SCHIP: Illegal Aliens To The Head Of The Line

By Greg L | 16 January 2009 | National Politics, Illegal Aliens | 20 Comments

Wouldn’t you know, Obama isn’t even in office and Congress is pushing through taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens.  CNS News is reporting on the abomination that is the expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, a tremendously dumb idea previously (and surprisingly) vetoed by an otherwise spendthrift President Bush due to the tremendous expense.  Now that Maximum Leader is poised to seize power, our feckless elected officials now want to hand him a bill vastly expanding entitlement spending at the same time were running massive federal deficits, and people who shouldn’t even be in this country are going to benefit.  If it passes the Senate, it’s almost certain to be signed into law.

With hardly any debate, this new version of the atrocity is even worse than the ones President Bush deep sixed.  Gone are the prohibitions against illegal aliens getting publicly-funded health care benefits.  Requirements for beneficiaries to provide reasonable identification or proof of citizenship in order to obtain these benefits are gone as well.   In order to get free healthcare, applicants need only provide a Social Security Number, and we all know how tough those are to forge, don’t we?  The bill also would provide benefits for parents, and “phase out over time” existing coverage for single adults, as if a phaseout of entitlement health benefits would ever actually happen in this legislative environment.  This completely guts whatever thin facade remains of the intent of this program, which was to provide a safety net for the poorest of the poor children.

Welcome to “free” government healthcare, folks, because if an illegal alien can get it, in no time actual citizens of the United States will be wondering why illegal aliens are on the gravy train they’re excluded from because they might legally earn more than $62,000 a year.  The SCHIP program is the first effort to impose HillaryCare on the country with illegal aliens are at the head of the line.  If they don’t commit identity fraud and admit they’re illegal, they can’t document legal income, instantly qualifying for this taxpayer-funded largesse.  If they do commit identity fraud with a fake Social Security Number, a rampant problem nowadays, and don’t falsify earnings they still can get benefits most of us wouldn’t qualify for as long as they don’t pull down more than $62,000 a year.

Welcome to your new America, where illegal aliens obtain preferential treatment from our government.  Let’s hope not too many of us end up losing our jobs.  Illegal aliens need you to pay your taxes.

You just might want to contact your Senator.

Here’s what the cost currently is of providing healthcare benefits to illegal aliens.  Just imagine what those costs will rise to once we provide even more, and encourage more illegal aliens to come to the country illegally in order to obtain these benefits.

Rubenstein cites a recent construction boom among the nation’s hospitals. As many as 60 percent of America’s hospitals are either under construction or have plans for new facilities.

‘But we have a two-tier hospital system in the U.S. Hospitals in poor areas – that serve primarily uninsured immigrants and Medicaid patients – cannot afford their facilities,’ he writes. ‘The uncompensated costs are killing them. In California, 60 emergency departments (EDs) have closed to avoid the uncompensated costs of their largely illegal alien caseloads.’

Illegal aliens use emergency rooms more than twice as often as U.S. citizens, and providing their uncompensated care has been the death of many emergency departments.

In 2006, more than 46 percent of illegals did not have medical insurance. Although illegal aliens are not supposed to be eligible for Medicaid, they receive Emergency Medicaid and their children are entitled to all benefits that legal immigrants receive.

Because hospitals are forced to care for Medicaid recipients, the government program never covers full costs of service. It underpaid hospitals by $11.3 billion in 2006, he wrote.

Everybody says “I hope Obama Succeeds” I hope he fails so miserably that nobody votes for a Democrat for 100 years. Both parties have sold our country out. And I suspect that both the senators from Virginia will be voting for this thing too. They both have Obama for brains.

Guess how Frank Wolf voted on the SCHIP bill? He voted yes.

If you want to contact him and let him know how you feel about his support for illegal aliens receiving healthcare, use this contact form:

    It’s not Obama, though,

This is all about congress. There’s a reason they have a lower approval rating than Bush. Between liberal Dems and sell-out Republican “centrists”, this is the kind of thing we’re going to get!

The Federal Govenrment did not intend SCHIP be extended to illegal aliens, but gave states the option to expand coverage to illegal aliens.

The VA General Assembly voted to extend the State allocation to cover illegal aliens. So, VA has been doing this all along, as have many other states. The VA General Assembly also voted to provide tax funded pre-natal care and nutritional subsidies (WIC and Food Stamps ) for illegal aliens BEFORE their anchor babies are born.

