"Also noticed
they slashed Building and Code Enforcement by over
58% - most other communities, also under fiscal stress,
have still focused attention in that area, especially with
the numerous foreclosures and vacant properties."

Just amazing, but nothing that bunch at 1 Park Center does surprises me anymore.

I watched a Bob Mcdonnel commercial on TV earlier this evening and was struck by the fact that he didn't identify his party. No mention, no credits, nothing! Is that a strategy... hope voters don't notice which party he belongs to?

All things considered, I'm guessing he might be right not to "advertise" he's a Republican in today's climate.

Mr. Leeper-
Did finally locate some MP information on
the web and apparently the FY 2010 real estate tax
will be $1.65 (the highest in Virginia). Also noticed
they slashed Building and Code Enforcement by over
58% - most other communities, also under fiscal stress,
have still focused attention in that area, especially with
the numerous foreclosures and vacant properties.
Interesting.

Off course here. but I do want to get word in about the front page blast
on today's MJM regarding highest paid employees in the county. To see
King Fish Charlie's photo, and his salary posted (152,013) surely set my
blood to a rolling boil! And Gerhart's salary at 220,000. is downright
disgusting, imo. What is wrong with this picture????

Friday Funny!

The Blue Pigeon

The mayor of Phoenix was very worried about a plague of pigeons in Phoenix.

He could not remove the pigeons from the city. All of Phoenix was full of pigeon poop, the people of Phoenix could not walk on the sidewalks, or drive on the roads.

It was costing a fortune to keep the streets and sidewalks clean.

One day a man came to City Hall and offered the Mayor a proposition.

'I can rid your beautiful city of its plague of pigeons without any cost to the city. But, you must promise not to ask me any questions. Or, you can pay me one million dollars to ask one question.'

The mayor considered the offer briefly and accepted the free proposition.

The next day the man climbed to the top of City Hall, opened his coat, and released a blue pigeon. The blue pigeon circled in the air and flew up into the bright blue Arizona sky.

All the pigeons in Phoenix saw the blue pigeon and gathered up in the air behind the blue pigeon. The Phoenix pigeons followed the blue pigeon as she flew southward out of the city.

The next day the blue pigeon returned completely alone to the man atop City Hall.

The Mayor was very impressed. He felt the man and the blue pigeon had performed a wonderful miraculous feat to rid Phoenix of the plague of pigeons. Even though the man with the pigeon had charged nothing, the mayor presented him with a check for 1 million dollars and told the man that, indeed, he did have a question to ask and even though they had agreed
to no fee and the man had rid the city of pigeons, he decided to pay the 1 million just to get to ask ONE question.

The man accepted the money and told the mayor to ask his ONE question.

Do you think the Mayor is going to ask how the blue pigeon led all the pigeons away?

Do you think the Mayor is going to ask where all the pigeons went?

Do you think he is going to ask where the man got the blue pigeon?

Nooooooo!

This will get a smile out of you!

The mayor asked:

'Do you have a blue Mexican?'

“SOTOMAYOR AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED: CANNOT FULFILL HER OATH OF OFFICE”

Great article. Oh…and isn’t Sotomayor a member of National Council of La Raza? That sort of shows that the controversial statements she has made may truly impact her decision-making if she were to be confirmed.

Por La Raza, TODO! Por los otros, NADA. Their foot is now in the door!

Sort of a lightweight on the illegal alien situation per that site. Nothing about him getting the State police involved, nothing on e-verify or keeping illegals from getting state benefits. Need a stronger voice against illegal aliens for my vote.

You can bet Pr. Wm. will be way up in the balcony seats. Almost to the ceiling.

We never seem to make it lower down.Thats how much pull we have.

Stanley would be better than the hand-picked one.

Better make sure the other candidates will serve the people and back the Laws of this Country and State, by removing all the ILLEGALS.

We are in for a real mess if something is not done soon.

They are imposing their ways of doing things here and it is not right.

"I’m starting to think this statistic is the result of GIGO…garbage in, garbage out."

