In plain English, what the hell is the matter with this pinhead masquerading as a leader? An unannounced fly-over Ground Zero in Manhattan for the purpose of a photo op near the Statue of Liberty by a plane serving as a backup to Air Force One not to mention the accompaniment of the fighter jet escorts. As Chandler Bing on Friends would say, could that BE more insensitive?

Thousands of people working Monday, April 27, in New York City, on a calm, clear spring day, when unnecessary panic ensued thanks to an overzealous administration simply trying to provide a media photo. Apparently the flight was approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, but the FAA ordered an information blackout. The needless scare sent multitudes running for cover in what could have turned into an injury-laden panic.

Hey, while you’re at it Mr. Obama, why not send some brown-shirted goose-steppers into the local synagogue and a few guys in white hoods traipsing through a Selma church.

Therapists all around the New York metropolitan area are working overtime to begin with, now this idiotic decision, which White House spokesman Robert Gibbs claimed no knowledge. This is actually believable considering the man couldn’t find his own tuchus with both hands.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called this “a terrible mistake,” rightfully chiding the Obama administration. “If it had to be done, all kinds of public announcements should have been made. Why are we spending money on this?” After all the self-righteous talk criticizing the use of private planes, added “America’s Mayor.”

The price tag for this moronic stunt has been estimated to be $325, 835, said Tom Schatz with Citizens Against Government Waste. And even I, your humble scribe and avowed technotard, have heard of Adobe Photo Shop.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called this event “appalling… knowing full well that New Yorkers would still have the memory of 9/11 sketched in their minds.”

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) said he was “furious” that he had not been given an advance heads up and that if he had, he would have fought such an insensitive act.

There is no doubt a public announcement should have been made days in advance via multi-media sources to quell a potential panic, but this is typical of the thoughtlessness coming out of the Obama administration.

Meanwhile, while the apologist in chief is gallivanting around the world criticizing his own country and making nice with despotic dictators, back at home he has a Secretary of Homeland Security who should no longer hold her post.

Janet Napolitano, the former Arizona governor, had the audacity to call honored military veterans right wing extremists and potential domestic terrorists on the heels of a successful peaceful tax day protest. A government document, for which Napolitano offered a disingenuous apology, all but accused veterans of greater criminal activity than non-veterans and that conservative activists in general are the cause of national security problems. Additionally, this alleged intelligence assessment targeted conservatives in general, but more specifically any American opposing Obama’s social engineering, as well as those who oppose abortion, same sex marriage, and supporters of the Second Amendment. Additionally, Napolitano has called on local and state law enforcement to investigate such “miscreants.”

Napolitano has also said that strict border monitoring is not yet necessary. So it really should not be a surprise that she said “crossing the border illegally is not a crime.” Napolitano is referred to Section B, Title 1325 of the U.S. Code that states otherwise. As the former governor of a border state with Mexico, she of all people should be painfully aware of the trials and tribulations Arizonans, Californians, New Mexicans and Texans have endured. The Phoenix-metropolitan area is now the ranked as the worst and most likely place to be kidnapped in the United States, and Napolitano isn’t rankled by this horrifying piece of information?

Meanwhile, as Napolitano is ineffective as Homeland Security chief, she is now trying her hand as Secretary of Health and Human Services speaking out about the swine flu situation. Perhaps she can insult that away. She should not be holding either of those jobs.

Yet, sadly, the new HHS secretary is no more fit for that position than Napolitano. Former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, is a strong supporter of abortion rights to the point of siding with, and receiving, campaign contributions to the tune of thousands of dollars from late-term abortionist George Tiller, a.k.a. Tiller the Baby Killer. Her appointment will put a radical stamp on HHS.

