “Your Talmud says you can rape a three year old,” “You baby murderer,” “The Jews kill little children,” “Rothschild was a Zionist,” (!). The background was a continuous roar of “Allahu-Akbar.”[/blockquote]

But just listen to Connolly and the liberal left and they are just like the rest of us. Entire article is here:

FYI, there are no more personal property tax stickers in Fairfax County. It’s done by computer.

I passed through Annandale this morning. Between Hummer Road and Annandale Road on Rt. 236, there were 400-500 day laborers along that stretch of 236. I guess they will appear on the next edition of google earth. Wonder what the store owners think of all this? Fairfax County, don’t you love it?

[TRANSLATION SPANISH TO ENGLISH BY FREEPER]

“New York, NY– Thanks to a private bank initiative, it is now possible for undocumented immigrants to the United States to purchase a home, without having a Social Security Number.

A new program, it will now help those immigrants who have not been able to purchase a home, and to help them achieve the American Dream.

For a very long time, Elena Hernandez did not have the illusion of being able to buy a home, not because she did not want to, but because she did not have legal immigration papers. The Mexican immigrant said “I knew that for me, the door was closed for me to purchase because I did not have a SSN, and without an SSN, you know you cannot do anything,” she said.

Traditionally, undocumented who wanted to buy a home in the United States had to resort to underhanded means, such as with false documents, or with the help of other persons….

But now thanks to the Citigroup, in alliance with a group ACORN, the Asociation de Organizaciones Comunitarias para Reformas”, they are able to help immigrants to buy homes who do not even have Social Security numbers…..

(el snippo)….this could be accomplished just with a Taxpayer Identification Number…. it is important for all those interested, who want to take advantage of this new program, to contact a center of ACORN Housing Corporation, and you can do it in the following communities:

    Nueva York

    Nueva Jersey

    Bridgeport, CT

    Washington DC

    Miami

    Baltimore, MD

    U.S. Border Control
Presidential candidates address immigration, only with Spanish audiences

    Posted: 13 Oct 2008 02:30 PM CDT

One of the most unusual aspects of the 2008 presidential campaign is that John McCain and Barack Obama continue to fight over the issue of immigration, but only before Hispanic audiences and in only their Spanish language ads. The issue is very rarely discussed in their English-language political debate. Spanish-speaking television viewers continue to see the issue mentioned frequently in campaign ads.

A new message, ‘Otra Vez Con Lo Mismo,’ comes from the Obama campaign and attacks McCain for a message he started airing last week.

‘McCain is up to the same distortions and lies on the immigration issue,’ the new ad states in Spanish. ‘He wants to hide the fact that he’s the one who turned his back on us.’ The ‘us’ apparently means Obama and the Hispanics.

The Obama ad continues: ‘McCain caved to the anti-immigrant crowd. If John McCain is not willing to stand up against his own Republican Party, how will he stand up for our community in the White House?’

Obama’s ad will air for an undetermined amount of time in Colorado, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico. Both the Obama and McCain campaigns have focused virtually all of their Spanish-language ad efforts in the ‘Latin quartet’ of states, where Hispanic voter turnout could significantly tip the scales in favor of either candidate.

The former HASBEEN Stoffregen was not what people thought he was. He wheeled and dealed, sold badges for contributions to him. He kept asking the County for money when it was to come from the State. He did not ask State or fill out requests. He knew he was above what he was to be doing with the tax payer money. All his cronies played and bleed us out of money.

He tried to take over Chief Deans job and the people had requested a Police Dept. years ago, so they were not interested in a Sheriff going out of his bounds.

The Police and Sheriffs Dept. in Arlington, Fairfax and I am sure other Counties work well together, doing what they are suppose to do. This I know about these two areas. It was only P.W. that had a sheriff that wanted to be a Dictator.

Current Sheriff Glen Hill has done a fantastic job and thats why he was elected.

When he retires we need to make sure we don’t get back in the cronies of Stoffregen. It’s easy to identify them,so hope everyone will keep this in mind.

    Go Glen Hill. Great job.

If only PWC would do that!!! Once upon a time the did but that seems to be of little priority these days. Have seen cars parked weeks and even months with expired stickers on the streets and only when the PD is called, any action is taken. If anyone sees out of state tags, particularly Maryland being parked in their neighborhoods on a continuing basis, you should call the police dept. and report it. PWC’s and Virginia’s tax base is at stake as no property taxes are being collected. You are right, MP, there is a 30 day time frame to change the registration for out of state vehicles with some exceptions for the U.S. military.

