Anonymous, they ousted a conservative Democrat (Stoffregen) and
replaced him with a liberal democrat (Hill) who claims to be a Republican.
Actually, he is a RINO. Why else would he have DEMANDED his deputies
vote for Obama? Uh, I forgot....Hill is black, but so is Obama! We are
seeing the very same thing right now, with this administration, aren't we?
It seems that Obama can do no wrong, even his drug use, anti-American
views, his associations with known terrorists (Ayers, etc.), not to mention
the birth certificate scandal (which has cost him 800,000. in lawyer fees
to keep all his records under lock and key)....all this, and why???? He's
black and Americans are still hunkering under the guilt for past transgressions.
Wait and watch. His replacement for Souter on the Supreme Court will
no doubt be black. Maybe even Al Sharpton?

NoVA Scout, the sad thing is we ousted a conservative democrat who worked and kept cost low and elected a liberal democrat who reduced the work but increased the cost over 50%.

If you know the whole story Connaughton and King Deane just made up a bunch of crap and feed it to the media because they knew the citizens of Prince William wouldn't know any different (they lied to them) and people to this day believe most of the propaganda they put out there.

The second problem I have with the way they ousted Stoffregen is I believe a police chief should "never" lie to the people and King Deane told things he knew were untrue.

But this is Prince William County, if you aren't in with the good ol' boys, your out.

That's why I like law and order Republicans like Connaughton, anon. The cop's son took a tough stand in favor of the Police and the citizens, went full tilt against a Sheriff who was trying to build an empire with public funds, and found a Republican candidate who put the lie to ignorant sterotypes of the GOP in the South. There was political risk in what he did, but he did it and was rewarded at the ballot box. Stoffregen tried to orchestrate a primary challenge and a general election challenge to Connaughton in order to protect his perks. Stoffregen ended up with ashes in his mouth. The voters see through this stuff.

NoVa Scout, You wrote a lot of words without saying a thing.

The Chairman of Prince William (Connaughton)and the Police Chief (King Deane) teamed up to get rid of a powerful Democrat (Stoffregen) and started a bunch of propaganda. We need to get a real Republican in the sheriff's office, not just a liberal Democrat looking for a paycheck like Glendell Hill.

Fran Kendrick: that a number of readers around here might agree with you says nothing about the validity of your views. It just says that a lot of people, particularly those who don't like to think hard or dig deeply, often prefer to hang out with people who think exactly as they do. I wouldn't take it as in any way reflecting on the merits of your views.

To go back to a point you made several comments up the thread - I don't think there will be a very good time in the coming 20 years to stop bashing Stoffregen. That was a toxic situation if I ever saw one, with a duplicate, off-book, police force actively trying to aggrandize itself at taxpayor expense, rampant cronyism linked to political back-scratching going on in the deputy business, all kinds of needless and goofy toy and gizmo purchases, lack of professionalism in the few duties that legitimately belonged in the Sheriff's bailiwick, and a Sheriff who openly challenged the BOCS Chairman who took him to task. Of course it ended up badly for PWC's Boss Hawg and the voters resoundingly sided with the Chairman and the Republican candidate to replace Stoffregen. But it shouldn't be forgotten how out of hand that situation was, and how important to good governance that it was to clean it up thorougly. The county was lucky to have good leadership that didn't get wobbly in the face of Stoffregen's threats. So I say, keep up the bashing for at least another 20 years, so people don't forget.

Just so not to miss the chance of agreeing a little bit with Johnson (I have agreed with him once before) and Both Parties (not sure I've ever agreed in that quarter), I give serious consideration every cycle to voting against every incumbent, particularly in the Virginia General Assembly. I wish they all ran at large so I could vote against more of them.

AWCheney, I just knew that sooner or later you would be putting in your
2 cents! Now, didn't you give me the what-for??? I certainly don't need
to have my credibility negated by you since there are lots of readers who
totally agree with me, regardless of your unsolicited diagnosis of my mental
condition. Takes one to know one?

Karla, Johnson, BPCAY, et al.:

“We currently don’t have a 2 party system. We have one party. The Republicrats. And this one party is out to get YOU!”

That statement begs the question: What are you going to do about it?

You must have received a blood transfustion of the wrong blood type. HASTA LA VISTA, BRO!

For the Patriot -

Do you think that a NO AMNESTY bumper sticker might illicit a similar response in Montgomery Co. Md. and other "closely related" communities around our Free Speech nation?

Maybe La Raza and related organizations could help law enforcement by assisting them with apprehending all those whose actions and speech could be deemed anti-illegal immigrant.

The following is a recent press release from National Council of La Raza...notice how they never say "American Communities". Isn't the budge supposed to be for "everyone" regardless of ethnicity? YOU DECIDE!

Contact:
Marie Watteau
(202) 785-1670

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 8, 2009

"NCLR CONCERNED THAT THE PRESIDENT'S BUDGET DOES NOT ADEQUATELY INVEST IN THE LATINO COMMUNITY

Washington, DC-NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, expressed deep concern over the President's fiscal year (FY) 2010 budget released by the White House yesterday.

"What we have seen so far with the budget is discouraging and suggests that some of the key priorities of the Latino community are not those of the administration. I am very surprised that the Obama administration in its first budget would mirror similar cuts made by the Bush administration," said Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO.

