If The American People Find Out… They Will Rise Up

By Greg L | 1 July 2009 | National Politics, Illegal Aliens | 57 Comments

One of the larger groups pushing for Obamacare is none other than the ethnic chauvinists of the “National Council of La Raza”.  Why would a group devoted to obtaining amnesty for illegal aliens and racial preferences for Latinos be weighing in so heavily in a national health care debate? It turns out that at least according to them, Obamacare isn’t about giving lower income Americans better access to health insurance and healthcare, it’s about providing public benefits to non-citizens, many of whom are Hispanic.  Who would have guessed that, huh?

From Doug at directorblue comes this whopper:

..Yes [they said they would get free health care for illegal aliens], these are my notes, Mark. They actually got up and said “Latino children need health care more than whites“. And then they would say things like “you must go out into your communities, use words like ’streamline’, use phrases like ‘all workers’ and ‘all families’,” because they said — and I quote — “If the American people find out that this bill is about giving health care to non-citizens, they will rise up against it.”

…One of the quotes they said was, “We want to make sure we take care of barriers like verification, but we can streamline programs to the more affluent” and, quote, “Useless treatments for the elderly can be gone because we don’t need to spend money for people who are going to die anyway.”

That’s a direct quote from that meeting. They also said, “We are very concerned there will be an effort to include” the illegal immigrants in this argument, so “we must make sure that we focus this” to the American people that it’s looking like we want “health care for everyone”.

And they also said that 75% of the children who will be picked up in this will be non-citizens and that 44% of the uninsured are non-citizens and they can’t possibly allow the American people to know this.”

And those of us who want something done about the massive influx of illegal aliens into our communities are supposed to be the racists.  Right.

It’s hard enough to earn a living these days.  The last thing I need my federal government to do is take more of the little I have left and spend it on healthcare for non-citizens, many who aren’t legally present in the United States, all for the purpose of encouraging more non-citizens to come (perhaps unlawfully) so they can get in on this great deal.  Then when my family needs health care, we can have the pleasure of waiting for our turn among the huge crowd this proposal would encourage.  I pay more, I get less quality, and we all get a whole lot more people unlawfully entering this country.

This is so maddeningly stupid it’s hard to fathom how our federal elected officials could possibly even seriously consider such an idea.

We darned well better rise up against this absolute atrocity.

Anyone that thinks this bill isn’t going to make healthcare more expensive for those already insured, is seriously fooling themselves anyway. It is also going to be very interesting to see what taxes they are going to raise to pay for the cost of it. It is going to take a bite out of every currently insured American’s income, that’s a certainty. The only question is how big of a bite, and how much of a decrease in insurance benefits those currently insured have after this takes effect.

Has anyone else wondered why Obama is pushing for the return to power of the Socialist President of Honduras? He wants to ingratiate himself to the Latinos of Central and South America and Mexico. This guy the Honduran military outsted was planning to turn his country into another Venezuela, Bolivia, Equador and Cuba. Ask yourself why Obama would want his return to power.

Maybe if the county was responsible for cleaning up ALL graffiti there would be a concerted effort to go after the perps rather than the victims. A look at the the pictures in the article show that graffiti example was not done in 15 minutes but rather took days. Where were the police when this was happening? Blaming the victim by forcing them to clean up vandalism is not the answer. The paper said so far this year (and it’s only half over,) there have been 600 incidents of graffiti. PWC has a major problem and the police need to get more involved to stop this practice and harsher penalties need to be mandated.

And how do we get our healthcare costs under control?? Right now, there are many citizens with no access to healthcare because of pre-existing conditions - how do we help them?

Healthcare should be for citizens only. Right now, my insurance company dictates the care I get and the medicines I can get. Bush did NOTHING to reign in the spiraling healthcare costs - ask any small business about healthcare, and if they provide health benefits to their empolyees, they will tell you how much it has increased.

One cannot believe any of the advertising hype, as neither side will tell you the truth - but we do need to change our health system.

We ration health care services now and the rationing will become even more onerous, especially on the productive members of society, under Obama’s plan. Those who work hard, pay their own way, act responsibly and obey the law will see a dramatic collapse in the healthcare available to them if this plan prevails.