    Ted,

that post is pretty scary. that groups are actually advocating illegal immigrants attempt to buy houses is pretty sickening. I’m curious though if they could get the credit to purchase a home though. If my Home-equity lines of credit were cut and my amex card had it’s limit reduced, I think it would be questionable for illegals to get a home in this credit crunched age. But again, anything is possible! I was royally upset when my HELOC was closed and AMEX gave me an actual credit limit (where none existed before) even with a stellar credit rating!

Let’s see if Greg lets me post this comment in response to you.

As far as AMEX, this article shows how much WE are not in control.
Stellar credit? Where YOU live and shop? Bail out for WHO?

The reason, I ask IF Greg will let this post show, is because I say when it comes to blaming illegals, it’s the WRONG TREE!!!!!-it is a branch or a TWIG.
The focus of the blame iswhy (some/most) on this blog want to advocate that a person (s) are considered an apologist when THEY recognize that there is a broken system( STOP, right there!-just a recognization.

The Fed. Gov.,is who have not done anything about this for decades and IN REAL TIME are they not going to do anything about it but act as a pissed off parent- sick of sibling rivalry and say EVERYONE is grounded ( instead of them taking blame too)

There is NO money. I have not heard YET of a limit on a HELOC or credit card that has been taken back/lowered but DUH! SHUT off the valve-that would be a common sense move,* until NOW, that we have SOCIALIZED the banking system.

Show me where they have already done that?-lowered a credi limit with stellar credit.
ALL I hear is print, print and encouraging MORE LOANS ( loan=you don’t HAVE the money) and spending!

I heard we (US) have committed ourselves to endless cash ( let me find the article) and yet with a pact that NO other COUNTRY shall benefit over another…sounds like a NWO ( financial) to me.

Or do you have to be cowed into walking on eggshells and watching your First Amendment rights flushed down the john because you might offend lawbreaking illegal aliens and the people who profit from their presence?

And who got to decide that the word “nativist” had racist connotations? If that is the case, than Mexico would be one of the most “extremist nativist” countries around, given the way they treat immigrants to their country.

I’ve had pretty good luck with the PWCPD and them investigating out of state license plates. I just had to give the plate number and an address and they came out and spoke with the owners, usually on a weekend so they can catch the owner at home. This was all before the rule of law and a lot of cars were from Maryland and of course I turned the overcrowded dwellings into the county, but you all know that Senor Sanchez came out and it was ok because they were all related…

I don’t see any more cars from Maryland around, but there are quite a few new military families moving into my condo complex the past few months buying up the foreclosures that who would have believed all had hispanic names attached to the property according to the county records for that address. Funny that coincidence…

Did he make a big deal about this is he a headline grabbing person no but he recognizes needs and finds was to get things done.

See Sherriff Hill was able to obtain funding for a much needed program with out going to the taxpayers to fully fund it….but then again you expect the taxpayers to fund everything.

The volunteers for this program also don’t expect to be able to purchase a deputy sheriffs badge either unlike someone hhmmmm in the past…

So if you don’t like him get over it or belly up to the registrars office and run for office or put your money and your time where your mouth is and dentate some of it to assist the vulnerable in our community.

Read some of the other threads re PWC police not responding to accident scenes because of Latinos being involved and the PD dispatcher refusing to take the information that subject Latina involved in accident would not provide a driver’s license or other identification. Insurance company was flabberghasted that police would not respond. How many county bank robberies have been solved lately?? NOT TOO MANY! Subect perp always seems to get away running through a shopping center. Maybe rather than frying fish the time would be better used enforcing the law.

I’m not sure where your anger is coming from. I thanked the person who informed me about the property tax sticker issue. Actually, I don’t have any problem at all with police enforcing this, since I pay my taxes and expect everyone to do so as well. Your assumption that I was criticizing the police or whine is wrong. I see from all your posts that you like to bully others and throw your weight around. Whatever.

