Really, John Gault, you were able to subtract one number from another...all by yourself? Bravo!

Yep, the Democrat won.

Your conclusions are, of course, lacking in reason. Rather than benefitting from Obama’s stunning victory in November, Bulova was challenged with getting burned-out (D) voters to the polls. Truly, it was her exceptional campaign organization that won the day. Your “buyer's remorse” assertion is baseless navel-gazing.

Did the math. Looks like the socialist won by about 1200 votes out of 100K or so placed. Far from a mandate. Still hope for Fairfax, although I had written it off long ago. Looks like the 'I"s were a factor, but no telling how the 1K or so votes would have broken, had they not been on the ballot.

So, what conclusion can we draw here? Fairfax still has a lot of "R"s who are willing to show up for the right conservative candidate, in a special election. I am sure that the socialist benefited from the Master Socialist's November victory coat-tails. The fact that the race was this close, in a previously socialist-leaning district indicates that the electorate is feeling some buyer's remorse. Could this be fall-out from the realization that in November they elected not Democrats, but rather dyed-in-the-wool socialists to the Fed? Could this be the early signs of the electorate's tendency to vote for a true check-and-balance system of government? If the trend holds, this would bold well for the GOP in November. I am sure 'I Bleed" will poo-poo this analysis, but even he or she cannot dismiss the fact that only 1200 votes out of the total cast gave his or her commie....er...candiate the victory.

I looked at the returns, but haven't done the math. Looks to be close. What's the total?

VOTE HERRITY (TODAY)!...

The polls are open here in Fairfax County, so if you live here, you need to go and vote for this fine fellow:

Leadership.

What's that? You're looking for a good reason?

Yeah, as we've discussed before, I'm not the best guy to ask for that...

On another note:

Richmond- Attorney General Bob McDonnell announced this morning that he will resign as Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia effective February 20th. The Attorney General is resigning as he begins his campaign for Governor in earnest. Since 1985 every Attorney General running for Governor, both Democratic and Republican, has stepped down from the position in order to ensure that taxpayers have a full-time Attorney General running the Commonwealth’s law firm, and that the Office is free from politics during a campaign year.

McDonnell is one of the good guys, regardless of whether you agree with his positions. Kudos for recognizing the conflict in a run for governor and holding the AG position.
