I am conservative by nature but often vote for Democrats because the Republicans just look out for big business. The only Republican that is truly Conservative is Ron Paul and he is treated like a joke. He makes sense to me.

Under any other circumstances, I would be against it. However, when the property in question is a clear public nuisance, and is having a measurably detrimental effect on the City, then I would agree with the action in this case. I compare this to the abandoned building that is frequently used by crack-heads. The City must expend disproportionate service resources to deal with the issue. Therefore, seize it. In the case of Mr. Fenandez, he has cost the City a great deal of time and money, dealing with this reindeer games. The sign has had a detrimental effect on the old town historic district, which the city is trying to promote. Mr. Fernandez wants to put up an office bulding on the site, but the property is zoned residential. He is trying to bully the city into rezoning the property. Don’t believe for a second that this is about “immigrant rights”. Mr. Fernandez cares about making money. When his overcrowded flophouse burned, he collected the insurance, but continued to see dollar signs. He could have rebuilt a residential structure, and turned it inot a bed and breakfast with a dining room. There are very successful ones operating in Clifton and elsewhere, in areas that don’t have half the attraction as Old Town Manassas. Lord knows Old Town could use an alternative to “Ye Old Towne Inn”. Had he chosen this route, the City would be throwing tax incentives at him, instead of legal proceedings. But Mr. Fernandez is not a smart man. Not a reasonable man. He wants to “swing for the fences” and put up a piece of commercial realestate to rival Morias Place, or the new building going up at the corner of Grant and Church.

Notice how the orignal structure “burned” right about the same time that Manassas announced the B3.5 initiative? He wanted to cash in on that. Problem is, the area is zoned residential, not mixed use.

So, to all of you ignorantly socialist liberals with hairy armpits (men and women), sporting your chic Che’ gear who are so ignorant as to believe that Mr. Fernandez has any concern about the plight of the immigrant person of the Latino persuasion, I would suggest that you check your premise. It doesn’t add up. However, when you do a little research regarding Mr. Fernandez and his interactions with the City of Manassas, you can see his motive clearly.

A little park, situated next to the Manassas Museum would be a very nice addition to the Cityscape.

That appears to be his modus operandi. Hope the judge hits him with a “stiff” fine and warn him to cease this activity.

Put up a wall without a permit, defy a stop work order.

Get a court date, show up, ask for a continuance.

Get a some press and national exposure within the Mexica Movement.

Take the wall down on the evening before your new court date.

Show up for court and tell the judge the wall is gone.

Repeat again and again.
