Mark Warner Slaps Manassas In The Face

By Greg L | 21 May 2009 | Manassas City, US Senate | 10 Comments

Manassas City residents will be really pleased to learn that Senator Mark Warner has asked for $100,000 in taxpayer money to be given to H.O.M.E of Richmond, the outfit that litigated against Manassas City resulting in a settlement that severely challenged the city’s budget during difficult economic times.  While Senator Warner lavishes your taxpayer dollars upon these organizations, they use those funds to promote ridiculous lawsuits against municipalities in Virginia that have to be defended with, of course, more of your taxpayer dollars.  How nice.

Instead of doing something, anything, to reign in these irresponsible organizations that seek to blackmail municipalities into providing them with financial support, Senator Warner actively seeks to subsidize them.  Those who have suffered from this sort of abuse should be furious with Warner, who once again shows that the Warner we get as an elected official is a lot different than the Warner we saw on the campaign trail, touting how “moderate” he was.

Mr. L., your assesment that the settlement severely challenged the City’s bidget is not exactly correct. The settlement was paid by the City’s insurance. Now, I will say the number thrown around to retain their special attorney in Richmond was 1 million of your tax dollars. I do agree this group does not deserve one penny of our tax dollars.

What else would expect of a democrat who claims to be a moderate? Can you only imagine if he were a “real” liberal? Not to worry, Schumer, one of the great orators in his own mind, has the answer - it is time to legalize the illegals. I am sure Warner is “lock step” with McCain and Schumer.

I wonder if Arnold has any other brilliant ideas the republicans can use to save the state with the most illegals? Oh yeah, higher fuel standards and get bashed as asking the people for more tax dollars to waste. Another republican lost in space. Now Warner wants to throw a simple 100 grand around to such a worthy cause - may be its called “get out the vote”.

Let’s see, Warner’s 100K, ACORN and the ACLU, CASA, and the rest of the illegal lovers, will only add a few more mil to the deficit (stop the crying - they have trillions to spend). Obama has effectively tripled the debt and over doubled the Bush deficit, as he admits. Now he promises to “reduce the deficit to one half” at the end of his term. I ask you, how does one feel about bashing Bush over spending (and he did), complain of the “over-spending” (drunken sailor is close), tripling the budget (there goes - Mr. Present - Obama), at least doubling the deficit (wow, and I thought we were in trouble with Bush)and then making me feel better, after 4 years, to only bring the deficit back to the day he took office? - if we are lucky. Wow, now that is change you can believe in. Yes “we” can.

Warner helps by heaping gas on the fire; Taxpayer money, “well” spent by republicans and democrats alike but this president has spent like no other before or since. Warner must be warming up for a door prize. Gosh, I’m so proud of him.

Here is a response I received from Mark Warner when I sent him a very clear message on NO AMNESTY OR PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS (PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE SECOND TO LAST PARAGRAPH - IT ALL APPEARS GOOD UNTIL THAT PORTION):

“Thank you for contacting me. I share your concerns about the need for our nation to develop a comprehensive immigration policy, one that is tough on border security, effective, and fair to taxpayers.

Any solution should not penalize those individuals who have followed the law and are here legally. We must enforce our existing immigration laws and increase border security to prevent more undocumented people from entering the country illegally.

In addition, any business owner who knowingly hires undocumented workers should be held accountable. Finally, I believe undocumented individuals should not gain an unfair advantage from their actions. Any effort to earn legal status must include paying back taxes, a fine or penalty, and taking steps to learn English.

Again, thank you for writing. As we move forward in the 111th Congress, please continue to contact me with your opinions and concerns.

    Sincerely,
    MARK R. WARNER
    United States Senator”

It all comes back to the same old rhetoric “pay back taxes, a fine or penalty and learn English.” Tell me how they figure what “their back taxes are when they have been paid under the counter. Fines or penalties will never be collected (maybe they will be given a payment plan of say, over thirty years?) Learning English? There are illegals in this country who have been here for many years and can’t speak a word of English. “Comprehensive immigration reform” is nothing but AMNESTY. The last two Senate immigration bills that were defeated were the same and that is WHY they were defeated. What will convince the American public that a new “Comprehensive immigration bill” will be any different?

Warner appears to be gathering support for his “future” political endeavors.
I’m sure the Hispanic groups will be falling all over him because of his support for illegals.

It’s time to recognize that most of our political leaders are dead set against implementing the will of the majority of their constituents with respect to illegal immigration. Instead, they are set on a path of rewarding those illegals who are here with citizenship, and encouraging more to come. In short, they’ve declared war against us, their tax-paying constituents, and have chosen to turn this country over to an invading force.

Once you recognize that fact, the sequitur is obvious.

warner is also on record as saying watch out for homeschoolers, pro-lifers, nra members, and conservative christians, so much for open mindness on the part of democrats, as dull as gilmore was I would stand in line to vote for him over warner again and again . . .

We need to let Warner and Webb know that “buying” citizenship is NOT an option. People must EARN citizenship. One Language (English), One U.S. Flag, One Melting Pot, and Loyalty ONLY to the U.S. - Period. Anything else is unacceptable!

The Manassas Journal Messinger had an article in today’s edition about a fund raiser held in Arlington with the showing of that “great, non-partisian” video now turned into a “movie” 9500 Liberty. Attending the premier was none other than police chief Charlie Deane and Woodbridge supervisor Princippi (who would have guessed.) Apparently the were surrounded by well wishers (read illegal alien appologists) who fought to shake their hands and wanted to be seen with “two upcoming movie stars.” It cost $25.00 to attend this grand show. Hope the PWC taxpayers didn’t foot the bill for Deane and Pricippi’s tickets.
