Abortionists To Counter-Protest In Manassas Saturday
By Greg L | 1 October 2009 | Manassas City | 9 Comments
The first Saturday morning of the month is a time when local pro-life activists, primarily but not exclusively Catholics, hold a larger vigil outside of an abortion clinic in Manassas. But this Saturday morning “Planned Parenthood” will be holding a counter-demonstration on the east side of Route 234 (the same side as the clinic), while the pro-life crowd will be on the west side. I guess the abortion mill is losing enough business now that not only are they trying to get the permit used by the pro-lifers restricted, but they have to physically come out in support of the place.
The more the merrier, I say. I’d really like to see the peaceful spectacle that has been ongoing for over a decade ramp up a bit, as it might just cause enough folks to think about this place and hopefully hasten its closure. The more activity in front of this place, the less likely more lives will be lost there, the less likely the people who profit from these deaths will be able to earn a living doing so, and the more likely this will someday shut down. “Planned Parenthood” plays into this rather nicely with their counter-demonstration.
It will also be interesting to see the difference in behavior between the groups. The pro-life crowd that gathers there hasn’t broken the peace ever during their long years of activism, and is dedicated to having their vigil remain that way. The let’s-kill-unwanted-and-inconvenient-babies crowd is likely not to exhibit the same demeanor, and the comparison between the two should be interesting. I’m sure they’re not going to get physical, as everyone here I think is dedicated to the peaceful and responsible expression of First Amendment rights, but sometimes that expression of opinion can still get pretty ugly. I am always amused by the abortionist crowd’s shallow arguments and ridiculous behavior.
What are you doing between 7:30 and 9:00 am this Saturday? Care to discourage some folks who think murdering unborn babies is a morally acceptable thing to do by showing that the pro-life consensus is bigger than they could possibly match? Having them walk away feeling defeated just might help a bit to put an end to this disturbing blot on the City of Manassas.

So if I read the map right, the first thing one see’s heading out the door of the clinic is a church.
That has to be the definition of uncomfortable neighbors.
Or not. Just saw it’s a Methodist church.
Counter-demonstrate the Rosary being prayed? That will be interesting to see.
I’ll be there, beads in hand.
I’ll be there, Rosary in hand, children in tow . . . (if I can roust them that early ;-))
Actually, the Methodist church in question is an evangelical conservative one. Nice people. There is also a large Baptist church across the street.

Thanks for weighing in on the female side - and that of the Methodist church. Sure would be fun to see Greg out there with a stroller full of posies. Might be worth making a trip.
What’s wrong with the Methdist church anyway? Just asking.

That was a pretty amazing turnout, though I saw no one from Planned Parenthood on the other side. I went by fairly late though.
I was there from 7:30 to a little after 8:30. As I was leaving there was one gentleman arriving with a pile of handmade “Pro-Choice” signs to set up. Over half of the ~200 Pro-Life folks were still there when I left.
In the past there’s maybe a dozen or two dozen folks that show up to pray the Rosary on Saturday mornings. We’re usually done by 8:30 or so. A special thanks to Planned Un-Parenthood for increasing our numbers by 10 fold and encouraging folks to stay longer ;).
Thank you for going out and praying. Prayer is peaceful and positive. Thank you.
