Bruce, are you out of your mind? You are a communist. You, nor I, have any 'right' to consume a service, and expensive manufactured products from any person unless they willingly give it to us for free, or unless we choose to spend our money on what they have to offer. That includes healthcare. I consider you to be violating my freedom of religion by using the government to push yours upon me. You believe that you, the government, and doctors can pretend to be a pseudo-God. You don't understand that nature can be cruel, and that when you are born into the world, there are no guarantees from natural evil - be it weather cataclysms, or your rare condition that cost you money to fix.

Having access to other human beings who choose to charge you money to heal you is not a right. Insurance != Healthcare. Medicaid & Medicare != Healthcare. If you are not able to pay for your health services, someone else will be working to do so if you force them to through the government or an unfair insurance environment that does not adequately manage 'moral hazard' and do good risk management. You are creating indentured servants in the creation of your utopian vision. This universe is not constructed to fit within your Disney movie. The Democrat plan will create the chaos that exists in other Countries with nationalized healthcare because it starts with a false premise - that value can create itself out of thin air and no one pays for services and goods entitled by law. When taxes are passed on the rich, they will increase prices, and every paying customer will be forced to labor to pay for those who do not, will not, and choose other things like cell phone plans, xboxes, houses they can't afford, netflix subscriptions, cable tv, internet connections in their home instead of using the libraries we pay for anyway, makeup, designer jeans, video games, booze, pot, and all sorts of other modern luxuries that they blow their money on instead of being responsible citizens who choose to pay for things like healthcare.

Your vision is hostile, enslaving, envious, greedy, anti-freedom, anti-self reliance, and anti-American. Maybe you are not a Marxist, but more like Gramschi communist. When you become a real American, you will understand that American reform to healthcare begins with regulation of insurance competition, helping to divorce employers from healthcare, increase of risk management equity and mitigation of moral hazard implications, tort reform that institutes English Law rules, and removal of government jobs to push money and papers around completely except for that which is required to regulate and enforce rules that help the aforementioned goals to inspire maximum free market effectiveness.

I will dig my own grave before i will take a dime from the government and let them have my dignity and freedom. Everyone is going to die. Everyone is going to suffer. At least I will do so without subserviance to the worst charity ever invented - governments that pretend that bureaucrats like Connolly care and are capable of real charity.

You are not entitled to shit, asshole. Now pick up a shovel and act like an American. Work a second job to get that money back. Go take your chances at a casino if you're the risky type. Whatever you do, take responsibility for yourself, and don't you dare look at your neighbors with envy and expectation again.

I'm going to that 'town hall' meeting. I will be stuck outside, with my sign: "Hey Gerry, why hide behind the gates?"

I hope you all come too.

howdy,

as someone who actually resembles bruce lee (i.e. i'm asian in ethnicity, american in nationality), thought i'd put in a penny or two. reading most of this blog, seems like it's pretty much a "write if you agree" site. so i hope you won't mind an alternative opinion and an invitation to discussion and dialogue.

i have health care. my company puts in a nice sum to make sure i'm well taken care of. even so, a year ago, i got hit by something called cluster migraines. trust me, you don't want this in your life. i found myself trying to drive to the emergency room, head ready to burst, stomach ready to vomit. i made it with only one trip to throw up in someone's driveway (sorry if it was yours! tried my best to clean up afterwards).

that emergency room visit cost me (after insurance covered some 80% ) near $3,000 out of pocket. yep, i'm fully insured with a decent plan. you bet i'm going to think twice before i rush to the emergency room next time.

i don't know about you, but i'm pretty sure our health care system is broke. and it's only getting worse. SO...instead of calling folks on the hill communists or socialists or whatever, why don't we offer some alternative plans?

i agree with the notion that health care is a right, not a privilege. and over 80% of americans agree with me. if health care is a right, then let's talk about what (at minimum) that right ought to constitute. i DON'T want government to dictate who i can see or what tests i can or can't take, but gosh darn it, it's ALREADY BEING DICTATED BY MY HMO ANYWAYS! AND I SURE DON'T TRUST THEM!

so...why not send our senators and congressman some constructive ideas on how to CHANGE THE SYSTEM and STILL HONOR THE CONSTITUTION and our rights as americans? cause if i get another migraine, you, the tax payer, will be paying for my brains being cleaned off the bathroom walls - cuz i'm not going to emergency to get deeper into debt.

the system is broken - we all know it. let's try and offer some positive suggestions.

I called Connolly's office about the Health Care bill, and the aide I was talking to hung up on me while I was talking. I called back, thinking there was a problem with my cell phone and got to the same person. When he found out who I was he called me a nazi and hung up on me again. I sent an email complaining about this, and today I got a form letter back thanking me for my input on the Health Care issue, but not a word about what happened.

Gerry Connolly is the worst Congressman ever. Marie Antoinette had nothing on this guy. Thing is I voted for this guy last election. I'm not making that mistake again.

Jenshadus - it's up to you to MAKE ConMan a one termer. Get busy and make it happen. I'm stuck in VA-8 with the Moron Moran, and I'm thinking I should take him on if I can raise some coin.

