whatever happened to reporters back-checking their information? This would have been a non-issue had they done that. Wherever I’ve been stationed local news media had good working relationships with the units and called all the time. Why they didnt directly call the unit responsible (they “should” have known, if they were good reporters)? A quick call to the station would have cleared this up. However they decided to release anyway, which was stupid.

Those are 44′ boats? Yikes! I roll out to the Gulf Stream in a 50′ fishing boat out of Oregon Inlet and I feel like I am going to Davey Jones’ locker about one third of the time.

CNN is always out there with “breaking news.” Most of the time you get no follow-ups because the story was a non-story but they won’t tell you that. You just don’t hear anything more from them on the subject they touted as a “breaking news story.” Go FOX network!

First, thank you for your service to our country. Second, I should have gone to the US Coast Guard web site to look up the motto instead of Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Us_coast_guard. Wikipedia had two translations and I picked the wrong one.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully, those guys don’t have to get their boats from Baltimore to the Potomac if something bad starts to happen. I’ve been fishing the Bay and the Potomac most of my life and that’s a long way!

I’ll see if I can get an e-mail to the Vice Admiral’s office with my support and offer to buy the guys involved some beer. Who knows? I’ll probably first have to convince them that I am not some zonked out liberal trying to send them poisoned beer. Or, they can go have some beer and send me the tab.
