I could care less about his driving, but I just saw his campaign's video of an event last week. It's downright depressing -- almost nobody there; those who were, weren't enthusiastic; and a bunch of campaign zombies with notebooks taking down who-knows-what info about the few unfortunates who showed up.

Yeah, that's a campaign I want to be anyplace near ...

Back when I was growing up in Fairfax Co., Jack Herrity, the chairman of the Board of Supervisors, was ALWAYS getting pulled over for speeding. Didn't hurt his political career.

I love your posts, but this one on speeding is a little catty... Everyone speeds. Everyone. You speed. I speed. Maybe not all the time, but we do at times. I defy you to show me a single driver that never exceeds a speed limit. Yes, marginally public safety is affected when speeds are exceeded, which is why speed limits are imposed in the first place. I think lambasting him (and I don't support him or care about him) is a little excessive, given the circumstances of the event.

WaPo - 8/14/09 - A Hyattsville man who instituted a "reign of terror" in the county was sentenced to life in prison without parole for breaking into the homes of 4 widows, hogtying them, gagging them and killing his final victim.

Three dozen friends and relatives of the victims came to see JOSE GARCIA-PERLERA, 34, led off to prison.

I agree with Anon-arrogance of power. It starts with traffic laws and builds to bailouts, thousand page bills being rammed through congress and the arrogant attitude that our elected representatives know what's good for us better than we do. Being a representative in congress should convey no level of power, only responsibility. Hence the name, "public servant".

It is about the arrogance of power. Is Deeds so important he doesn't have to obey traffic laws?

There is plenty on the internet to look at. Lets start with Governor Corzine who is losing in his reelection for governor.

There are interesting parallels.

There was a judge in Botetourt County, Virginia that was giving jail time for 80+ MPH. From what I hear, in Fairfax anything over 90MPH will get you jail time.

honestly, who cares? he just got caught. anyone who travels the hov in the mornings to work knows that unless you do 80 or above you get run over. If he's doing 100 then that's news, anything under is just small potatoes in my view.

IF you're talking ethics, explain this one...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/11/AR2009081103281.html

In campaign literature mailed recently to Northern Virginia residents, Robert F. McDonnell touts himself as a "governor that Fairfax County families can be proud to call their own." In another mailer sent to Hampton Roads residents, he touts himself as "a governor Virginia Beach can be proud to call our own." But McDonnell, the Republican nominee for governor, doesn't live in Fairfax or Virginia Beach. He lives in Henrico County, just outside Richmond....
