When this person was promoted, even Charlie Deane remarked he thought it would be a “cold day in hell” before being witness to him reaching the rank which allowed him to become a Watch Commander. He isn’t the only Association President to be promoted to Internal Affairs. If you’re on the promotion list and serving as the Association President……playing along at the expense of the rank and file has had it’s advantages in the past.

It’s appears to be just one of several power plays that has given the Chief of Police complete control over the kingdom.

I could probably drive past the Sheriff himself all day long since the road deputies handed in their ticket books when Deane became the silent Sheriff in 2003.

I also noitced that Deane’s loyal following still hasn’t addressed his treatment of previously mentioned officers or the law suit he lost against one of his own.

Just admit it, it’s time for him to head to Shady Acres Home for the Aged. Heck, he’s half way there already,you would think that since he has moved retirement community the next logical step is to spend his days tending to his vegetable garden. Prince William County budget office 2004 - 2010 sheriff’s office budgets. Sheriff Hill has not lost any positions since he was elected only gained positions and he has never cut the budget. It’s just not as fat as what he requested. Where the hell are you getting your figures?

For someone who boosts of such intimate knowledge as to the inter-workings of Prince William County, you should already know the answers…

1-What is the retention rate of the officers?

Poor I suspect - like most area departments

2-How many that start the academy leave not because of failure but choice

Few I suspect - if they finish the academy, their resume is complete for one of those nice federal jobs

3-Why is PWC the only jurisdiction in the area that has to pay officers bonuses to stay on?

There are not. A report from COG published last year indicated that the bonus trend was the next new tging in the region to retain people. AS a matter of fact, the Fire.Rescue department also pays bounus.

4-Why is PWC the only jurisdiction that seems to constantly advertise and attend every job fair in the surround area? Is it because the contty continues to increase their budget to add officers or because they can’t keep enough around to fill the streets properly?

Both. And everyother jurisdiction attends the same job fairs.

5-Does a Sheriff’s dept. that writes a lot of tickets make them crooked or did they write them because they actually were about to find probably cause to write them?

If it were their primary job, they would probably write more. I suggest you test your theory by speeding past the next deputy car you see several times just to prove your point.

6-If the Dupties write less tickets under Hill does that mean there are less offenses out there being committed or that they are told not to write them and let the offense go unnoticed and hope a county cop seems them

Don’t really know what they are told to do, and I doubt you do either,but I would suspect they have enough sheriff work to keep them busy.

Fact: Deputies make arrests and write tickets. (nothing compared to when crooked Lee S. was in office but no one wants that anyway.)

No one wants that anway? Give us a break! If there is probable cause to make an arrest or write a traffic citation for a violation I would hope that be it a county police officer or a sheriff’s deputy that the law would be enforced by the officer who saw the viloation or crime being comitted. It’s just like immigration enforcement. “It a Federal” problem so since I am a State or County law enforcement official, I will ignore it if I come across an illegal alien.” Crime is crime. Bank robbery is a Federal crime. Do the local police agencies ignore that crime? Why should they ignore arresting someone who has entered this country illegally and don’t know what his/her intentions are?

FACT: Sheriff Joe Arpaio gets the job done, Chief Deane does not.
FACT: Chief Deane needs instruction from Sheriff Joe on how to get the job done correctly and legally without worrying about what aiding and abetting protestors say.

That will only happen if the Chief is sincere about getting the job done (it doesn’t appear to be so, thus far.)