To elaborate: Garbage (incorrect) data produces garbage (incorrect) results/statistics, which goes on to produce garbage (incorrect) conclusions.

The term was originated to make the point that feeding incorrect data into a computer will make it give you incorrect data back.

It also applies to the decision-making process of organizations, most notably government.

I believe that statistic is off by an order of magnitude.

http://www.bestplaces.net/city/Manassas_Park-Virginia.aspx

states:

"13.28% of the people in Manassas Park, VA are religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion. 0.00% are Catholic; 1.09% are Protestant; 3.87% are LDS; 0.55% are another Christian faith; 0.00% in Manassas Park, VA are Jewish; 0.00% are an eastern faith; 7.77% affilite with Islam."

Interestingly enough, if you take 13.28 and multiply it by 59%, you get 7.852 which is remarkably close to 7.77%.

So, according to this data, roughly 59% of those who "affiliate with a religion" in Manassas Park (according to this source, that's only 13.28% of the population) affiliate with Islam.

The same site claims that 97% of neighboring Manassas affiliates with a religion.

http://www.bestplaces.net/city/Manassas-Virginia.aspx#

I'm starting to think this statistic is the result of GIGO...garbage in, garbage out. That's especially likely given that it was, until recently very difficult to identify what adresses are actually in Manassas Park. Now the Post Office auto-corrects Manassas Park addresses to be Manassas Park, VA 20111 when they used to auto-correct them to be Manassas, VA 20111.

However, I will check the reference cited for that statistic, although if they don't cite a source for that statistic I may not be able to track it down and verify it's veracity.

'May want to Google Manassas Park’s Wikipedia
page. Under demographics, it reads “Roughly 59%
of the city, as of 2008, are adherents to Islam, the
highest rate in the United States”. '

That's cited as

I'll have to go and verify that. I'm not sure that a "concise" atlas of the world would have such details about a city the size of Manassas Park.

Just got back a little while ago from setting up the video mini-studio on the convention floor, and boy, was the place hopping, and it is HUGE! Lower deck has Alexandria and Arlington, Loudoun is on the second level behind the media and mini-studio, and so far I haven't been able to figure out where Prince William will be seated. Most likely, the seats won't be the best.

I am setting up to do some video recordings for bloggers and a couple of live productions during the convention, as well as producing the ustream video feed from the convention on the "RPVConvention09" channel at http://ustream.tv/rpvconvention09 . Keep an eye out here and on Bearing Drift for details on where and when that will be available. We hope to start broadcasting when the convention opens on Friday, so if you're only attending on Saturday, this will be a chance to tune in and see what's happening before you arrive.

This convention is going to be utterly enormous. There were armies of folks crawling all over today putting up festoons of signs, rigging lighting and video displays, and doing all sorts of prep work. It was pretty darned inspiring to see it come together with so many people involved.

Get ready for the biggest Republican event in Virginia in decades!

I think Pat would be a good Chairman (have known him since he was Fairfax County Chairman), but because of the way Frederick was removed, I have to support Stanley with my vote.

Bolling and Cuccinelli, of course.

McDonnell(of course), Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli here. As much as I respect those who support Mr. Brownlee, he's too much of a status quo, old school style SWVA GOP politician. (If a Kilgore supports you, something must be wrong with you.)There are only two candidates for AG that have a record to run on, and only one of those in a state elected office, that man is Ken Cuccinelli.

As to the Chairmanship, I've thought long and hard about it and have decided that I support Bill Stanley. Both candidates are far from perfect as both have ties to the brouhaha earlier in the year. However, my conscience and my instinct tell me that Stanley will be better for the grassroots.

Mr. Leeper, once again, thank you for Manassas
Park information - for a city of well over 10,000 citizens
it really flies under the radar when it comes to local
government data. Numerous articles
and blog postings about tax rates in PWC and Manassas
this spring - almost nothing about MP.
May want to Google Manassas Park's Wikipedia
page. Under demographics, it reads "Roughly 59%
of the city, as of 2008, are adherents to Islam, the
highest rate in the United States". And I thought
illegal Hispanics were the big challenge.
