Rule Of Law Resolution Effective In Gang Suppression

I suppose the memo outlining Chief Deane’s policy of doing everything possible to downplay the success of the Rule of Law Resolution hasn’t made it’s way down to the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force members yet, given a quote that appeared in today’s Manassas News & Messenger. Isn’t it interesting what happens when the Chief or his hand-picked public relations people aren’t filtering the truth for fear of potential policy impacts?
Though it has the potential to get worse, gang activity in Prince William is actually down slightly in the past year or so, [Detective Dennis Gill] said.
One reason is the county’s controversial policy of checking the immigration status of all criminal suspects taken into custody.
“The immigration policy the county passed definitely had an impact—in a positive way on the gangs,” he said.
Unfortunately, this leak of the truth is likely to be the last we’ll see, as this sort of actual transparency on the part of public employees will never be allowed to stand. Chief Deane says the Rule of Law Resolution can’t be shown to have any impacts, but the folks employed by him are telling a different story. Deane isn’t going to let that last very long. By reducing the number of illegal aliens unlawfully present in the county, we’ve seen enough of a decrease in gang activity that the Detectives charged with dealing with the problem see a clear and positive impact. If that’s the truth, Deane should be more upfront with that especially since there are significant policy implications to such a finding.
Here’s another fact that seems to have escaped the recent reports from the county police department. In 2007, five of the nine murders in the county were committed by illegal aliens, and a number of the perpetrators had connections with the MS-13 gang. This year, there have been zero murders committed by an identified illegal alien. So while five people lost their lives in violent crimes committed by people who shouldn’t be here in the first place in 2007, none lost their lives to persons who shouldn’t be here in 2008. Usually, when something good happens with crime statistics in a jurisdiction, local law enforcement is eager to take the credit. Maybe someone just forgot to tell Deane, or perhaps the burglary suppression unit managed to have something to do with this? You can never tell, eh?
In this year’s statistics, it seems like there’s a concerted effort to avoid making comparisons between 2007 and 2008 when it comes to illegal aliens. There’s also been no mention about the 20% of the inmate population at the regional jail that are illegal aliens in 2007 and whether that’s changed at all. Nor are we getting statistics of how many illegal aliens are being turned over for deportation. All of these statistics were things we were routinely being given in the past, and now we’re getting different sets of information. Curious.
About the only consistent information we’re getting specific to the illegal alien issue are the leaks of the truth such as the above, and the occasional snippet of off-the-record information from street officers, and not much of that seems to jive with information from official channels in the Police Department. While the overall aggregate statistics showing the 38% reduction in violent crime can’t be concealed, since that’s information reported to the FBI under federal mandate and someone would end up digging out in short order anyways, all other official information seems to be part of a shell game. When the unfiltered raw data comes out, it demonstrates the Rule of Law Resolution is undeniably working, however.
The truth always gets out there, somehow.

Ahh Chief Deane, master of obfuscation at it again I see. I remember watching him on TV during the debate on the resolution. He was called upon to assess the potential impact of the resolution on illegal aliens in the County and whether they would fall victim to racial profiling by the evil anglo police. He made the following statement to emphasize his even-handed approach “We are only interested in those illegal aliens who are breaking the law, not those who are not breaking the law”. My hat is off to you again Chief for your straightforward reporting of the statistics surrounding the effectiveness of the resolution.

I hope (for his sake) that Detective Gill cleared the newspaper story with the “Chief.” If he didn’t, he probably stepped in “doo doo.” It’s good to be “Chief.”