By extending coverage to illegal aliens, services are spread thin and qualifications guidelines adjusted to exclude American citizens (pregnant women and children) who might otherwise be covered.

The Federal government is amending the law to mirror what most states are already doing. Virginia has become a purple state and we can expect to see more liberal programs introduced as the red and blue bleed into one another.

It’s TEOTWAWKI. Face it folks. Elections have consequences. In an age of information we are a nation of ignorance. We deserve the government that we get.The commicrates and some Quislings in the GOP are going to destroy the very thing that supported our democracy: The capitalist systemn and are handing our country over to illegals and the UN. Even if we survive the next eight years as a nation, a new Reagan with a majority conservative GOP won’t be able to undo the damage wrought by Pelosi/Reid/Obama. Did we ever get rid of the “New Deal” and “War on Poverty” programs that established the welfare state? The Federal system is irretriveably broken. Beyond national defense, name one thing the Fed is doing effectively and effeciently? I will mourn the passing of our Republic, but I do accept that it is gone.

    illegals are scumbags,

they should all be shipped back, now!

I hate going to an emergency room and them essentially being about 75 percent of the waiting you.

illegals cause more harm than many notice, maybe when people start dying because of all the ER’s closing they’ll figure it out.

An elected official looking out for Americans and legal immigrants. What a concept.

With unemployment at a 16-year high, Spotsylvania County Supervisor Benjamin Pitts said he wants to make sure any jobs left are given to those who are legally allowed to work in the country.

He is supporting a recommendation from the Virginia Local Government Coalition on Illegal Immigration, a group of 12 local governments studying ways to combat illegal immigration.

That coalition, of which Spotsylvania is a member, has asked the General Assembly to amend its public procurement act to require all vendors doing business in the state to verify the work status of their employees.

“In my opinion, we have a responsibility to do whatever we can to make sure that any job vacancies are filled by those who are legally eligible to be employed within the United States,” Pitts said.

Responsibility? Did I mention WHAT A CONCEPT?
Please, sir, may we have some more?
    …………………………………………………………………………………………
Thanks Jake and MJ for the article I thought you would want this being it mentions Virginia. Go wave this under your elected officials nose and see what they say. I bet they turn beet red from embarrasment.
It is past time for this country to start to look out for the legal immigrant and citizens of this country.Or we can give pink slips. How about we hire illegals to have our local city and state jobs . They are so bent on having them here
let’s let them have your jobs in government.

Vote the incumbants out, every single election, regardless of what the office is. We can impose our own term limits. We must have representative government!

Funny how many people want to abolish abortion - because the life is innocent, but providing healthcare to CHILDREN is something they do not want to provide. Is it the child’s fault that their parents are illegal immigrants?

The program is not just for Illegal Immigrants (actually, I am not sure that the program is for illegal immigrants) - there are many people in the US, citizens, working hard, with no benefits - and to deny them healthcare for a few bucks is a disgrace.

I am all for the immigrants to go home - but we the US citizens are to blame, as WE employ them - and look the other way when it is to our benefit.

I still think we need a national identifier - without it, we cannot identify who you are - anytime you mention it, there are those that instill fear in order to prevent it from happening, this fear is just to avoid the topic, so that the problem cannot be fixed.

    Pat,

Please click on the link about the SCHIP bill above so you can see exactly what the SCHIP does.

No, it is not the children’s fault that their parents are illegal aliens - but our taxpayer money should only go to help the poor American citizen children in our country, not the children of illegal aliens. Illegal aliens can pay their own healthcare bills.

When the Hoopla Is Over Will Obama Let Down Mexicans?

    By Allan Wall

The hope in Mexico is that Obama will grant an amnesty to Mexican illegal aliens in the U.S.

Tomorrow, January 20th, 2009, is the scheduled inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States. What does this mean for the U.S., and the world?

Does it mean the departure of the wicked George W. Bush, and his replacement with the marvelous Barack Obama who will bring peace, put an end to fear, and stop global warming?

Thats the sort of over-the-top rhetoric weve been hearing. Many Obama supporters display a disturbing cult-like fervor, and the mainstream media didnt even bother to hide its pro-Obama bias during the election.

