mnd, those tens of thousands of new homes wouldn’t have been built had Disney’s American been built there instead. And you can bet that Disney would have paid for a good transportation infrastructure so people could get to their park unhindered. Plus we’d have a huge source of tax revenue flowing in to the county. But those morons 15 years ago didn’t know what they heck they were doing and now we’ve got this mess.

ALL elected officials are a joke nowadays anyways, so it’s no surprise.

They open the floodgates to illegal immigrants (ie, look the other way, semi-encourage them, et al) and say that they will fight it. They don’t of course, it’s just that they want to appease you, the everyday taxpayer. So they tell you one thing and then back down later on because of the power plays that are going on in the halls of power. Oh, and pay up! It’s party time in government!

Our government is no longer For The People. Nossir…our government is for the money and the personal power and prestige. they vote themselves raises….BIG time retirement after serving only ONE term, for LIFE, no less!

Our government has and continues to fail us, but you know why we think it will change? Because we’re indignant and we’re not gonna take it!

Of course, it doesn’t change, just changes faces. We get all upset and angry at our representatives, and then they tell us one thing, and of course, down the road, change their minds. Ego! It’s such a bitch.

Our country has no god anymore. We’ve killed him. We now have no reason for morals. Morals? Bahh…just a bygone era of hand-wringing to the majority of this country. Some may cling to the hope that Christ will see them safely, but I can certainly say that this country really no longer cares about Jesus or God. They get in the way, you see…in the way of….PROGRESS!

Just go take a dump and study it for awhile….you’ll then see that our country is exactly like that dump you just took. No morals to it, nothing you can really do to make it change its ways. It is what it is…a load, and depending on what the United States of America eats, it gets smellier and more gross. But it’s an enlightened piece of poo!

Now go flush it down the toilet and wait for the next one to come.

As long as the public by into the LIE that someone else pays ” PROFFERS ” and that it is not a TAX you will never solve the transportation funding in VA. You loved to be told what you want to hear and do not have the brains to figure after 30 years that it is a failure. Paying 1/10 of 1 % for a transfer tax on the sale of properties while the home owners made hundereds of millions of profit over the past 30 years tax free is another reason the roads have not been able to be paid for.

Keep beleiving the lies and failure is what you get and deserve.

what I find most troubling is an elected official acting (and voting) one way then voting differently. I guess he was for it before he was against it. With this kind of record there may be a future in national politics.

I would like to note for the record that I introduced a motion at the Transportation Board meeting last Wednesday which would have restored all three “inside the beltway” projects to the approved list. Mike May of PW COunty voted for my motion, as did several “outside the beltway” jurisdictions, but we lost the vote. What was then approved was to release one of the hostage projects, and to keep the other two in the approved list, but with the requirement of a time-consuming multi-modal study which effectively puts them out of contention for stimulus funding and causes them to be delayed several years.

PWC Supervisors John Jenkins (D) and Martin Nohe (RINO) both have their heads stuffed so far up Arlington County Board Member Chris Zimmerman’s (D) ass (the main culbrit fighting against widening I-66 within the Beltway) that Zimmerman put a window in his fat liberal gut so that Jenkins and Nohe would find there way back to PWC during gridlock.

There was noting surprising about Jenkins vote. He’s been doing it for years, yet his people vote him in.He has a following that he tells one person and they get a crowd to show up to fight for what he wants. Just like the Tax Rate. His group was out there pleading for a higher rate. Why? I say let those that plead for a higher rate to pay a Hiher Rate. Since money is not a problem for them,let them pay.
Many households can’t afford any more taken out of their salaries.

But Jenkins sits there with 2 large retirements and his plush job as Supervisor.
And of course always thinks he is right.
He’s not and he’s a Bully.

What’s so surprising about his vote, Nohe did the same thing with regard to the NVTA tax package. The BOCS votes are little more than political cover and window dressing when they know, and accept, that their representatives will vote differently.

That was VA Bloggers post at TC, by the way. He’s been following this mess for a while now.

I absolutely agree that there have been way too many houses built with too little infrastructure improvements. But those houses are already built and are generating thousands of car trips. We can either face reality and help those people with their commutes, or incessantly whine about it and study things to death in hopes that it will somehow force people onto mass transit. We need pragmatic solutions now, not environmental extremism.

The real problem was that it was foolish and short sighted to approve building permits for tens of thousands of new homes reachable only by roads and highways already at capacity.

Proffers would have been an appropriate source of funding and would have had the side effect of putting the brakes on demand.

Its simply not reasonable for the 6 mile trip from Old Town Manassas to I-66 on Rt. 28 to take an hour during the mornings.

City and County Government MUST have a higher obligation to current residents and ensure that new development bear the costs of infrastructure capacity improvements.

(I live in a 1000 square foot Cape Cod built in 1956, for purposes of full disclosure.)