The “bright” site is too busy saying no illegal immigrants are responsible for any significant crime. They also have the audacity to say that Manassas City’s criime has gone down, and link it to hispanic enrollment in Manassas City’s schools going up!
To top it all off, hypocrite Elena goes to say some supervisor had a “private conversation” with her where he said he was ambushed in regards to the resolution. She won’t identify him by name. BUT, in another private conversation she had with Corey Stewart when he called her on the phone to invite her to be part of a committe on land use, she DID identify him by name and slammed him at the same time.
Apparently, hypocrite Elena will only honor privacy if it is someone she agrees with. Otherwise, forget the “private conversation” - she’ll divulge your identity if she disagrees with the private conversation and wants to slam you!
All supervisors, and other people, should be forewarned about hypocrite Elena’s tactics, before they engage her in “private conversations”!!!!
The antibvbl loons claim it’s OK for illegal aliens to have traffic violations. They neglect to mention that 5% of DUI’s were caused by illegal aliens. A DUI is like having someone who has no clue about firearms walking around with a loaded gun! It is just a matter of time a DUI is going to translate to somone being seriously injured or killed. But that’s OK, they keep telling you that more than 80% of the crimes caused by illegals just fall into the harmless driving offenses or other crimes.
I haven’t the slightest idea where the Gang rate is down.
Inthe past 2 weeks we have had at least 2 break& enters in Mar. Hills. I am sure there are more. Nothing is reported in the paper. So who is keeping track of all these break ins? There has been several in Lake Ridge and again nothing in the paper.It is feared that is Gangs, but what kind no one knows as no one has been caught. It usually is at 4;30 to 5;00 pm.
So everyone keep an eye out as these people are there to be caught.
I am not saying the Police has to give Details but it would help to know where this is happening and how often.

With reasoning skills like that, why shouldn’t Corey Stewart ask her to serve on the Land Use Committee? Wouldn’t doubt that in making his decision he factored into the equation the fact that he probably would be receiving not only Elena’s brilliant analysis, but also that of the other two Desperadoes. No way you can beat that, is there?
Elena, Alanna, and Katherine Gotthardt - the 3 loonies from antibvbl. Katherine Gotthardt’s posts in particular have a high degree of typing first, thinking later. It is noteworthy that Katherine Gotthardt was also asked to be on some land use committee, by another supervisor. Many of her posts are debunked and proved to be outright lies, and then she’ll make up some story as to why she posted what she did.
Elena has gone on record today saying she is not for the 287(g) program and thinks it is a waste of money. Apparently catching and deporting felons is not a high priority for her.
Detective Gill is a good person, and an excellent member of the police department. But none of that matters. Without knowing his words were at odds with Charlie Deane’s forward statements regarding gangs and the ties with gang membership, he has put his career on termination watch. The clock for his removal started the second Deane realized Gill’s statements were in oppostion to his public position and image.
If you work for Charlie Deane the best thing to do to advance your career or stay employed is to never make a statement to the press. Although Detective Gill is highly thought of he has damaged the Chief of Police by crossing the “policing through perception” standard used by the C.O.P. on all fronts when creating policy or handling police personnel.
Career advancement while working for Deane isn’t about leadership or successfully fighting crime. This also applies to simply keeping your job. If it was any other way PWC would be a safer place than it was 20 yrs. ago when the king first sat on his throne.
Regardless of the PD’s stats, it’s much safer in my neighborhood this spring than it was in the spring of 2007. In fact, it was safer in October of 2007 than it was that spring.
I have a feeling that maybe Chief Deane is running illegals in himself as a coyote … maybe someday he’s going to be stopped with a vanful of illegal aliens and thousands of dollars cash on hand. That’s one possible explanation for his behavior.

I think we really need to stand up and take a stand against keeping King Deane. Since there is a tea party on the 15th outsting the King would be fitting.
Seriously we need to start holding the supervisors accountable for holding Deane accountable. There is never much more than a grumble, no follow through like with the Rule of Law backing.

Charlie Deane remains employed by contract and answers only to the County Executive. The County Executive serves at the pleasure of the BOCS. Start contacting your BOCS representative and inform him/her that your vote during your next trip to the polls during the upcoming election will solely depend on if Charlie Deane remains on the throne as the Chief of Police. He has served in the VRS (Virginia Retirement System) for 50 yrs. I would say he is past the point of working for a retirement check.
If the BOCS gets enough heat from registered voters concerning Deane I believe they will direct the County Executive to start finding a replacement. If the County Executive doesn’t seriously consider removing Deane I believe he would be next. Local elections are so tightly contested it wouldn’t take many citizens voicing their voting intentions for the ball to start rolling.
Charlie Deane remaining as the C.O.P. reminds me of a saying……….a poor man wants to be rich, a rich man wants to be king, the king isn’t satisfied until he has everything. He serves as the Chief of Police, Jail Board member, deep ties in the Sheriff’s Office, and Criminal Justice Board position.
From this point forward it appears he is staying on the job long enough to have the influence to get a future county building named in his honor……like the mid-county public safety complex. Rumor has it.
Simple solution…FORCE Chief Deane to report illegal alien enforcement activities every month to the BOCS. Trend analysis can be performed to see how well he is doing. If Sheriff Joe can make it happen, Chief Deane can make it happen. Chief Deane needs to start DOING HIS JOB or someone else needs to assume his responsibilities.