First, the supply of medical services will decline sharply under Obamacare. In my job, I work with physicians, including some from very prestigious hospitals. For years, they have been telling me that medicine is no longer an attractive field and they would not encourage their children to enter it. Obamacare, with its restrictions on what doctors can do and limitations on their financial compensation, will only accelerate this trend. Doctors go to school in some form or other for at least twelve years after high school before they have any significant earning power, most incurring massive debts along the way. One doctor told me he would not do it again or encourage anyone else to do so just to become an indebted GS-14.

Second, the market, aside from Medicare and Medicaid, rations healthcare now. In other words, anyone willing to work and pay their own way can have whatever healthcare services or insurance they want. Under Obamacare, the government will make the rationing choices. This process will be driven by politics rather than on the basis of who is contributing to society, playing a constructive role and obeying the law (i.e., legal residents and citizens). Obama supporters and constituencies will be first in line.

The bottom line of Obamacare is a shrinking supply of healthcare services as doctors leave the field and others chose careers elsewhere, combined with Obama’s political hacks deciding who gets whatever there is left. Illegal aliens will benefit tremendously under this system. You might as well go ahead and talk to the guy selling cemetery plots on behalf of your parents rather than think they might get the cancer treatment they need.

Wait until after the health reform gets enacted, and people find out they are told that some treatment they wanted to pursue won’t be covered by their insurance, when before it would have been. That’s when everyone will realize what universal health care means - “mediocre health care”.

What I find fascinating is that the SPLC and other groups that see themselves as the arbiters of what constitutes a “hate group” do not list any organization advocating for open borders as a hate group. Not any of Mecha, the mexica movement, Barrois Unidos, Aztlan advocates, La Raza, EZLN or any of those types get labeled, even though many of them have openly called for ethnic cleansing, murdering people based on their skin color, unequal protection of the law, and host of other behaviors that would land any of you or me on the front page of one of their newsletters in a heartbeat. Make no mistake here, the “hate group” label is applied only to a narrow ethnic group when they happen to oppose open borders, and then for the flimsiest or reasons.

The “hate group” label is now so utterly meaningless that it’s not even worth debating whether La Raza qualifies. La Raza advocates ethnic cleansing, and that’s quite enough for me to deplore them.

“Hate” is anything that stands in the way of the NCLR agenda:

    http://www.wecanstopthehate.org/site/details

Projection; a person’s thought or emotion about another person, place or thing is too troubling to admit, and so, that thought or emotion is attributed to originate from that other person, place or thing. For example: “He hates me”, when it is actually the speaker who hates.

A variation on the theme of Projection is known as “Externalization”. In Externalization, you blame others for your problems rather than owning up to any role you may play in causing them.

Do not worry about the government being involved in your health care worry about the insurance company you have. Some clerk knows more about surgery then the head of Duke Medical School because the chart in front of them says you have to have 4 specific things wrong with you before a gall bladder can be removed or a hernia repaired. Of course your Dr who has treated you for more then 8 years knows nothing what so ever about your health.

Don’t believe that if your Dr writes you a perscription that you insurance company will allow it to be filled and any portion of it paid for they know it has to be wrong and want the Dr’s office to call them and get additional authorization to fill it.

Every person in this country should be able to buy the same policies that are offered to the federal Government or to the State in which someone lives without restriction. If the insurance is good enough for the government then why can we the citizens not be able to buy it as well…

At least Obama is trying to do something for people not like Bush and his like minded who say I have insurance and you try to get any at all.

Bob Wills makes some good points. I agree that insurance companies should not make medical decisions. Some changes in insurance regulations to stop abuses on the part of insurance companies are certainly warranted. Offering fairly-priced policies that offer coverage similar to that in the Federal program with suitable oversight of the insurance companies might be the best way to go. The government may even be able to play a role in offering catastrophic coverage, which is not profitable for private companies.

Obamacare, however, will crowd out private health care insurance and ration services on the basis of political criteria, as I wrote in my previous post. If his plan is enacted, all affordable private insurance for the middle-class will be gone within a decade. Bill Gates, George Soros, Terry McAuliffe and their ilk will always be able to buy whatever health care they want. Illegals and other Obama constituents will get health care paid for with our earnings that we used formerly to provide for our families. Hard-working middle-class Americans will get essentially the same package as illegals and can forget about any specialized care.