Sebelius won Senate approval on Tuesday by a 65-31 margin with three senators not voting. Shame on the eight Republican senators who voted for Sebelius. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both Maine RINOs did not surprise anyone with their support of Sebelius. Neither did George Voinovich (OH), Judd Gregg (NH) or Richard Lugar (IN). However, yea votes from Kit Bond (MO) and both Kansas senators Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts were surprising and disappointing, especially from ardent pro-lifer Brownback who hopes to succeed Sebelius in Topeka. Had the eight Republicans stood together as the Democrats did, Sebelius could, and should, have been sent packing.

With continued administration insults and insensitivities toward more and more Americans, the GOP had better be in the trenches laying the groundwork for a strong offensive in 2010.

Unlike many issues , there is not a reasonable
“other side of the story” on this. It is a major no possible
excuse blunder. Who originated it? Who signed off
on it? Fire them now. (That doesn’t, of course, mean
pilots, etc.ordered to do it). People too tone deaf to plan
and approve this shouldn’t be in any decision making

Look. The mesmerized population, his blinded followers, do not care what
goes on with this administration and as long as they continue to drink the
kool-aid, we non-believers must try to get over it. There’s nothing we can
do. His ratings are through the roof, the media is slobbering over Barry
and his pissed off wife (who has become the “Darling” according to polls)
so what is it that I don’t get????
The only hope we have for recovery is that the vast left wingers and those
who have been welfare pampered their entire lives will, at some point,
put down the kool-aid and finally realize that their “Savior” will NOT be
filling their gas tanks, paying off their mortgages or utility bills. Sooner or
later, even they will begin to realize it ain’t gonna happen!

The teleprompter told Obama to do it. (I like when the teleprompter makes Obama look stupid)
Why do we need photos of Air Force One over the Statue of Liberty?
Seems to me a picture of Air Force One parked at AAFB would be sufficient for publicity.

The teleprompter is classic. When the thing goes out Obama completely gets lost. I am so surprised at this! After all, everyone was talking about what a great speaker he is, etc. etc. etc. In my book, a great speaker is someone who can think on their feet without notes, teleprompters, etc.

Now back on to the more important topic at hand…illegal immigration

“But we want the (enforcement) programs reviewed. People who have nothing on their record but a speeding ticket, honest people who are working, are getting deported.”

Hmmm……..let me think REALLY quickly (without a teleprompter)….if someone is getting deported that must mean that they are ILLEGAL. If they are ILLEGAL…that must mean they snuck into our country illegally, took up residence in our country illegally, most likely used forged documents/IDs, etc. to gain employment illegally, etc. etc. etc. To use words like “honest” is a huge contradiction. Must be the “new” education system that enables people to have such stellar critical thinking skills.

    I agree with this.

Until I read the post, I had no idea that Obama conceived and directed the idea of scaring the crap out of Manhattanites with the Air force One photo op. I just had assumed that some bureaucrat in the Air Force had put that together and had failed to think through what the optics would be for workers in lower Manhattan. Tell me again how Obama did this? I keep combing through the accounts and can’t find where this was an Oval Office decision. Obviously, the MSM is covering up for him.

NoVA Scout — I believe Luis Caldera, Director of the White House Military Office, was the first to admit that he had signed off on the NY/NJ flyover. The Military Office is part of the Executive Office of the President; so, yes, there is an Oval Office factor. Hard to figure why no one in the Military Office recognized or reconsidered the potential scare factor up in NY and NJ and had the sense to either nix it or least buck it up a little higher in the Oval Office. Also strange that Caldera would agree to throw $330,000 at a photo op at a time when Obama has been so active preaching cutbacks on spending in all Federal government departments. It’s one thing to get blindsided by a stupid decision made in one of the departments; but, when part of that blindside comes out of your own executive suite, you’ve got a communications problem somewhere within your outfit. Look to COS Rahm Emmanuel to try to fix this problem real quick.

I love it. Obama is in pursuit of those who approved waterboarding, and at the same time is faced with moving forward on a civil nuclear agreement with the UAE whose royal family member is seen brutally torturing a man in a newly released video tape. Come on Obama, make my day! Sounds like a no win situation to me, but then we are talking about a super teflon coated presidency.

