It is a tad strange that some folks desire to play in the human sewer system. I could care less what they do, but I don't want my tax dollars to alleviate their HIV/AIDS. Out in Wyoming the ladies of the night demand the sheep herders that come to town pull it back and milk it down to ensure there ar no sheep pellets in under the fore skin, ergo, strabge habits have been going on for a spell.

Jay, It seems silly and futile to troll for votes from people who don't live and vote in the district you're running in. Instead, Mr. Bell is trolling for money from inebriated, young, gay men so that he can try to represent a district that consists primarily of conservative families with Pro-Life plates, stickers from their church, and stickers from Conservative and/or Republican candidates on their vehicles. As mentioned earlier, he'd be better off trying to garner support from the people he would be potentially representing. No one likes carpetbagger, yet, that is exactly what Bell is making himself out to be.

I'm speaking from experience, Jay. I've spent much time in both the countries you name, spoke the language fluently, and lived and worked among the people. Homosexuality was rampant among young men. I saw no pogroms against those who practiced it, even though, as I said, the religion considers it a sin.

Once in a while the western press will report punishments of homosexuals. I suspect that their homosexuality was used as an excuse to stifle the victims' political activity.

Indeed -

“I’ve lived in an Islamic society and trust me, homosexuality, though considered a sin, is neither prosecuted nor persecuted there” is a statement of pure mental retardation. . .Egypt? Saudi Arabia? How about some of the more hostile places? Where do they grow these people who believe these things?

"mah gawd sez fags be rong! dey hate 'merica! mah bibble tels me so!"

Sorry kids- homosexuality is in nature. . .and your love of phantom gods means you selectively endorse the bibble's interpretation of fag-bashing while you strangely don't support the same bibble's endorsement of genocide, rape, and sepratist tendencies. . .all of which are found in the hilarious yet strangely entertaining old testament (as christians condescendingly call it)

Once again, trolling for votes from the fairies is intelligent. . .winning elections means you attempt to spread the tent. . .it's the 'Merican way, right?

Bell would have you believe as a retired "major" he orchestrated the USAF's budget process. He is a perfect example of a "rear elliptical carbonate exhaust vent".

Greg, did Bob offer a solution after fighting the transportation compromise? I admire his courage in being the only legislator to do so, but every day that I sit in traffic trying to get home to my husband and daughter, I wonder if there's something else that could have be done that WAS constitutional. As a bill drafting giant, why didn't he draft a bill that WAS constitutional, especially as he's so learned in the process?

You're going to base your vote on who uses spell check the best?

Seriously, Bob Marshall was the author of the Marriage Amendment and the only legislator courageous enough to fight in the courts to get the unconstitutional transportation compromise (HB3202) defeated in the courts. Bob knows process and law better than just about anybody, and has won what many would consider some tremendous victories for Virginians.

Of course if you're more concerned with "keeping government out of the bedroom" as you say, just pick up the list of candidates endorsed by the Virginia Partisans Gay & Lesbian club and have at it. Vote for socialism and servitude with a clear conscience.

The rest of us will continue soldiering on to protect the lives of the unborn, and prevent homosexual activists from criminalizing our personal and religious convictions that clearly tell us that homosexuality is an unfortunate aberrant behavior that leads too often to mortal diseases, personal strife and unhealthy lifestyles by those who decided to engage in it.

Patty, women can have abortions on demand as it stands, and will stand so long as Roe v. Wade is upheld. This is a national issue and there's nothing any Virginia lawmaker can do to change this. I think its fair to assume that pro-choice individuals are pro-abortion. Nobody likes "killing babies", but I do see Mr. Bell's point in that, after 90+ bills drafting trying to restrict this right, his time might be better spent on other things, like drafting bills to provide women with better information regarding prevention. The point is moot, and when the legislators of the commonwealth only spend 60 days one year and 30 the next, I want progress.

