The DC Examiner notes that some illegal aliens may want to return home, but may not have the financial resources to actually make the trip:
Experts say the Washington region’s immigrant population remains stable, even as an economic downturn and tougher enforcement have caused the first recent decreases in illegal immigration nationally.
National organizations have seen the number of illegal immigrants decrease, with estimates ranging from 500,000 to 1.3 million fewer people in the United States illegally. But locally, factors from a high demand for hospitality workers for the upcoming inauguration to the difficulty of returning home seem to be keeping immigrants here.
I figure that if an illegal alien has really decided that they want to return home and stop breaking the law, perhaps there’s something we can do to help. A bus ticket for one person from Washington, DC to Laredo, TX costs $163 online. Getting from Laredo to wherever they need to go will run some more, but it can’t be all that expensive for some sort of mass transit from our border to someplace like southern Mexico or El Salvador. I figure if illegal aliens are having trouble raising funds for these tickets, maybe we could help them out by providing non-refundable one-way tickets and some goodies to make their travels more enjoyable.
Would you be willing to pitch in to help an illegal alien do the right thing? I would.

To be honest, no, I would not contribute. What would prevent them from returning should they decide that they are far better off here? I would prefer that they be officially “escorted” out of the country. Yes, of course in that case I would be footing the bill via my tax dollars, but at least documentation would exist of their “removal,” which would hopefully/possibly serve to make them consider the consequences of returning and getting caught after officially being deported. The time has passed for soft measures. We need to send the correct message, and passively providing the means for their potentially temporary trip back home IS NOT IT.
They would probably think it was great to get a free ride home for the holidays.
I think ICE will cover the trip’s expenses, and they can walk for all I care.
Sounds like a good use of TARP funds. The recovery would benefit from the loss of excess Laborers.
I’d rather pay to put them in jail and then deport them than to hand them a ticket. They can pile into vans and go home. Gas is not so expensive. It cost them 10-20 grand to get in here but there’s no charge to get out.
Wow Obama and McCain better hurry up with that Amnesty, before they give up and self-deport.
I have already helped them stay here and paid to send their criminal kids to school and paid taxes to cover the social programs they use. The only way I would help them home is by giving them a kick in the backside.
This is off topic but let me ask. Verizon or some of their subcontractors are on my corner right now preparing to dig for putting down FIOS lines.
It’s obvious the crew is largely illegal.
Is there a best place to raise hell about this with? I’d like to target my anger towards effective channels.
The County gave these guys permission to dig I would think? Does anyone know a best way to raise this issue with the County?
This is back on topic.
I would be willing to contribute to such an effort, if we had some sort of reasonable assurance we were not adding to the traffic in the revolving door, as a previous poster implied.
I’ve always held the position that the individual illegal aliens are not the real culprits in this invasion, just as in the 15th to 19th centuries, the real culprits in the slave trade were not the slaves themselves. The real culprits in this modern day slave trade are the people who benefit from the invasion. Those are the owners of the flop houses, the businesses that hire them, the real estate agents who sell to them, the bankers who loan to them, the ESOL teachers who teach their progeny, the clergy who harbor and minister to them, etc.
Consequently, I would be willing to put my money where my mouth is and pony up a few bucks to send some illegal aliens back to their homelands, knowing that I would be hurting the traitorous, leeching scum who feather their beds with the fruits of the aliens’ labors.
If this idea has any legs, maybe we could coordinate something with someone at a border city to at least make sure our “clients” walk across a bridge.

Rick, can you see all that from your basement window? I think you should finish your chocolate milk, get dressed, and go outside and give them “what for”. Imagine, hiring illegal aliens to work in your neighborhood! What was Verizon thinking?
Correction, I meant to say “what fer”. I forgot for a minute that I was in old Virginny.
Then they could walk right back over when they see fit.
I prefer this idea. Send them to some remore island that resembles Guantanemo Bay, armed with nothing but cell phones. Make their relatives bail them out of it. This would cost them money and provide disincentive for their whole venture.
I do not hate the illegal immigrants themselves. Mevertheless I do feel that they will either come in greater or lesser numbers depending almost solely on how they are treated and what the likely outcome or expected value of the venture is for them. We have to inflict some suffering. Not genocide obviously. Nor physical beating. Detention that causes financial hardship? I’m all for that.
BothParties:
I think by “suffering” you mean “punishment” for their legal transgression. “We” cannot do that. It’s not an option. Only the government can do that.
Only if there was a guarantee they couldn’t come back..um…like a huge, triple layer, razor wire fence protected by border patrol and national guard with automatic weapons.
Otherwise, it’s just more of my money going to them instead of to my family.

