Connolly Announces A Last-Minute Town Hall
By Greg L | 25 August 2009 | Gerry Connolly, US Congress | 9 Comments
This morning the email inbox is abuzz with an announcement that Gerry Connolly will be holding a Town Hall meeting tomorrow. How nice that Connolly is giving people such short notice. Is he hoping that too few people could rearrange their schedules in one day so they could attend a Town Hall meeting that starts at 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon?
When: Wednesday, August 26, 2009
Time: Between 3:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.
THE UPS STORE
7371 Atlas Walk Way
Gainesville, VA 20155
Let’s hope that despite the bizarre way this was announced, the constituents who wanted to give their input to their representative will be able to make it.

I can just imagine Connolly sending out a notice to his union buddies from the SEIU a week in advance and then springing this on the rest of us with about a day’s notice. The place he’s meeting at is really small, and easy to pack with compliant supporters, not to mention he can get the business owner to toss out anyone Connolly doesn’t want to deal with.
This ought to be real intersting. I hope people bring their video cameras.
Someone might ask Gerry if there is any coincidence in his holding the meeting at a UPS store. After all, the unions are in a power grab to change the the labor laws to make it harder for Fed Ex to compete with UPS.
My High-Quality Democrat Representatives…
Gerry Connolly, this site’s beloved ex-Chairman of Saudi Arabia, now represents in Congress the 11th District here in sunny Northern Virginia, an area that is pretty well known for being pretty heavily left-of-center.
Yet, in this largely friendly …
Of course, UPS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. No coincidence here.
Wow, a WHOLE hour of the Congressman’s time.
We should all bow before him and thank him for sacrificing so much of his time to meet with the little people.
Why is it out in Gainesville? Is that even part of the 11th District, and Northern VA?
Fed,
The 11th CD is really goofy–it comes out of Fairfax county and swings south of Manassas then goes north on the west side of the city, while the 10th CD comes down from the north and includes the city and an area east of town.
Fed & PJ -
It’s called gerrymandering, a redistricting scheme in which electoral district boundaries are deliberately modified for electoral advantage.
The time was changed. Gerry showed up at 11:30. Lots of people didn’t know and showed up around 3:30 but there wasn’t anything going on because Gerry changed the time at the last minute.