I'm hoping that Connelly is a one term rep. Wonder if SAIC will rehire him. Probably, and make him a VP because of his 'connections', and then he'll make a ton of money. He was just a two bit project manager before he got into politics. The only problem I foresee, and the republicans don't get it, is that they put in complete right wingers up for elections. Frank Wolf has been around a long time, he's well loved by his constituents, and he's honest with them (I know an oxymoron but there you have it). The other problem is the local media. They, like the big boys, are horrible liars and socialists and well. When are we going to be able to read truth in the media. Not any time soon.

My bet is that if Connelly even have the courage to hold a town hall meeting, it would be a phone in only. Also, his office would only notify pro-Dem groups (e.g unions, MoveOn. org, etc.). In addition, it would probably be as far as he could set it is as far he could from PWC.

Can anyone tell me how in the hell we managed to get Connoly as our representative.

He rode in on the coattails of Zero (Obama). It happens.

Millions of Obamabots went to the polls and went all Democrat on the ticket, hence he got in. Lucifer himself would've been elected if there was a (D) beside his name.

If anyone wants to see what we have to look forward to w/ government run health care, just take a look at VA hospitals. Have you ever met anyone happy with their care there? I promise you, they are not all Betheda Naval Hospitals or Walter Reed Mecical Centers. And this is how we treat America's heroes.

Why wait for a town hall meeting? It's obvious the coward is dodging anyone that disagrees with his opinion. The poor fool needs to realize who is working for who, here. I say why not pick a day and protest in front of his Prince William office....If there is enough support in this action......this could even be a daily action. And, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that did happen, far many more are more upset by the Hill's "pass and then read the bill" attitiude.

We can and should call Connelly's office about a town-hall meeting. However, we can call "until the cows come home" but he won't host such a meeting -- he KNOWS what would happen and he doesn't want to hear what his constituents want -- it would tarnish him.

I think we should organize our own town-hall meeting...and in his fearful absence, put a "stuffed dummy" up front, with a sign on its chest that says "Rep G Connolly." ...and perhaps we could get Keith Fimian to moderate the meeting.

Can anyone tell me how in the hell we managed to get Connoly as our representative. For years this tax and spend clown spent his way into the heart of every Fairfax special interest group. Fairfax Co. deserves the name, San Francisco of the East. I just hope that someone has the organization to de-elect this clown during the next election. Hopefully, during the next election, the "Firefighters for Connoly" machine will not be out in force since Connoly has not raised their salary during the preceding two years.

Here's my nickel's worth of free advice: If you live in ConMan's district, call every day ask when his town hall meeting will be held. Let them know the even the moron Moran in my hideous district is holding court (details below). It takes but a minute or two to do this. The numbers for the ConMan are: 703-256-3071 (Annandale office) and 703-670-4989 (Prince William office).

As for Moran's town hall meeting:
Health Care Town Hall w/ Rep Moran & Howard Dean
Tuesday, 25 August 2009
7:00 p.m. -- 9:00 p.m.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
South Lakes High School, Auditorium
11400 South Lakes Dr. | Reston, Virginia
PoC: Grassroots@AlexYRs.org

As many people as possible should attend, armed with questions coming from the actual text of the health care bill HR-3200 to demonstrate that WE have done Moran's job and that is not fit to hold said job.

As for who should replace him, help me raise the cash, I'll take him on - damn it.

OK, let's get busy.

Somewhere in this forlorn blather of fear and loathing, someone used the word “system” in connection with the word healthcare. There is a “system” in operating on a person with stage 4 lung cancer, with a triple bypass,so that when that person is dead 3 months after the operation, the so called, doctors have and extra 125,000K $ollars in their pockets. That is a “system” , it has nothing to do with healthcare .

Maybe paying that 125k to someone like Jack Kevorkian might be better?

TG,

And when you or a loved one is told by the Government your life is not worth the cost, you might think differently. I was not in the service, but I say that you were screwed too in that situation.

Why change a system that has worked very nicely, so nicely that people who have "free" health care come here for our health care system?

It is very clear obama and his fellow anti-American libs want to get us to a single pay system where the Government tells you when, where and if you can get care.

Do you think for one minute a system that adds 47 million people to the system, is not going to cost us an extra penny? Well, that is what obama is saying. Of course he also said unemployment would not rise above 8%, he said the "stimulus" package had to be passed or else. He said the John Deere, or was it Caterpillar would be able to hire people, when it fact they had to lay off even more people. Now, do you really trust him, when he says we will have a better system, with better care, and it will not cost us any additional money? Really, do you believe that?

The above person was not had not even reached a 50th b-day and would have died of cancer no matter what, but the doctor's were able to harvest a 125,000 $ollar bypass.

When I was in the service that was called Screwed , Blued and Tattooed.

You can get an idea of what Connolly thinks...

“When you look at the fervor of some of these people who are all being whipped up by the right-wing talking heads on Fox, to me, you’re crossing a line,’ Connolly said. ‘They’re inciting people to riot with just total distortions of facts. They think we’re going to euthanize Grandma and the government is going to take over.”
