Rishell Gets A New Job

By Greg L | 14 July 2009 | Jeanette Rishell | 6 Comments

According to the Manassas News & Messenger, Jeanette Rishell is now a professional political consultant.  After taking a “leave of absence” from Carteret Mortgage in order to run twice for office and get handily defeated, she’s now taken her impressive resume (of consistent defeat and frequent bonehead mistakes) and is now peddling advice to, I’m quite certain, candidates for office who might be to the left of Hugo Chavez.  If the barriers to entry for political consultants are so inexplicably low now, without a doubt all of my dear readers easily can vault this minimal bar.  You are now — all of you — professional political consultants.

I can’t wait to see campaign finance reports start showing up with payments to candidate/consultant Jeanette “Moonfruit” Rishell appearing.  Here’s someone who didn’t know what precincts were in the district she was running in, got called out by the local papers for lying in her campaign mailers, regaled audiences by describing herself as “June With A Cleaver” when running in the district where Lorena Bobbit earlier took a little off the top of her husband’s trouser trout, and almost cost the DPVA a revocation of their non-profit permit with the Postal Service in another bone-headed move.  Sometimes, your life should serve as an example to others of what not to do.  I guess Rishell’s political advice can legitimately be taken from a contrarian point of view — that you should do the exact opposite of whatever she counsels — but that same service could be provided by any random homeless person suffering from alcohol addition for a fraction of what Rishell likely charges for her services.

I can’t imagine someone so consistently and horribly out of touch peddling themself as a political consultant.  Her record of electoral prowess displays nothing but a consistently diminishing skill set.  In her first run for office, she loses by six points.  In her second, the margin of defeat grows to twenty points.  Now she’s campaigning in Dale City on July 4th, which not only isn’t in her district, but in a district that doesn’t even border the district she’s running in.  The enthusiasm for her candidacy, even among Democrats, can only be described as frigid and the only reason she’s running is because the Democratic Committee couldn’t manage to find anyone else to run.

I really hope she signs on with the Deeds campaign.  They could really use her help.

    She has herself listed as a Political Consultant with the Chamber of Commerce, also.

    Much has changed in the mortgage industry since Rishell first took leave from her job to run for office. Now there is less money to lend and fewer people qualified to borrow it, resulting in fewer loans being made. As a result, she may have found that once her leave of absence was over, there may not have been a job for her to return to. She certainly demonstrated they could get along without her by being absent all this time.

    Overpaid, useless people are the first to lose their positions when there is a downturn is business. Rather than admit they are unemployed, they attempt tp spin their situation bytelling their peers and former business associates they are “consultants.” In reality, they may not have any income, but it makes them sound like they are doing something.

    Is this the same sort of move as when Gerhart left the chief executive job in PWC, the second largest county in Virginia and one of the wealthiest in the nation, to become a “consultant” for Amtrak? What a “promotion” that was!

    She’s a loser….in the real estate sense, in the political sense, and she will be a loser in the consultant sense……

    Here are some of my major reasons for destesting this insane woman;

    1. By giving Miller 3 victories in a row she will be giving him the aura of being unbeatable. This will make it difficult for us to remove him from office in the future.

    2. Being on the ballot only makes Miller work harder (and by the way he does work a campaign very hard), thus driving up the vote for McDonnell in the 50th while hurting Senator Deeds.

    3. Its obvious that she can raise money, but she still wont win. She has already called me at least 3 times - always with the answer NO. The money she has raised could have gone to John Bell or some of the other much more qualified candidates on our side that might have a chance to win.

    4. The woman wont give a straight or strong answer to save her life. She is so afraid of being put on the record for something, she wont say anything of substance.

    Im not sure if E.J. Scott really likes Rishell, or just couldnt find us a better candidate. Either way I just wish she would fade away. The Rishell candidacy is just going to drive up Mcdonnell’s and Bolling’s numbers.
