One, government is the greatest fraud ever perpetrated upon the human race, and

two, all governments are totalitarian - some more than others. Were they not totalitarian, they would not be a government.

Think you are the one with common sense? Try reading Glen Beck's "Common
Sense". BTW, who is this "Stu" you were addressing?

Stu,

You come across as a scared white man. The Founders you cite were all male, all white, all property owners (including human property), members of the privileged class. It was a completely different world back then. They were fighting monarchy. They thought those not in their class mentally insufficient to be given the vote. I'm glad they did what they did, but I think they would be shocked to see what's happened to their work. I don't think they'd hold your position. You wouldn't qualify.

One of the by-products of today's democracy is everyone has a voice. Even people that have a different view from you. You're point seems to be, "They're different from me, that makes them wrong." That's what I hate most about zealots. No common sense. Same goes for extremists from the far left. But it does sell op-eds, right Stu?

Johnson said - "Well, if we kicked out the 30 million illegal aliens and their families, couldn’t we use that money to care for our own citizens, who deserve it? We can’t baby-sit all of Central America, folks. We don’t have the resources."

So true. But, we do not kick them out. We let more of them come here.

The Obama Adm. is counting on giving amnesty to these 30+ million illegals. The votes of these new "citizens" will give the democrats control of the Country at the federal level for at least 20 or more years into the future. In addition, since most of these former illegals reside in our most populous states, these "new citizens" will provide the means for the democrats to control these states.

I'd like to see every single incumbant for the next 4 election cycles be defeated. Our "representatives" need to learn that this is not a career. They need to be reminded that they serve us, not vice versa. I'm surprised that dems and liberals, being as well educated as they are, are so willing to let their reps decide what's best for them.

Libs and dems claim there is a "health care crisis". Alarmist politics are always effective. Well, if we kicked out the 30 million illegal aliens and their families, couldn't we use that money to care for our own citizens, who deserve it? We can't baby-sit all of Central America, folks.
Cynic,
As the late, great Ed McMahon said often, "you are correct, sir!" (Pardon me if you are a woman.) This is what nominees of all political persuasions do. Avoid answering all hot-button-issue questions. Sadly, Sen. Graham was right when he said that unless Sotomayor has a melt down (which from what we have learned about her temper would be interesting to see) she's donning the black robe come October.
All one needs do, aside from read my column above, which you already did, (thank you) is read the words of the nominee herself when she came down against gun ownership and saying states do not have to abide by the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. As I state above, she needs a refresher class in the Constitution, specifically the 10th Amendment giving states the powers not stated in the above amendments.

Johnson,
Absolutley correct in your assessment about the Dems being racist and keeping the evils of racism alive. Race-baiters like Jesse (Hymietown) Jackson and Al "Sharpie" Sharpton perpetuate racism in order to remain center-stage. Recall Howard Beach. Recall Yankel Rosenbaum, of Blessed memory, and others.
One of the many reasons I became a Republican years ago had to do with a speech I remember hearing at a Dem convention, I think in 1980. The speaker broke down all groups with their hyphenated names. I don't recall my group being mentioned. Then I remember Reagan speaking at the GOP convention, same year. We were all Americans - period. 'Nuff said.

OK, next gripe - folks, pay attention to the votes cast on forced Socialist health care. Everyone of the members of Congress who votes "yea," MUST be targeted for defeat in 2010. Cheers to Congressman Fleming of Louisiana calling for all those voting for this hideous bill to sign of to it personally. So far 47 Republicans have signed on and, not surprisingly none of the hypocritical Democrats.

OK, let's get busy.

Sotomayor is a racist, pure and simple. She is also a judicial activist who, as a wise latina, knows better than the white men who wrote the Declaration of Independence, fought and died in the Revolution and wrote the Constitution (including the second amendment and all the separation of powers stuff). Why should a wise Latina waste her valuable time with a musty old document written by far less competent white men?

She will be confirmed.

The only good news is that a complete fool, David Souter, is gone.

Have not watched the Hearings but from what I have seen in News Reports and read in POST, she sure is good at evading or not directly answering questions.

For example - saying that you have relative who hunts and is a members of the NRA is not addressing the purpose of the 2nd Amendment which is not about hunting, but the right to own and bear Arms without jumping through a million hoops of government laws, regulations, and rules before being allowed to purchase one.

My interpretation of such an answer is that she is attempting to give the impression that she is pro gun and that she interprets the 2nd Amendment as supporting a pro gun position when, based upon her earlier rulings and pronouncements, she has supported a strong anti gun position and the laws, regulation, and rules to support that anti gun position.

A racist nominated a racist for the Supreme court. Nice. She'll be confirmed by conservatives who are afraid to face down a racist, regardless of their race. A white man, with his rich life experiences, wouldn't have made it this far, because as we all know, only whites are racist. Wake up, America!