Fewer jobs. Less tax revenue. Fewer reosurces for those on the edge of unemployment and welfare.
Let’s eject the illegal aliens and save our resources for legal residents.
This sounds like a way to get them back home for the holidays at our expense. Many of them return for the winter anyway.
Your landscaper will be hiring again in March, so that is when they will be back. Ever wonder why outsourcing is cheaper? It is because they can pay less in wages. In this case Verizon is paying less to the contractor than it would pay its own employees.
The contractor may or may not be hiring illegals, but he is certainly paying less.

Speaking of which…
Yes RD I want a “puinishment” which involves “suffering” (i.e. not a $5000 fine) and I wasn’t advocating that we form a posse and kidnap anyone.
Both etc:
You’ve got to re-direct that anger toward those traitorous countrymen of ours who are responsible for the invasion. The illegals are just pawns. They need to go, and they need to stay, but our energy and resources should be focused on their facilitators.
Oh, believe me, the anger is there towards those people. I call them our “elites” or “ruling class”.
Meanwhile, rather than sitting and waiting for the revolution to occur in American politics, we’re fighting the good fight. In most cases our elites have innoculated themselves against persecution for indirectly hiring illegal aliens, or maintaining a facade of doubt about it. GWB saw to that, he oversaw a deliberate construction of this facade during most of his Presidency, as part of his push for AMnesty 2006/2007. I think that in 2008 he finally relized that the Latino vote is not so much the future of the Republican party, but rather the end of its ability to compete, and he now makes halfway-effective gestures towards use of e-verify, increasing deportations, etc.
But there is no innoculation against the individuals themselves who come here illegally, and commit identity fraud. Congress can facilitate home loans and drivers liscences for them, but couldn’t quite innoculate them against prosecution for being here illegally. So they are the currenmt battleground. Until, hopefully, the American people continue to get a better grasp on this issue and insist on more from our ruling class and their political hacks.
I thought the credit card companies giving credit cards to illegal aliens was a brilliant business move.
What’s the problem with giving a line of unsecured credit to someone who can create a new identity in an afternoon?
It’s no problem at all when the government is giving bailouts like crazy to those who made loans and extended credit to illegals.
Recommended bumper sticker for Qtr 1, CY 09: Where MY Bailout?
I sent someone back one time. She was hear on a tourist visa. About a month before her visa expired, I convinced her to return to her country. I even paid for the plane ticket.
They’re about to do a bailout of sorts for everyone who makes less than $150,000 per couple, a $1000 giveaway (I forget the limit for individuals). (Phases down to zero at $170,000). Which peeves me as my wife and I earn more and will get screwed on that, just like last year, while people who don’t even pay any taxes will get money back at all of our expenses and on borrowed money, for the sake of “stimulus”.
I believe in progressive taxation but this structure is some lazy BS. It’s like an extra 5% tax rate on income I/we earn after the first 150 grand.
Both Parties are Colluding Against Me …
I think it’s 75 grand for individuals - that’s what it was last year anyway.
The main reason it bugs me is because they are changing the tax amounts ON THE FLY. And I think they should cap it at some amount, not give you zero stimulus if you earn over a certain amount which is not really all that much around this area. A couple making 149,000 gets 1000 back plus 300 per kid, and a couple making 170,000 gets zilch. Lazty, sloppy, unfair, and of course it was fine with Bush and will be fine with Obama.
Might Putty, you need to have earned 3 grand I think to qualify, so you might be out of luck too.
@BothPartiesCollude:
I sure wish I had magical illegal detecting powers like you do. You’re so cool.
Well I have them with 90% plus accuracy.
Why should we pay for their return in that form? Let them be and they will get into trouble and be deported. I do not want to give money to them in that way. I will let them get deported so it is documented!! This way if they decide to come back when things are better, they will have that over their head. Things will get better, not because Obama is in office, but because the bubble has burst and it has to ride out the wave.
BTW, this is going to be a historic election when they find out that the one doesn’t have the right credentials to even be POTUS. I can hardly wait. Hopefully it will be before he is sworn in so we do not have to go through the impeachment process. Guess ole Joe will be POTUS. He better start getting ready!!

