Gerry Connolly showed his true self at 2nd Lt. Frank Stecco's funeral on Thursday. He called and informed police planners that he would arrive late at Hylton Chapel and wanted them to hold the funeral for him! After arriving an hour late, and missing the entire religious portion of the funeral, he proceed to make an ass of himself by trying to jockey a poistion in the front row at the service. This was done during Supervisor Hyland's remarks and in front of the entire assembly. The only reason he went to such obvious lengths to isult the family and the memory of Frank was to be positioned for the cameras during the funeral recessional. I am told he was asked to leave when he decided to campaign outside of the chapel.

WE deserve better than this buffoon!

I heard about a yard sign today (apparantly from Fimian):

Connolly - Too Corrupt - Even for Congress

I am in Arizona - will be back in time to vote. Too bad I don't live in the right district or I'd take much pleasure in voting against Connolly.

And remember, you can't have Connolley without a Con.

Turn PW Blue obviously has an agenda. He is, after all, offering facts. But only people who hate America, are not from real Virginia, are not from the pro-America part of America, pal around with terriorists, and are elites are bound by such foolish non-sense as facts or reality. The danger of a person such as PW Blue is obvious, his sad obsession with reality and facts are just limiting. The true reality is that liberals have been in control of our government for the last eight years. A Liberal Democratic President has gotten us into a war in Iraq we didn't need, failed to finish the war in Afganistan, and bankrupted the country. Now, thanks to the Liberals Democrats, who controlled both the Congress and the Presidency, as well as the Supreme Court, for the last eight years, this country is in a mess. That is why we need a change. No more of Democrats like Barak Obama. He and his kind are responsible for all the problems. See, isn't that easy. Now, if only John McCain could make this clear to the pepople, we'd not have another four years of failed Democratic policies.

I'm getting to the point of hating politics, politicians, and the people with political agendas (like Turn PW Blue). Our economy is in ruins, people are losing their jobs, and these idiots stand around with their thumbs you-know-where trying to figure out how to make political gain out of things. Our idiots on Capitol Hill spent about a week coming up with the idea that we need to spend 700 billion dollars to fix the problem, and are now spending several weeks trying to fix the blame. Its easy work to demonize CEOs and Greenspan, but didn't Congress have any oversight during the time? Why are the guys who were in charge now pointing fingers? Joe the plumber asks Obama a question that HE didn't answer very well, and suddenly Joe is in the crosshairs. This is not a political hack, not a politician, but an everyday person like you and I. He's gotten an enema from the news media, for having the audacity to ask a question.

THe only good thing about 9/11 was seeing how politics was pushed aside and we were truly united. I guess I am a dreamer to think we could return to that at some point. Let's put America ahead of this stupid party politicing. I don't give a rat's ass who was responsible for disenfranchising these people; let's figure out how to make their votes count, regardless of who they are voting for.

My understanding is that the Fairfax County Registrar is enforcing a law that was sponsored by Bill Bolling while he was still a state senator in 2002 and put in place to address fears of actual voter fraud.

The law in Virginia states that an absentee ballot that contains both a request for the ballot and the selection for office must have a witness signature *and* (thanks to Bolling's law), the address of the witness. The Federal Absentee Write-In Ballot lacks the space for a witness address so some have not included it. That omission, under Bolling's law, invalidates the ballot. See http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+24.2-702.1 for the actual statute in question.

For a blog that has been very clear about the ultimate rule of law superseding all else, it seems interesting to me that you actually appear willing to bend the law in some case. I thought the law was the law.

And, as of yesterday, Fairfax County had received fewer than 300 of the Federal Absentee Write-In Ballots (FWAB). Those are the only ballots impacted by this decision. It is not known at this point how many of the less than 300 don't meet the requirements set forth in Virginia code. If this race is decided by fewer than 300 votes, then I'm sure there will be grounds for court action to have the rejected ballots counted (since there is a question of whether Federal law pre-empts State law in this case).

Finally, let's look at who your "liberal voting official" is in this case. Robert R. Sparks is the Chair of the Electoral Board. By tradition, the Chair of the Electoral Board is usually selected from the party not in the Board Chair's office. Looking at VPAP, Sparks has a history of supporting Republican Candidates (including $1,100 to Connolly's opponent in 2003--Republican Mychele Brickner). Sparks has never contributed to a Democrat (at least according to the records I found).

So let's see who's really disenfranchising voters. It's a law that was sponsored and pushed through the legislature by Bill Bolling (Republican) and is being enforced by the Fairfax County Electoral Board (headed by a Republican).

Satire/Joke:

I was so depressed last night thinking about the upcoming election, I called Lifeline.

Got a freakin' call center in Pakistan.
I told them I was suicidal.
They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.

Connolly - on his own - can't make a change, but he is in a position to work with Lt Gov Bolling and use their clout to get around this law.

It is worthwhile to note that Lt Governor Bill Bolling introduced this Bill while a Senator in the GA. Neither he nor the GA bothered to take the necessary steps to update the law when changes were made by the Federal Government.

Perhaps all felt Federal trumped State - and there
was no need to revisit the law. None the less there is now a challenge and if Federal does trump state in this case, now would be a good time for Lt Gov Bolling to step up to the podium and make a statement.

If Bolling hides in the background and just one absentee military voter is denied the right to vote, I hope you will remember this when you vote. Bolling is running for re-election.

But are the Registrars State or county employees? Regardless of which, I am guessing that the one in Fairfax County would be more than willing to do King Gerry's bidding.

Yes, this will blow up in his face as though it is his fault. Nice try. The Board of Elections is a state agency. But yes, if you want this to blow up in his face, then have fun watching it happen in your own little fantasy world. You obviously have no political acumen.