I was simply curious as to whether anyone else had noted an increase in Maryland tagged cars in the area. I think illegals in PWC have figured out another way of bypassing the system and avoiding deportation by claiming Maryland residency.

    emma,

here’s the skinny on the whole SPLC thing. They probably did not know that HSM even existed until Alanna and Elena Called them. In fact they mentioned it on their site that they did speak to them on numerous occasions. In addition, they have also contacted the ADL (A jewish organization) go figure, Elena is jewish. They are reaching out to anyone and everyone who will listen to their whining and those organizations always have their ears open to that sort of thing. I used to be a big believer in the SPLC but as of the last few years I feel their fearless leader is less of a man than I once thought he was.

Elena and Alanna are just a bunch of whiners. Look at their blog, it’s full of them. A bunch of hags spitting into the wind and getting their spit blown right back into their faces.

One more appeal from me to readers here.

Obama is supposedly up by as much as 10 points in VA. He’ll likely win the State, and almost surely win the election.

I submit that if you care about illegal immigration, and want the Republican party to care about curbing it rather than encouraging it (as they have strongly done to this point, resulting in the current problem and the mess that we’ve been living through locally) - DON’T vote for McCain, let his final numbers drop low. these are the numbers people are going to be talking aboit and analyzing in great depth for the next 4 years, that will dictate what GOP leaders will think they can get away with and still be able to count on their base. DON’T vote McCain, and tell anyone who asks you why - especially pollsters - why you didn’t vote for him.

I suggest that if you are a dissafected Republican, who doesn’t like the third party candidates, you write in Tom Tancredo’s name, no message could be clearer than that.

Don’t vote McCain and then act surprised when the GOP keeps pussyfooting on this issue.

Let’s let the bottom drop out on McCain in Virginia, and send a message that will resonate for 4 years or so.

I do not “bully” anybody or “throw my weight around” just because you were wrong about FFX Co PD looking through binoculars for something that isn’t even there anymore…..before people start getting people riled up about something and throw statements out there they need to know of what they speak and get the facts straight….no bullying just a statement get it right.

I don’t waste my time responding to everything only things that are factually inaccurate that I have an interest in. Or in responding to someone who claims to be a Republican (not referring to you) that we ALL know is not nor ever has been and has been taking every chance to yap about the good republicans….

For thanking the person on who provided the link to report people that don’t have county sticker that’s great. As far being simply curious about the Maryland license plates fine I agree but you followed that statement up with an inaccurate statement that FFX Co PD can be seen using their binoculars for something that simply no longer exists.

    999,

Sorry you didn’t have any luck. I called the one by me into what is now Neighborhood Services. They sent an inspector out and it ended immediately the ones by me were every weekend for months and months. Also back in November 2007 Lafayette spoke about her success in dealing with what I call the never ending yard sale out in what I think is Manassas.

In my situation there were two inspectors involved and both were at the site. As I stated, I had photos of vehicles dropping off their “junk” in the middle of the week to get ready for the weekend. This situation was at the height of the Latino invasion and every weekend it looked like a local market place in Mexico or El Salvador. Even went on to cite the Virginia Health Department code to the zoning comission re the selling of used matresses which was being done at that “yard sale.” Sent the PWC COP, Gainesville supervisor as well at the Zoning commission photos of fire hydrants being blocked by vehicles, trucks and trailers parking on the sidewalk etc. etc. all to no avail. The real kicker was when I was informed by the zoning (neighborhood services) official that he didn’t see any problem and the fact that there was no law on the amount of “yard sales” that could be held. One could have one every day if they wanted to. The fact that people were hauling in their junk who did not live at the residence was in the zoning inspectors’s opinion, a neighborhood “yard sale.” Fortunately, the situation has cleared up on it’s own. Apparently one of the main participants in the “yard sales” has kicked the bucket or is so disabled that she cannot continue with the enterprise. What a county!

    On last night’s debate :

McCain is so clearly a very oily character who runs his campaign one way - making arguements around specious and irrelevant issues - so that he the principled elitist can then make decisions as he sees fit later when in office. A total elitist running a totally vapid campaign, expecting us to be in awe of his “personal integrity”. I’ve lost respect for him, and I didn’t have much to start with. The traits I just complained of were well in evidence during the Amnesty 2006 and Amnesty 2007 debates when he tried to ram Amnesty down America’s throat based on false arguements and by falsely defining terms, and we can only guess why because he sure didn’t explain his line of BS in any real way. “Trust me”. Yeah sure Grandpa.

McCain started off well but Obama zinged him with some good and very damning points. The observation that McCain’s ads are 100% negative is spot on. And when he lays out McCain’s health care plan I get chills.

