Jeanette Rishell is going to be campaigning outside of her district Monday evening (tonight) at an event sponsored by “The Brigades” and promoted by Obama’s “Organizing For America“. The event is headlined by none other than Ben Tribbett, who currently is hosting on his website a video critical of Rishell’s campaign and has previously tagged Jeanette Rishell ’s previous campaigns as “pathetic” and labelled hers as the worst campaign of 2006 and 2007. Rishell seems to be so hard up for money at this point she’s campaigning alongside people who seem to utterly despise what she’s doing to the Democratic Party and think she’s a joke of a candidate. What desperation.
The opportunity for a few well-placed questions is simply mind boggling here, and the best part is that Ben is typically honest enough to answer questions posed to him without resorting to spin and subterfuge. Although these meetings are supposed to be a very friendly venue for Democrats, they’re open to the public and it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities that there would be questions to either Ben about Rishell’s questionable behavior, or to Rishell about how she feels that Ben is promoting a video that takes her to task for hiring a campaign manager who was posting a picture of a used condom discarded in a toilet on her public FaceBook page. The responses would be most entertaining.
Someone at the event might ask her why her campaign is claiming ownership of that photo and trying to protect it under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. That would be very interesting. Not that it’s really necessary, since that question will undoubtably come up down the road at some public event the press and voters in her district are more likely to attend. There are a lot of voters out there really eager to see Rishell explain this in public, though. It’s been weeks since this broke, and not only hasn’t Rishell explained all this to anyone, but she’s still employing this same campaign manager. I guess she approves of this kind of stuff. What else can one conclude?
Someday Jeanette Rishell is going to actually have to face the voters of the district she’s running in. She can hide out in districts that don’t even border the district she’s running in for only so long, as raising money outside the district by itself isn’t going to win anyone an election. Someday she’s going to actually have to get face-to-face with voters. And talk to them.
When she finally does, I’m sure they’ll have a lot of questions for her.
