Dem Primary Open Thread

By Greg L | 9 June 2009 | DPVA, Virginia Politics | 13 Comments

Virginia Democrats chose Creigh Deeds as their nominee for Governor as a result of strong support in Northern Virginia, proving that the vote of the Washington Post editorial board is perhaps the most important one in Democratic Party Primaries.  I’m glad to see McAuliffe sent packing, showing Democrats are capable of making at least some decent decisions, although Wagner and Shannon getting picked are strong rebuttal points.

Then why are economic indicators finally showing positive growth in the last quarter since this new administrations inception?. When is the last time anyone can remember positive numbers on wallstreet? Don’t be bitter about it, just hope more Democrats get elected to save this country from backward republican partisan rantings.

It is way past time to elect Politicians that have the best interest of American citizens & the future of this Nation. Most politicians have only self interest and in fact support the invasion of Criminals and uneducated peons from Mexico and South American over American citizens!

Our government fails the most basic and primary task & duty of government, to protect this Nation and its Citizens from invasion and enforce its laws.

They refuse to abide by our Constitution, refuse to enforce our Immigration Laws and refuse to honor their Oath of Office!

Our Government, past & present, Republican & Democrat, have allowed the invasion of 20 to 30 million criminals and uneducated peons which is the largest invasion of any Nation, at any time, by any means & in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution.

This refusal to abide by our Constitution or enforce our Immigration Laws should be classified as Treason of the most foul kind, & as grounds for impeachment & trials for Treason!

Not only have they allowed the invasion, they force American tax payers to pay Billions on Billions of dollars to provide Welfare, Prison cells, Educate the invaders numerous children, and free medical care, at the same time the invading horde break numerous laws and massive document fraud, & are destroying our schools, hospitals, communities, culture and standard of living while Robbing, Raping, Killing & Assaulting American Citizens at an rate the terrorist can only dream about.

Recent statements in Mexico from both President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary something needs to be done. “Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police officers, soldiers, and civilians,” she said.

But no mention, concern or care that their refusal to stop the Massive Invasion of Illegal Aliens pouring across our borders or enforce our immigration laws that causes an estimated 25 Americans deaths per day and 10,s of thousands victims of Assault, Robberies, Rapes, Identify thief, and other assorted crimes committed by the invading horde of Illegal Aliens from Mexico on American citizens each year!

It is a telling indictment & shows their Empathy & Compassion of our Politicians & their priorities when they express 100,s of time more concern over three Terrorist being water broader than the havoc & crimes of Illegal Aliens against American Citizens!

Most of our Politicians in Wash. DC are wading knee deep in innocent American blood and suffering because they put Self Interest ahead of the interest of American Citizens & the future of this Nation!

The Welfare vote for the Democrats to further their Socialist Agenda and the Slave Labor for their Pay Masters in the Chamber of Commerce & Business for the Republicans is more important to our Corrupt power mad Politicians than the lives and safety of Americans citizens!

The Citizens of this Nation have not sacrificed with blood, sweat & tears for over 200 years & obeyed the Laws of the land, paid the taxes, and fought the wars & built this Nation to see Corrupt politicians turn this Nation into the United States of Mexico without a shot being fired, to serve their demented, nefarious goals and lust for power!

McAuliffe seemed to understand that illegal immigration was a problem, so I’m sad that he didn’t win. Apparently, as in the Presidential election, we have two candidates in the bag on illegal immigration, no chance to have a governor who isn’t going to encourage illegal immigration. My vote is going to either Howard the Duck or Baba Booey.

Local Media - good one, you really crack me up. Democrats are good for the economy like illegals are good for national security.

Congrats to Mr. Deeds. Nice to FINALLY see 2 Virginians vying for the office (for a change)!!!

Creigh Deeds is a big supporter of illegal aliens. Goat Head and crew will love him.

Now is DEFINITELY the time to roll up our sleeves, door knock, make phone calls, and hold fund raisers to get the Mansion back in to Republican hands. I have known Bob for a number of years now and there is no more honorable man on the ticket than he. I look forward to doing my part for Bob and wish him the best of luck.

The victory by Sen. Deeds is a clear repudiation against the liberal-extremist branch of the VA-Dem Party. It wasn’t even close. If this had been a boxing match it would have halted after the first round. Bowed and bloodied, McAuliffe learned he could not buy himself the nomination after attempting to pull a Hillary Clinton. Virginia is not New York state - not even in Northern Virginia. As for Brian Moran, pummeled even in his own Congressional District, he learned the hard way that he should never have given up his House of Delegates seat. The next step is to send his smug brother Jim packing and elect a member of Congress who will return honor and dignity to the district. For more on Moran, visit the Alexandria Times at www.alextimes.com and download the June 4-10 issue for my column. It’s high time to elect a Representative who is in touch with the people.

“The victory by Sen. Deeds is a clear repudiation against the liberal-extremist branch of the VA-Dem Party.” Blah, blah, blah…

    Sandy -

You’re missing the real message being sent to the RPV: It’s all about keeping a (D) beside the name of our governor. We know that neither McAuliffe nor Moran had a snowball’s chance in hell of beating McDonnell. With Deeds, we have a better-than-even chance of a third straight term of Democratic governorship. The Commonwealth has turned bluer over the past 4 years and Deeds has the momentum of wins by Webb, Kaine, Warner, and Connelly at his back. Good luck in November, you’re going to need it.

Repudiation of the liberal-extremist branch of the VA-Dem Party? I don’t think so.

How do you explain this from the WashPo on 2/1/09?

Deeds, who contends that he will not be outflanked as “the most progressive candidate in this race”

That’s right. Deeds wouldn’t even let McAuliffe or Moran get to his left.

I’m just glad that McAuliffe, who tried to run in like six or seven other states, didn’t win the primary. This is a man who just wanted to be governor SOMEwhere, not the governor of a state he loves.

Now, as John Light said, we need to roll up our sleeves to help get Bob McDonnell elected. It will be a tough fight against Deeds.

Why was Shannon such a bad choice? Who should they have chosen? My concern is that he will be a strong candidate.