Verizon “Fiber” is in NJ. I can’t remember the guy’s name, but he came down for a couple a days to “see for himself” that Ivy was picking up illegals in Vienna and taking them to the sites. A few Ivy contractors were sacked the next morning.
According to Verizon no one is allowed to work on any Verizon project without first going through a safety course - that includes contractors.
If you call Customer Service, they should be able to forward you to the right person.
Just as a curiosity - was the contractor Ivy or the other one?

The County has no say - that land is Verizon Right-of-Way.
Medic’s and BothParties’ points are well taken and I tend to agree. However, if an illegal alien came to me and explained he/she would go back to his homeland if only he had the means to get there, I probably would help him/her out with a bus ticket at least to the border of their choice. I guess I’m just a little kind-hearted in some respects.
/\/\3|)iç 64 - who is the responsible party to validate the credentials of a Presidential Candidate (or President Elect)?
Surely there must be a government body that is responsible. Did you know that George Romney (Mitt’s Dad) was born in Mexico?
junes I’m not sure. I’ll be here again early next week and I’ll try to see what I can figure out.
Elitist of the Day - Lorraine Henderson

The regional director of Homeland Security, Customs, and Border Protection was charged today with repeatedly hiring illegal immigrants to clean her Salem home after one cleaner wore a wire during an undercover investigation.
…
“You have to be careful ’cause they will deport you. Be careful,” Henderson told the housekeeper in a conversation Sept. 9, 2008, that was recorded on the wire. “Wow, wow, if you leave they won’t let you back … you can’t leave, don’t leave … ’cause once you leave you will never be back.”
Now how about a raid on Nancy Pelosi’s vineyard? Or is that too much to ask for.
This is the type of story that drives me crazy. This lady should be put to death for her crimes. She was placed in a positive of National Security and abused her powers. She placed the entire Nation at risk, and for that she should receive the death penalty.

A case that challenges President-elect Barack Obama’s name on the 2008 election ballot citing questions over his citizenship has been scheduled for a “conference” at the U.S. Supreme Court.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?pageId=81484
This conference was set for today Dec 5. Any info on the outcome?
citizenofmanassas, you honestly believe that the death penalty is the appropriate legal punishment in the above case?
Sure. She was in a position of National Security was charged as part of her job to keep illegals out of the Country, and she not only abused her position, she encouraged illegals to stay. Who is to say that a relative of one of those illegals could not have been a terrorist who benefited from this?
Once you start to provide shelter, or breaks for illegals, you open yourself up to blackmail and other actions that can jeopardize National Security. So, in my opinion the DP is justified in this case.
talk to Mitt Romney - he even spoke spanish to his illegal immigrant house labors.
What most of us do not get, is that they (your gov;t and big business) do not want to fix illegal immigration - they do not see it as a problem.
And it’s only a problem for them if you won’t reflexively pull the voting lever for them
But locally, factors from a high demand for hospitality workers for the upcoming inauguration to the difficulty of returning home seem to be keeping immigrants here.
That, and the fact they are counting on a “total” amnesty is keeping them here. The figure it is just a mater of time (a short time at that) that OBAMARAMA will come out with his amnesty play and try to push it down the throats of the American population. Just look at the high government position that OB appointed the vice-president of LA RAZA to last week!
Amnesty is on the ajenda for sure!

Approach the gringo supervisor of this group and confont him with the question - are there illegal aliens working in this group. If he refuses to answer, ask for his supervisor’s name and inform him you will take it to the highest levels to get a true answer. Watch them scatter especially if some of the suspected illegals speak english. Say you will call ICE if necessary to get an answer.
