Brian Moran Endorsed By OpenCarry.org

OpenCarry.org, one of the more respected gun rights organizations in my book issued an endorsement in the upcoming Democratic primary for Brian Moran. I’m not quite sure what to think about this, but I find the critique of Creigh Deeds’ record on Second Amendment issues fascinating. So without further ado, here’s the endorsement issued by OpenCarry.org:

Republicans, Libertarians & Independents Called on to Decide Democratic Primary Choice for Governor
Virginia is an open primary state, so any registered voter can vote on June 9th in the Democratic Primary because the other parties held conventions this year – including the Republicans.
That’s right, with a 3 way race split down the middle, it will only take few thousand non-Democrats to decide which of the Democratic party candidates will face Bob McDonnell in the Fall election for Governor.
Here’s why all Virginians, regardless of party, should vote for Brian Moran: First, he paid his dues, living, working, and serving in Virginia. Second, and frankly, Moran has some pretty good pro-gun votes on his record, including voting FOR HB535 in 2005 to legalize carrying concealed handguns in school parking lots, as well as FOR HB 530 in 2004 to preempt all local gun control laws, even those in his home city of Alexandria. And third, Moran is NOT former Democratic National Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe, a man who is backed heavily by out of state money and interests and probably does not even know where the General Assembly Building is in Richmond!
If McAuliffe is elected, he will implement out of state agendas inside the Old Dominion.
But why not vote for Creigh Deeds, of Bath County?
For 2 reasons: (1) Deeds is less likely to catch McAuliffe than Moran; and (2) voters need to send a message to Virginia politicians like Deeds (who recently began supporting a ban on private gun sales at gun shows) that caving in on gun rights principles to run for state office will not be tolerated! We cannot afford to allow the Washington Post’s new poster boy for gun control to be elected as Virginia’s next Governor.
It’s time to crash the party on June 9th and vote for Brian Moran to ensure that the election in the Fall for Virginia’s Governor is between Virginians!

I’ll bet that Moran, having run so far left in this race that he now finds himself in a political ditch, must also find this endorsement, well strangely helpful. At this point I’d bet he would be thrilled to get any GOP crossover.
But as a Republican, I could not more vote for any of these guys than vote, well, for Barak Hussein Obama or as I like to call him “O-bah-bah”.
I hope that Republicans will NOT fall for the cross over bait. We need to focus our activity on our team and frankly, if Terry “McAwful” (as some on other blogs like to call him) wins, I predict that you will see “Democrats for McDonnell” actually happen. Really.

Cross party candidate comparisons are notoriously hard to make when one party is engaged in a multi-candidate primary - the polls go haywire as many people answering the poll exhibit “survey bias” and refuse to support the other candidates against their pututive opponent in the fall election as such a response “ehlps” their candidate.
So folks have potentially 2 chances to vote against mcAuliffe - June 9, and maybe next fall. Lets everybody rise to the occasion and vote againt McAuliffe on June 9th -

They have simply endorsed the weakest candidate against McDonnell.
As a life-long Conservative Republican, and someone who takes elections VERY seriously, I personally have a problem with encouraging Republicans to vote in Democratic Primaries. Any Republican who does this CAN NOT say a thing when the Democrats come in to our Primaries and vote for the weakest link.
Be true to your Party, be true to your convictions. This is not a game, people, this is an election that will affect people’s lives and livelihood. Ok, the guy is endorsed by OpenCarry, but what about his stance on taxes, health care, illegals??? To support a candidate based solely on one issue is, well, inviting the govt we have today.

Typical Republican pap. Like calling him McAwful. I am amazed none of you budding Shakespeare’s could come up with Dirty Deeds (done dirt cheap).
All the RPV favorites are native born Virginians - right? Like George Allen. Born in California. Began college at UCLA then moved to VA when his Dad got job coaching the Washington Redskins. Bill Bolling. Born in West Virginia. Ken Cuccinelli. Born in New Jersey.
And Virginia would never vote for a carpetbagger - right? Like some guy who was born in Minnesota, went to high school in Kansas City, then college at Missouri, then law school in Mass, then moved to VA at age 25? That would never happen. Oh yeah - that’s Tim Kaine.
I have lived here all my life. This carpetbagger nonsense has to stop. It makes people from Virginia look stupid when they call a man who has lived in the state for 17 years a carpetbagger.
John Light is right. It’s time to get back to the issues. Like when Bob McDowner really stands on transportation. Sorry - I just couldn’t resist this one time.

Let’s start with Terry McAuliffe. As an avid believer in gun control, a McAuliffe governorship would be a “nuclear winter” for gun rights in Virginia, making Governor Time Kaine appear centrist and rational in comparison. In a blogger conference call in January, McAuliffe promised that if elected, he would revise or eliminate the Dillon Rule which prevents local authorities from imposing a patchwork of local controls making the lawful exercise of a citizens rights impossible as one travels across the Commonwealth. I could continue and write an entire article about McAuliffe’s gun control plans but it is sufficient to say that he is the worst case scenario of all candidates in any party and leave it at that.
The next candidate is Senator Creigh Deeds. Deeds, who was supported by gun owners in his previous candidacy, is the Judas Iscarot of this race. Having achieved his current position on the backs of gun owners, he has suddenly turned hard left in his quest for the support of the gun-control wing of his party and abandoned gun owners who once looked to his future as synonymous with that of former Governor Mark Warner whose consistently pro-gun positions allowed him to easily move from the Governor’s mansion to the U.S. Senate.

The “Virginia-born” stuff is from the opencarry.org press release. You see, in this day and age someone can post something written by another party onto their website. That doesn’t make it their words, particularly when they preface the press release with statements like “I’m not quite sure what to think of this …”
I do agree with you that crap like that is stupid, but everybody does it when it’s to their advantage.