So I think probably Obama consolidated his gains which is A-OK with me as the lesser of two evils. McCain’s proposal for health care is so obviously the opposite of what America needs, an extreme attempt to take one more thing (employer-provided health care) away from working people for the sake of “competitiveness” with the third world. Even as cynical as I have become, when I reflect on McCain’s health care plan I fear for America.

Any party that would nominate McCain, who fights for Amnesty and who now fights to disentangle employment from health care - that’s a party that’s making America worse. A party beholden to big business that’s degrading what America is, that’s moving us towards third-world living conditions.

McCain has disgusted me at a new level.

Bush broke the bank and McCain wants to continue to rob the little guy to pay for it.

Rick, Joe doesn’t have to have a license since he works for a licensed plumber in Ohio, doing residential work. He can get his license when he takes over the business. I am glad you are showing your true colors. After months of writing that everyone should not vote for either candidate, you are coming out of the closet for Barry O. I guess this is not the first time out of the closet for you, but I am glad you are finally being honest.

It’s amazing how Palin and Joe the plumber get beat up and get a proctological exam from the media, but Biden gets away with making idiotic statements every day (jobs is not a three letter word, and FDR was not president when the great depression started). Also, Barry O. has not even produced a valid birth certificate yet. He lies about his relationship with terrorists, makes, statements that could easily be checked by a curious media, yet avoids any real scrutiny.

Rick, I always like to leave you with good advice or a nice throught. Forgive your daddy, and remember that Jesus still loves you.

I’m not going to vote for either major candidate. Doesn’t mean I don’t have opinions about them.

concrete4 you may not believe in progressive taxation, but I do. The best form of government is the cross between Capitalism and Socialism that America has been for the past 70 years. (By classical definition, we are a cross of both). When we lean too far in one direction (2001-2008) or the other (1977-1980) we veer off course from what we can optimally be. The correction can produce great times - Clinton’s Presidency I think is a fine example. (Again, I recommend Woodward’s “The Agenda” for a description of Clinton’s first year and his commitment to a balanced budget).

I don’t believe in trickle-down economics as an absolute good, it leads to hoarding and wage stagnation. At the same time it’s important that initiative be rewarded and that laziness and irresponsibility not be rewarded with a government check.

Given that I’m not a rabid idealogue I have trouble relating to either of our major parties but that’s okay with me because they’re really both just sham organizations that manipulate people to their own enrichment. When the hanging chad is in the balance any concept of principle or philosophy is sacrificed for a grab at power. The system sometimes works when balance is acheived but right now there is too much corruption in the major parties to attack much of what’s wrong with us (illegal immigration, wage stagnation, borrowing at the cost of foreign investment, a disconnect between our foreign policy as it exists and as our citizens understand it).

That’s what I think but if someone else wants to shout “Up With Joe the Plumber” or “Kill Him” or “Bush Is A Murderer” they are free to simplify and continue down the yellow brick road to nowhere.

BTW I just saw “W”. I think it was pretty good.

That’s the Bush I see when I look at him, Scared, panicky, out-of-his-depth. What motivated him to run in the first place? Heck, in the first 2004 Presidential debate he whined about how hard a job it was and seemingly was about to quit on stage.

Probably what the movie posits. Partially because of his strange relationship with his father, who preferred his brother to him. And partially a wacked-out belief that God wanted him to.

Why we collectively elected and reelected him is another story. My theory on that remains that we are in such a point of decadence that we no longer care about what’s true, and choose the fairy tale over the rational solution all too often, a luxury our ancestors didn’t have. Can you imagine any other President starting a war under phony pretence and then getting re-elected?

I don’t like the way Stone manipulates history at times, and in this movie he makes Colin Powell more of a leader and less a follower than we know him to have been. But Bush as a reckless dude, Cheney as the guy feeding him ideas, Rice as an ineffectual suckup, Rumsfeld as an irresponsible glib character, that’s all pretty much spot on the mark I think.

    B+ movie, well worth seeing.

I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, but is he really McCain’s new poster boy? What happened to “Joe Six Pack”?

Thank God there’s not another debate (much less the 10 McCain supposedly wanted) where I would have to listen to an arguement about who wanted to help “Joe the Plumber” the most.

Maybe McCain and Obama can agree to bail Joe out or all plumbers who owe taxes.