Nevertheless, the Bush-as-root-of-all-evil crowd is in for a real letdown when they discover that Barack Obama cant deliver all thats been promised.

Certainly the Bush administration has a lot to answer for, and its incompetence helped pave the way for Obamas victory. But after January 20th, its time for Obama to actually deliver something concrete.

Disappointment is inevitable. In fact, Obama is not even president but some of the sheen is already wearing off.

Ludicrously enough, Obama has already been blamed for the fighting in Gaza. In Iran, his posters have been publicly burned and hes been ridiculed by the chief of the powerful Council of Guardians. Who can doubt that Obama will not satisfy everybody in the Middle East. After all, who could?

Venezuelas President Hugo Chavez, who was supposed to get on famously with Obama, has already turned against him. Bigmouth Hugo has accused Obama of meddling in Venezuela, and says Obama has the same stench as President Bush. (The stench part likely alludes to Hugos calling Bush the devil in a speech to the United Nations.)

Obama isnt even president yet and already he has international critics. After his administration gets rolling, how can he avoid offending more people? For a U.S. president any U.S. president that must be impossible nowadays.

The truth is, we dont know for certain how Obama will govern. Will he follow his far left background, or govern from the middle? How will he get along with Congress? Neither Obamas detractors nor his supporters can really tell us.

Nor is there much in Obamas biography that can enlighten us. Except for a short stint as editor of Harvard Law Review, Obama has zero experience as a public administrator.

And despite all the calls for hope and change, what objective observer can doubt that Obama will continue many Bush policies, just as Bush continued some Clinton policies?

In Mexico there are some great expectations about the new Obama administration. Polling indicates that among Mexicans who had an opinion (because all didnt) most preferred Obama over McCain.

Last summer I heard a Mexican talking who thought Obama already was the president! Given the media coverage, thats understandable.

The hope in Mexico is that Obama will grant an amnesty to Mexican illegal aliens in the U.S. However, those who think that may be disappointed.

In the first place, a U.S. president cant simply snap his fingers and grant an amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Although he doesnt get credit for it in Mexico, George W. Bush tried repeatedly to give illegal aliens an amnesty. Bush failed, not for lack of trying but because illegal alien amnesty is quite unpopular, and the legislation was stopped by grassroots opposition.

The same thing could happen to Obama if he tries.

In the Senate a new bill that could provide an amnesty has already been introduced, but who knows what will become of it?

Furthermore, despite lip service, illegal alien amnesty is probably not near the top of Obamas priorities.

If reactivating the economy and creating jobs are Obamas priorities, then how keenly are American voters going to view amnesty or a guest worker program?

In fact, Obamas chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told an Hispanic activist that he does not foresee comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty) during Obamas first administration.

Not only that, but according to a Pew Hispanic Center poll, for U.S. Hispanics, immigration is not even their most important political issue. It came in at #6, with the economy at #1.

Therefore, enacting an amnesty for Mexican illegal aliens may not be any easier under Obama than it was under Bush. Which means that, eventually, after all the hoopla and euphoria wears off, its quite possible that Barack Obama is going to disappoint Mexicans

to occupy the big house is not only an illegal alien, he is a liar, anti-American
a Muslim communist and last, but not least, a draft dodger! He never
registered for the draft, yet will be known as “Commander-in-Chief”.
The guy has been on public dole all his life just as so many of his ilk in

Actually, states have the option of diverting a portion of Federal SCHIP funds to pay for pre-natal care for illegal aliens. So it’s not just health care for the kids.

Allowing the continuation of maternity migration for citizenship of convenience and associated perks is going to be our down fall. Other industrialized nations (with the exception of Canada) reversed birthright citizenship because they knew it was a “right” that would be abused and create a financial burden.

Some countries care about their citizens - too bad ours isn’t on of them.

SCHIP is a tidy little twofer.

A creeping backdoor amnesty bailout/stimulus for illegal aliens as well as ‘Spring training for universal health care.’ Rahm Emanuel made that statement back in 2007. Using children and immigrants to shove socialism down our throats is nothing new.

    Billy Bob,

The Outrage was demonstrated by the electorate in Nov. 08 by both those voting legally and illegally!

On another issue: Was good to see Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean get commutations but I would have preferred FULL PARDONS.
