Mother Arrested In Death of Child
By Greg L | 13 January 2009 | Crime, Prince William County | 15 Comments
Fox News is reporting a new development in the case of the 13 year old developmentally disabled girl who was missing and later found dead miles from her home. Her mother has been arrested. The MJM has more.
How utterly depressing.

looks like they found enough to arrest and hold while they gather more information. it’s still not being called a homicide, just a “suspicious” death. I suspect it wont be long before the charges are upgraded, hence the no bond situation.
Sad. I posted another article from the MJM that appeared to focus on the family.
MJM says that she made the story at the Library up and that are now saying that she placed the body in the creek. They are not saying or either are not sure if she was dead when she was put in the car and taken there.
someone else could have killed the child and she just helped cover it up. we’ll probably here more in the coming days, this is sad. too many murders of people going on around here. Rapes, murders, molestations, seems as we have a crime wave here at times.
People should stop commenting on the article(s) in the MJM. The comments will be used by any defense lawyer to ask for a change of venue. The judge will deny the motion, which will then be subject to appeal, thus prolonging the litigative process and making it more expensive.

Ever hear of Freedom of Speech? This is a subject everyone should be concerned about. Do you think a defense lawyer is going to read this blog and the few comments made then ask for a change in venue? To much Perry Mason I guess!
Yeah, Anonymous, a defense lawyer will read this blog and the MJM blogs and every other blog he/she can pull up.
Freedom of Speech also includes the freedom to refrain from speech. It should be exercised often.
I am waiting for another one of those bizzare arguments to appear in the MJM comments that the accused is actually the vicitm, because of her skin color, and it’s all George Bush’s fault. It’s his fault that the girl had devopmental issues, and his fault that her adoptive mother allegedly killed her. It doesn’t matter that he wasn’t president when she was born. I disagree about stopping comments. Will the MJM stop LTE’s too. The press must be free. It’s still up to the judge, and perhaps an appeals judge…regardless.
advocator,
never thought of it that way, but…you are correct of course.
If you’re waiting for that post, Anonguy, why don’t you go ahead and write it? After all the first one that riled you up so much was written by someone who was just trying to stir up trouble.
This is such a tragedy for this young girl. She is in a better place, now, but what did she have to endure to get to that better place?
Hopefully her death was quick and painless.
So where’s the rest of the story? Mother charged but charged with what? Apparently not murder. Girl is dead and mother charged with filing false police report. Lot of question remain unaswered by PD and news media.
Was Lexie abused by her adoptive mother? Did our legal system and Prince William County Social Services have a chance to remove her from the home and save this girl, but dropped the ball instead? According to this Washinton Post article, it seems that this is exactly what happened:
Disabled Girl Described Beatings, Neighbor Says

Chilling to those of us who try to do the right thing, if you report abuse to Prince William County Social Services, they will give the abuser your phone number. No guarantee of confidentiality there.

Followup information on this case has been non-existant for the past week or so. Mother charged with filing false police report? In what way? Didn’t she report daughter missing? Next we find she has been arrested but what are the details on that? What were the results of the autopsy? Was the girl murdered or did she die of natural/accidental causes? There is a lot to this story that doesn’t pass the smell test.
I haven’t seen any updates regarding this story and I’m very troubled by that. Has the investigation gone bad? Have not been able to conclude or pin point fault?