Obama’s description of his plan as one choice among the private sector alternatives makes as much sense as when he describes his cap and trade (destruction of the American economy) plan as a “jobs bill.” The only jobs that bill will create are in China, India and other countries not subject to such strict controls on energy use.

On a related issue, the Democrats are resorting to an intense propaganda campaign to get their health care and cap and trade plans approved, including outright lies and suppression of opposing points of view. Click on the following link (click on the button on the page to view the flash video and go to the 31 minute mark) to hear an environmental scientist from the University of Virginia describe how Tim Kaine told him to shut up about the extremism and hysteria on global warming, and how the Democratic Governor of Delaware tried to stifle their state climatologist. This is a very interesting video laying out the facts of the extremism, fear-mongering, shallow science and political motivations behind the global warming debate and well worth the hour or so to watch it.

I recall Mark Warner saying of his “Senior Navigation and Planning Act”:

“This is not a savings-driven issue, but a quality-of-life issue.”

My maternal grandmother lived to the age of 105. To her last day in 2003 - when asked how she was doing - her reply was always the same:

” I’m alive, darlin’! Could be worse!” Wonder when some Health Ration Czar would have declared her “aged out” and ineligible for further medical attention. Perhaps 1976 or thereabouts.

“Last September Sen. Barack Obama promised that under his health-care proposal “you’ll be able to get the same kind of coverage that members of Congress give themselves.” On Monday, President Obama repeated that promise in a speech to the American Medical Association. It’s not true.

The president is barnstorming the nation, urging swift approval of legislation that is taking shape in Congress. This legislation — the Affordable Health Choices Act that’s being drafted by Sen. Edward Kennedy’s staff and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee — will push Americans into stingy insurance plans with tight, HMO-style controls. It specifically exempts members of Congress (along with federal employees; the exemptions are in section 3116).
Members of Congress “enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country,” according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. They “can choose from among consumer-driven and high deductible plans that offer catastrophic risk protection with higher deductibles, health saving/reimbursable accounts and lower premiums, or fee-for-service (FFS) plans, and their preferred provider organizations (PPO), or health maintenance organizations (HMO).” These choices would be nice for all of us, but they’re not in the offing. Instead, if you don’t enroll in a “qualified” health plan and submit proof of enrollment to the federal government, you’ll be tracked down and fined (sections 3101 and 6055). ”

Article from the Washington Times - 03 July 2009

If La Raza considers being anti-illegal alien “racist” what do they call the Italians. The Italians are doing things right and not letting the problem fester.

    ITALY

    Tough new law targets illegals

ROME | Italy adopted a tough law against illegal immigration Thursday, including a measure allowing citizens to mount their own patrols, despite fierce criticism from rights groups and the Vatican.

The European Commission announced that it would examine the new measures to determine whether they comply with European Union norms.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi had made tougher immigration rules a cornerstone of the election campaign that saw him returned to power in May 2008.

Under the new law, illegal immigration becomes a criminal offense; anyone caught housing an illegal immigrant could face jail; and parents registering a baby’s birth have to present papers to show they are legal residents.

Perhaps the most controversial measure permits “citizens groups” to mount patrols on the lookout for public order offenses.

An the U.S. is supposed to be the World Leader. Go Italy!

Do not our Minute Man try to do this? Of course GWB, called them vigilantes.

I would rather drink a beer with some MM than some SPLC or ACLU persons. Not that it would ever happen, but if invited by SPLC or ACLU persons to have a beer with them, I would refuse. Of course, I doubt if they even drink beer!

If we let “Citizens Groups” handle the illegals issue, it would be solved in a half year or less.

As is the usual case, it appears that the second generation of Hispanic immigrants does not have the same work ethic as the first. This is not specific to Hispanics. I see this in many immigrant populations. This is due to an acquired sense of entitlement that the USA breeds. But I do see more Hispanics becoming overweight (more so than, say, white, Chinese or Indian).

They will all need medical support to combat diabetes in the near future. Of course they will want free healthcare.

Income taxes will go up. With unemployment going up, those who are “lucky” (i.e. smart, hard working, ambitious, etc.) enough to hang onto their jobs will see their taxes go up exorbitantly.

    Gentlemen, secure your wallets.

I would prefer that the government not make me pay for everybody else’s health care and, at the same time, take away mine because I am too old.

They don’t have to. Everything is given to them and if it isn’t, they cry racism until it is given. They learn fast, don’t they?
