Jeanette Rishell Lies About Endorsements In Flyer
By Greg L | 10 October 2009 | Jeanette Rishell, 50th HOD District | 19 Comments
UPDATED…
The Jeanette Rishell campaign is handing out these flyers today in Manassas Park, claiming that she is endorsed by the Virginia Education Association. Only she’s not. Her opponent, Delegate Jackson Miller is the one who the VEA endorsed candidate in this race. Who would have thought that Jeanette Rishell’s campaign would sink so low as to claim the endorsement from teachers that she hasn’t earned?
Once again, Jeanette Rishell is caught in a bald-faced lie. Apparently she’s learned nothing after being caught lying in the last election cycle.

Greg I was at the fair all day and Jeanette never showed up. IN HER OWN BACKYARD! Donald Shuemaker was handing out the flyers. In 05 who would think that Donald would be the most credible Dem running for this seat over the next 4 years!
OH, I am sure she will come back that she meant a local branch of the VEA…
As far as I know, all of them endorsed Jackson as well.
Jackson didn’t show up either, which was a huge disappointment. No Republican presence whatsoever.
MEA and PWEA both endorse Jackson Miller. I think there is an MPEA group, but I have no idea regarding an endorsement.
Just further proof that she’ll say anything, do anything, to get elected. She has probably realized that in about 3 weeks, her political career will be over.
I hope the MJM will smash her to bits over this. She deserves it.
or maybe she’s just so desperate that she’s recycling old flyers from a previous campaign. Yeah…I can see her claiming that, or blaming staffers and taking no responsibility whatsoever.
Whose bulk permit is that?
You know, she doesn’t actually see that SHE is endorsed by the VEA… just that SOMEONE or SOMETHING (which remains unmentioned) is endorsed by the VEA. Perhaps she is talking about her opponent (rather obliquely)?
Well, the flyer does seem to say that the VEA endorses the strengthening of our public schools–yeah… Is she trying out for a place in Obama’s administration?
anon, I think you’ve got it… she’s telling us that the VEA endorses public schools! I wasn’t sure before.
Check out the Postal Permit on the flyer at this url

Interesting.
Same permit #, different post office. Your point is what?
A permit #42 in Woodbridge, VA, is NOT the same as a permit #42 in a post office in Providence, RI. Mailing permit numbers are issued by the post office where the permit was applied for, in sequential order, without regard for what other permit numbers were issued by other post offices. (See, they were doing this long before there were computers, and it was just easier to do it that way).
She is just following the lead of Deeds. He has Mark Warner in ads claiming Deeds is not going to raise taxes. Really, Mark?
I think the woman is senile.
I can fix the quality of public schools, kick out all the illegal aliens who cannot provide proof of citizenship, deport illegal alien parents who cannot provide proof of citizenship then you have problem solved. Lower ratio classrooms and more teacher-student time. More money for books, supplies and such. Happier kids and less crime in the school. Talk about a way to save money and improve things at the same time. Of course this is utopia but I can dream cant I?
Well, as I said when Jackson secured VEA’s endorsement, that is not an endorsement which should earn him the votes of any Republican or parent who cares about the quality of their child’s government education. However, in providing this opportunity for Mrs. Rishell to demonstrate her dishonesty, it has now provided some utility.
Regarding the second and third comments, a little insight into NEA endorsements: I know of no occasion where, when a state NEA affiliate has issued an endorsement, a subordinate local NEA affiliate has endorsed another candidate. I believe that such a happenstance would violate NEA rules. Thus, even if Mrs. Rishell were to claim endorsement by a local organization, it would be a falsehood where, as here, VEA has endorsed.
However, the Virginia Education Association is a discrete, readily-identifiable organization. Claiming an endorsement when VEA has endorsed your OPPONENT is not only knowingly false, but is something that the VEA legal department would be all over … if a Republican had done so. It remains to be seen whether the VEA will demonstrate similar protection of its interests when the wrongdoer is a Democrat.
This flyer was created during the 05 campaign; not sure why this is being handed out now.
Matt, I thought this looked familiar.
Good question about why it’s being handed out now, though. Not only is the information inaccurate, but this flyer looks pretty hastily done and is a far cry from the production quality of Rishell’s current stuff. This makes her look pretty amateurish.