I dont think the meant that (I hope they didnt) I think what they meant was that in 3rd world countries definitions of young are a bit more skewed than ours. a 30 something guy here would think an 18 year old girl is “young” a person in/from those countries might think 14 is acceptable while we would not as it would be illegal (and sick to boot) however there it’s ok in some places.
it’s really a matter of them failing to adopt our culture, an assimilation issue that runs afoul of the law. If you have spent some time down in those parts of the world you’ll find this is very true, a woman to them is fine to mess with if they are capable of birthing a child. Heck, in afganistan women cannot even complain when they are raped! the age of consent in those parts of the world are far lower than ours, they just feel that they can carry those laws/customs here and it will fly.

King Deane has never supported the Rule of Law Resolution and never will. So, if you want some truthful crime stats about the Rule of Law Resolution results, King Deane will have to be replaced or the sheriff will have to get off his dead ass and get more involved.

While I will not speak for Mr. Johnson, I would think that he too is just as smitten with your overwhelming accolades that you have bestowed upon us. For me - and I’m sure it was the same for Mr. Johnson - it was rather taxing while applying all those advanced analytical skills to reach the conclusions reached on these critical SOB (South of the Border) issues.
Think about the murder that occurred behind the 7-11 (PWC PKWY & RT 1) involving day laborers hanging out for work. Any experienced homicide investigator will tell you everyone who regularly loiters around that location looking for work either witnessed the incident or knows the suspect’s identity and where he can be found. The logical thing to do in order to solve the case would be to pressure those who witnessed this incident to come forward and cooperate with investigators. This is simply done by stepping up patrols and strictly enforcing all laws/ordinances until this group understands it is in the best interests of everyone to lead investigators in the right direction to solve this case so life at the scene of the crime can go back to normal.
But in PWC the C.O.P. orders detectives to halt questioning, and only contact potential witnesses/suspects if they are already in custody. What confuses me the most is this brutal crime occurred next to Fred Lynn Middle School where students frequently walk by the crime scene before/after school, and there seems to be no outrage about letting this group (possibly to include the murderer) continue to loiter around children typically from 11-14 yrs. old.
For the most part the community has seemed to except the fact a murderer is walking around Woodbridge without any fear of arrest or prosecution, and the police department has adopted a “let him go” policy because it appears to be the nice thing to do for the public image of the police.
With 2008 reports being the first year for illegal alien break out numbers, and a 10 month record at that, the “Number of Police Department Contacts with Suspected Illegal Aliens” category for 2009 may be more reflective than others.
While the press reports a drop of 22% in violent crime I do not put much stock in “lump sum” numbers presented as a percentage, as they are often misleading. How about reporting the 20% increase in category of murders?
I would be more interested to know the following. Of the 1,013 police department contracts with suspected illegal aliens, as per the report, what percentage of the entire illegal alien population in the county does this represent?

Cyberspace seems to work just fine and saves gas. I love to talk about ideas and find this efficient. Not aware of ever having bullied (or even attempted to bully) anyone, and certainly have not made any arrests. I used to have people to do that for me, but am a private citizen now. Just hate to see human minds go to rot right in front of me. Gotta go. My vast 2I workforce seems to have gotten grass clippings in the big pool.
I vote for Johnson to take Chief Deane’s place since it appears Johnson can get things done.

Anon 2235: do you really think it’s a good idea to drive all over creation to have a discussion about a cultural topic? Especially these days? Johnson invited me to meet (presumably somewhere in Prince William) to discuss anthropological issues concerning Hispanic child molestation patterns. I can have the exact same discussion sitting at home without taking the time and fuel to go meet him at the University or whatever academic forum he had in mind. Plus all of you other scholars can be part of the conversation. If I go to visit Johnson, you guys can’t be involved. So, I think my choice of media is a sound one. It’s the big pool that my vast workforce of 2Is keep getting the grass clippings in. I’d fire them, but they’d just go back to wherever they came from. They do better with the grottoes. But those have more setback into the landscaping. (I have to say this stuff just so as not to disappoint folks around here)