Hmmm, maybe the new HHS thought exposure therapy would be best for New York city inhabitants. I mean come on, we have planes flying overhead all the time, right? And we’re ok. Next exposure therapy sessions will be exposing pro-lifers to abortions so we will “get used” to the idea.

Not to mention the gas wasted on the photo-op. A graphic artist could have rigged a half-decent image in PhotoShop without these problems.

I don’t disagree about the insensitivity but want to point out that FAA is advised because of airspace matters and the need to control air traffic. It was the White House that ordered the secrecy not FAA. FAA may have been the ones to notify the state and local officials but it wasn’t their idea to hold it back from the public. It was Luis Caldera, Director of the White House Military Office, that ordered the secrecy. Apparently it was because of a fear that some nut would try to shoot down the plane I guess. A simple announcement on the morning commute like, “in keeping with past practice, one of the planes sometimes used as Air Force One (there are many) will be flying over NY with a military escort at some time during the day.”

And then send the planes up immediately so no one can get ready.

Oh well, Swine flu will never kill as many Americans as the Invading horde of illegal Aliens do every year, plus add in the assaults, robbery, rapes etc Swine flu will never be anywhere near the scourge on American the invading horde of Illegal Aliens are that is encourage, assisted, and approved by most of our Corrupt/Pandering politicians for the Welfare votes & Slave Labor!

Note to “The Patriot” on the illegals:

“Family reunification” sounds like what the Nazis did when deporting the Jews back to Poland, and those ill-fated Jewish CITIZENS of Germany were not illegals.

However, in THIS case, the 14th Amendment, and I have said this for years, needs to be revamped. This is not what the Congress had in mind when passing such an amendment. Once the anchor baby nonsense is dropped, once jobs are made scarce, once free health care is no longer provided to illegals and they are barred from our public schools, they will lose the reasons for sneaking across the borders.

In this case, family reunification should take place, by sending the illegals back to their country of origin and if their family members wish to join them, it’s an investment worth making to ship them out as well.

Caldera La Raza and Indymac link:

Caldera was on the board of directors of Indymac, a California bank seized by the federal government …under investigation for fraud.

The Obama transition team left Caldera’s IndyMac service off the press release announcing his appointment.

Didn’t Chucky Schumer - the guy who was so quick to draw attention away from the White House by blaming the FAA - have something to do with IndyMac’s collapse?

“The FDIC has just announced that a consortium of private equity and hedge fund firms would be buying IndyMac. IndyMac was an independent “bridge bank” spun off of Countrywide Mortgage in the late 90s. IndyMac acted as a “bridge bank” to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

New York Democrat Charles Schumer precipitated the fall of IndyMac in May of 2008 by releasing “inside” information that the mortgage company was in dire financial straits. This disclosure created the initial “bank run” that is credited by many economists as the initial trigger that prompted the current mortgage crisis. The FDIC took over the operations of IndyMac in late summer of 2008.”

Even worse than the acknowledgement of the Administration’s insensitivity, could be the cover up of possibly illegal political activity involving an Obama promotional piece. How many people noticed that the fighter escorts had red tails — indicating that they were from the fighter squadron made famous by the black Tuskegee Airmen? What an iconic picture, Air Force One escorted by a black fighter squadron past the Statue of Liberty. Why is no one pressing the matter of where the red-tailed F-16 came from or produced footage from that photo shoot?

Obviously, that was the whole reason for the shoot (to have the red-tailed figher plane photographed escorting “Air Force One” although the 747 was a stand-in. Of course, the WH will spin it as a “right wing conspiresy.”

As someone else pointed out - they could have photoshopped it. The fact they spent so much money on it even makes it more pathetic. Talk about a really stupid thing to do - anyone involved in conceiving this silly stunt ought to be fired.
