Mr Way,

Thanks. I think one of the more weaker excuses used by the City is to prevent a terrorist attack on our drinking water. All one has to do is look at the Potomac, and the Occuaquan river(which are water sources for Fairfax County, etc to see how silly that excuse is). There are no access restrictions on those bodies of water.

It comes down to the City not pushing enough and the fact the snobs now living on the lake not wanting to share it with the rightful owners. I bet if the City tried again, access could be gained using the old site. It seems the disagreement was over a small issue and if both sides came to the table in good faith it could be worked out.

It's just a shame that 800 acres of great fishing is not being enjoyed.

to: citizen of Manassas

You raise a good point about the use of Lake Manassas. We had a lawyer make essentially the same point at a recent City Council meeting.

I for one do not fully understand why the lake isn't open to non-power water craft. I have heard about right-of-way access issues and also zebra mussel issues.

I don't think the city government is opposed to using the lake. I certainly am not opposed provided health, safety and can be protected and pollution can be mitigated. I have always heard the county is opposed to opening the lake, but nobody tells me why.

I suspect this matter will come up for further discussion in the reasonable future. I agree it is time to do something or explain why we are not doing something.

Starry,

I was a bit disappointed also, but hey, there was somewhere between 350-400 people who took time out to show up at the McCoart Building on a beautiful 4th of July afternoon. And that is 350-400 people who now know they are not alone in how they feel about the direction of the county.

And with regard to Stirrup and Stewart not being there, that didn't bother me a bit. As I recall the Tea Party in April had nothing but GOP office holders speaking and it was nice this time around to see that most of the speakers were politicos as such.

I am so disappointed at the numbers this time around...all over the country. I had really thought that there would be large numbers. The media pretty much ignored it this time around...even Fox.

What happened to all the people that are concerned about this spending, etc.?

I feel that the majority are sitting this one out and that our country is doomed to change for the worse.

No Stewart or Stirrup at said party? Maybe they didn't deem it was "important" enough to spend a few minutes. Oh well!

Mr. Way,

Tell the judge for the same reason the Federal Government can't seem to find a lick of common sense among 535 members of Congress.

There is a lot of "realities trumping desires". Why is it the City can't seem to find access to our lake, but can hire a community activist? Why is the City can fund a arts center that is not needed, but can't seem to find the time or the funds to gain access to our lake?

To anonymous

I would not want to be the one who has to explain to a federal judge why a city with a $300 million budget cannot fund one COURT-MANDATED position. I would have preferred to have integrated it into the existing manpower, but realities trump desires.

Anon:

Many thanks. I did check the Pabst web site. I called the Chantilly distributor yesterday. They were taking Monday off as their 4th of July holiday. I'll try them again today.

I hope the tea party went well.

Speaking of parties - does anyone know where I can buy Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (by the case) in NoVA (especially Sterling)?

Groveton, go to the cite below. You will find two distributers in the area. One is in Chantilly and the other in Fredericksburg. They may be able to provide you with address of a store that sells it. Good luck!

Which is more than you can say for any of the bonds MP took out.

I'm Just saying,

Sorry, but you are the minority in the GOP. How did George Bush win twice towing the party line, yet McCain could not do the same? I'll say it again, because McCain was the most liberal candidate put up by the GOP in many campaigns, and he lost because of it, and because he did not tow the company line. Also, the media no longer had a need to prop up the "maverick".

I love you rino types, you have all this big talk for how the GOP needs to be run, but can't say a negative word about the Dems, maybe it's because you realize you are a Dem and just can't bring yourself to say it.

You are watching the Dem party turn into the Ant-America party before our eyes, yet you worry about the size of the tent of the GOP.

Do you ever notice the Dems do not have a fight over how large their "tent" should be, or any internal discussions on where their party should go? Why is that? Is it because the Dem's only accept the far left into their Party? Do you really think blinky has more in touch with the Average American? Or obama? Or Ted Kennedy?

At least the GOP has discussions about where the party should go, and on one level that is good, because it does show the GOP has a large "tent". However, because the media(the dems) spin it as in fighting, and the purging of the party of anyone who is not "right-wing" nut job, you rinos believe it.

Looking forward to an open thread to discuss Sarah Palin’s upcoming indictment, and discussion of whether or not she can galvanize the right wing from a prison cell.

You can always tell a lib/socialist by the tone of their conversation. If they aren’t railing against a true woman, they’re defending a Barney Frank type or some other freak of nature.
