Big Dog and Chuck,

Thanks for the info and the update on the Dominguez case. It's sad that our local newspaper can't give us this information. I wonder if the internal investigation has already been concluded and if they found nothing wrong that they didn't announce it, if they found something wrong I'm sure that we'd all know about it, the WaPo wouldn't let this go without another sob story for the poor immigrant.

Dominguez has a court date 7/16. it's been continued a couple times:

obstructing justice, driving without a license and defective equipment

she has an attorney: stuart sears

Dave in PWC,
I've also asked our local paper to investigate and simply
tell us what happened with the Aqueda Dominquez case. Was it
dropped, settled out of court or what? I've often been critical of
this blog and others, liberal and conservative, of Palovian responses
to events before the facts are known. But someone
has to be the "honest broker" and provide us with that
information. By default, that is the MJM, short staffed and decrepit
as it has become. ( Ideally the MPPD would have investigated,
if a formal charge was made, and reported the results to the
community but that isn't how Manassas Park operates apparently).
This became a high profile public issue when Ms. Dominquez
took it to the media and then helped organize a protest
march of hundreds (signs, banners, and some "suffering with
the victim" by going barefoot with max publicity - TV, DC papers, etc.)
The procession went from MP, through Manassas City (with a
a taxpayer paid MCPD escort) to the PWC Courthouse for a
candlelight vigil.
And now, after more than four months, nothing.
What is the rest of this story?

I wonder if that was a pretext stop and if so what the officer suspected.

If Urkel "decides" to release them, wouldn't that mean that they're, you know, innocent? In case you hadn't noticed, that's the way the Justice System works. Someone gets accused of something, they get chucked in jail, and the courts sort out whether or not they get released.

Note: Just because someone is ensconced in GITMO doesn't necessarily mean they're guilty of anything. If you'll recall, the US made the astoundingly stupid decision to say to people in a country where hundreds of years old blood feuds (over who stole whose goat) are not uncommon, "Hey, guys, feel free to turn in any terrorists to us." And then, some primitive screwhead whose next door neighbor's great-great-granddaddy once swiped a bag of dates goes, "Uh, yeah, Abdul there is totally a terrorist. He hates America and stuff," and off Abdul goes to GITMO.

So again, I fail to see why this should concern me. But then, I actually bother to read lots of news sources rather than just drooling in front of Fox "News".

My own “news roundup” - Does anyone know what ever happened
with Aqueda Dominquez and her claim that a Manassas Park
police officer beat her because she was Hispanic? There was
a rush of publicity including a big march from MP to the PWC
Courthouse to “demand justice” and then nothing. Zip -
for the past four months. Que pasa por favor?

There was also a State police investigation that took place. Someone ought to find out what the true story behind the story is. Is the "victim" still in the country or MP? It's the same non-story as the State police officer who was accused of throwing an illegal, drunk teenager off of a bridge on I-95 a couple of years ago. Kid was handcuffed and in back to trooper's car, got out of the car and jumped to his death. Big uproar saying police officer threw him off the bridge. Story ended there with nary a follow-up as to what an investigation found. Too many of these type stories are hyped by the press, TV and radio. They make a lot of noise, make allegations and then the story is never heard again. Anyone out there know "the rest of the story" on these situations?

BORC, that is until Urkel decides we can't hold them any longer and decides to release them. That's already come up, in case all your news is coming from the DailyKos, and that little tidbit slipped past you.

Big Dog, there's been not a peep on that story. The only action that was underway was an internal MPPD investigation about the incident, and surprisingly we haven't heard anything about that investigation. Dominquez never filed even an official complaint about the issue.

You do realize, don't you, that if the accused terrorists are brought to Virginia, they're going to be in jail, right? They're people; not warlocks. They're not going to just magic themselves out of their jail cells and go raping our cattle and stampeding our women.

Looks like some of you guys have figured the whole thing out. It's obviously an Obama/Hollywood conspiracy to develop a concept and promote a sequel to ConAir. We all know that the Dems are held under the power of Coppola, and Uncle Francis has probably noticed that Nicolas Cage hasn't had a good movie since!

''...But even that scenario touches on another weird concern voiced by Obama's critics -- that relocated Guantánamo detainees might secretly attempt to recruit American inmates to the jihadist cause.
Think about this. Some of the worst bad-asses on the planet now reside in the U.S. prison system. Their geopolitical views have never been of widespread interest or concern, because most of these characters are either sitting on Death Row, or serving multiple life sentences with no chance of parole.
The best place to put a hardcore al Qaeda guy is in a cell next to, say, a gang banger who's doing 250 years. If by chance the gang banger falls under the hypnotic spell of his new pal and decides he wants to convert, let him!"

Pat Herve said, "...and brought to Gitmo without committing a crime ... but then we should bring them to trail (sic) and charge them with offenses - we have thrown Habeas Corpus out the window."

Nope, that's just the point -- these folks didn't commit a crime. No crime, no accusal of being criminals, no Habeas Corpus, and no trial. They were just trying to kill "our guys" as well as innocent civilians here and there. "Enemy combatants" seems to be a pretty good description of these folks, afterall, huh?

There are others that do deserve to be executed, but then we should bring them to trail and charge them with offenses - we have thrown Habeas Corpus out the window.

Even if they are brought to trial and found guilty, NONE of them will ever be executed. They will remain in our prison system for the rest of their lives, recruiting more muslems from the gullable prison population, all at taxpayer expense.

Best thing would be to return them to their home country. Most likely their own governments will take care of the situation. I read the Saudi detainees had filed suit NOT to be returned, they know what awaits them.