For example, the budget overwhelmingly maintains funding for Latino health-serving programs at the same levels as in the past administration. And even though the nation's unemployment rate has reached 11.4% for Latinos, many employment programs are also level-funded.

However, the FY 2010 budget does address some of the issues that concern many Latino families, such as worker protections, the housing crisis, health care reform, and immigrant integration. For example, it allocates $10 million toward the establishment of new immigrant integration programs geared toward citizenship, training, and coordination of federal resources for immigrant integration.

"We are encouraged by the U.S. Department of Labor's renewed commitment to protecting workers' rights by funding boosts for enforcement of laws related to wage and hour, occupational health and safety, and equal opportunity, but we are concerned with the level funding for workforce investment systems," said Murguía.

Furthermore, the budget includes a significant increase for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Housing Counseling Assistance Program, with a funding increase of more than 50%. The President's budget provides $37 million in new funding to combat mortgage fraud, predatory lending, and stepped-up enforcement of home purchase settlement requirements.

"The recent housing crisis has hit Latino families particularly hard, and the budget addresses some of the concerns that NCLR and other low-income community advocates have voiced over specific issues such as mortgage fraud and lack of financial services and housing counseling resources," added Murguía.

Although education has been identified as a significant policy initiative for this administration, the President's budget does not reflect investment in vital programs for Latino students.

"NCLR is deeply disappointed in the lack of investment in parents, family literacy, and English language learners. We are especially troubled that the Even Start program was eliminated-as it was in the Bush budgets-even though its fate was based on a flawed study," added Murguía. "It is unfortunate that the administration is unwilling or unable to provide a deeper analysis of the impact of this program on Latino families-who make up roughly half of all Even Start participants."

"We realize this is just a proposal and that Congress has the opportunity to deliver a budget that works for all Americans, and we will continue to work with the administration and Congress to achieve that," concluded Murguía.""

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 8, 2009

“NCLR CONCERNED THAT THE PRESIDENT’S BUDGET DOES NOT ADEQUATELY INVEST IN THE LATINO COMMUNITY

Washington, DC-NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, expressed deep concern over the President’s fiscal year (FY) 2010 budget released by the White House yesterday.

“What we have seen so far with the budget is discouraging and suggests that some of the key priorities of the Latino community are not those of the administration. I am very surprised that the Obama administration in its first budget would mirror similar cuts made by the Bush administration,” said Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO.

For example, the budget overwhelmingly maintains funding for Latino health-serving programs at the same levels as in the past administration. And even though the nation’s unemployment rate has reached 11.4% for Latinos, many employment programs are also level-funded.

“We are encouraged by the U.S. Department of Labor’s renewed commitment to protecting workers’ rights by funding boosts for enforcement of laws related to wage and hour, occupational health and safety, and equal opportunity, but we are concerned with the level funding for workforce investment systems,” said Murguía.

Furthermore, the budget includes a significant increase for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Counseling Assistance Program, with a funding increase of more than 50%. The President’s budget provides $37 million in new funding to combat mortgage fraud, predatory lending, and stepped-up enforcement of home purchase settlement requirements.

“The recent housing crisis has hit Latino families particularly hard, and the budget addresses some of the concerns that NCLR and other low-income community advocates have voiced over specific issues such as mortgage fraud and lack of financial services and housing counseling resources,” added Murguía.

Although education has been identified as a significant policy initiative for this administration, the President’s budget does not reflect investment in vital programs for Latino students.

“NCLR is deeply disappointed in the lack of investment in parents, family literacy, and English language learners. We are especially troubled that the Even Start program was eliminated-as it was in the Bush budgets-even though its fate was based on a flawed study,” added Murguía. “It is unfortunate that the administration is unwilling or unable to provide a deeper analysis of the impact of this program on Latino families-who make up roughly half of all Even Start participants.”

“We realize this is just a proposal and that Congress has the opportunity to deliver a budget that works for all Americans, and we will continue to work with the administration and Congress to achieve that,” concluded Murguía.”"

FRIENDLY REMINDER...
No Amnesty (aka Pathway to Citizenship) for illegal aliens...EVER! Keep up the emails and phone calls! Watch out for new terms that may be used which really mean amnesty or pathway to citizenship. The politicians want us to think that they are taking care of business and enforcing the law...next thing...they will sneak in some sort of amnesty. Groups like NCLR will not sit on the sidelines....therefore...neither shall we. We are on the right side of the argument. So lets get busy!

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/08/obama-enforcement-first-for-immigration/

How long will enforcement last?

They will hype enforcement until they pass and implement the new CIR law which will give all the illegals citizenship. When that happens, FORGET ABOUT ENFORCEMENT and prepare for another cycle of illegal immigration followed by another cycle and call for comprehensive immigration reform ............

What I Know, you should change your name to "What I think I know".
What's with all this fawning over Hill? Is this an attempt to get on staff
so you can become a part of the gravy train? Let me remind you, there
are certain qualifications, in case you "don't know". Do you have a 48 inch
waist? How about your penchant for dirty, unpressed clothing? I'll bet
he would hire you in a heart beat!

One of the problems is that each party wants you to vote the party line - does not matter if you like the candidate or not, if the person is blessed by the party, then you are expected to vote for them.

I do not agree with this philosophy - I vote my conscience - I vote for who I think will better represent me and my community - although many times one is not given a good choice, so lesser of two evils is picked.