Perhaps my biggest concern with Bob's candidacy is the fact that, on his letter which I received this past week, he claims to be a "bill drafting gint". Not only am I not sure what a "gint" is and would appreciate a delegate who uses spell check, but I want a legislator who is a "bill PASSING" giant, not a bill drafting one.

That said, I'm still undecided, two weeks out, and frustrated with both choices. Mr. Bell's candidacy is based on his service, and Marshall's based on his record...but I'm left wondering what the reality of that record is, and am sorely disappointed in the messaging of both campaigns.

John Bell is a fan of: Marriage Equality and Naral Pro-Choice America. Check out his facebook: http://www.facebook.com/people/John-Bell/1667150159?sid=0

He picked on Bob Marshall's concern with social issues during the debates. Do you wonder why?

John Bell will work to demolish the Marriage Amendment. He will make sure that women can have abortion (killing babies) on demand. He says he is for fiscal responsibility (NOT) and doesn't care if the state paves a wide path to hell.

I'm surprised he hasn't joined the BRUU. He would fit in with the Godless. He can chum around with Bruce.

Jay, do you consider yourself to be a TOLERANT person and an advocate of DIVERSITY?
If so, follow your own liberal advice and learn to "tolerate" people who hold to the "diverse" belief (different from your own) that homosexuality is a sin based on what God's Word says. Otherwise, you should consider yourself INTOLERANT and not an advocate of DIVERSITY!

Jay, I suppose that next, you "educated ones" will support a proposal for the government to "stay out of a man's bedroom" by condoning/supporting the marriage of a loving man and his equally loving and gorgeous goat.

Jay, your logic is terrible!
God gave people the ability to make choices (exercise "preferences") in different areas of life (which might be "good" or "bad" choices) - we are not robots. God wants people to make "good" choices based on what HE deems appropriate (as can be found in the Bible), not what society deems appropriate (if it is contrary to God's Word). God considers homosexuality a sin (which can be forgiven like all other sins - provided that individuals actively try to turn away from the sinful behavior which demonstrates true repentence). Why don't you actually read the Bible and see what it actually says vice using talking points that you received from uninformed sources. Just because people have tendencies/attractions/urges to certain things...alcohol, other types of drugs, same sex, too much sex, stealing, using foul language, etc. does not mean that they HAVE TO ACT UPON THOSE TENDENCIES/ATTRACTIONS/URGES. They have a "choice" to either act upon them ("bad behavior") or exercise self control to supress them ("good behavior").

God considers homosexuality a sin (which can be forgiven like all other sins - provided that individuals actively try to turn away from the sinful behavior which demonstrates true repentence). Why don’t you actually read the Bible and see what it actually says vice using talking points that you received from uninformed sources. Just because people have tendencies/attractions/urges to certain things…alcohol, other types of drugs, same sex, too much sex, stealing, using foul language, etc. does not mean that they HAVE TO ACT UPON THOSE TENDENCIES/ATTRACTIONS/URGES. They have a “choice” to either act upon them (”bad behavior”) or exercise self control to supress them (”good behavior”).

Virginians rednecks who think this is a story. . .
. . .soooo cute!

Homosexuality is found in multiple species of mammals, primates, and birds so the 'unnatural' retard-redneck argument is out. . .

. . .if you murderous and genocidal old testament gives you reason to pause, then take up the issue with your invisible-phantom-gawd-in-the-sky that made multiple sexual preferences to begin with.

Grow up. Being gay is only a big deal to those who really haven't much education or experience. And trolling for votes is the name of the game. . .

Once in long, long while Virginians should do something to break up the stereotype of being some of the most sexually-backward 'tards east of the mississippi. . .but the educated won't hold its collective breath.

"Why would a candidate in a district that has gone pretty darned conservative over the past decade be trying to raise money in a gay bar in Arlington?"

Reminds me of the question someone asked the bank robber, Willie Sutton. "Why do you rob banks?" He answered, "Because that's where the money is."

Johnson:

I've lived in an Islamic society and trust me, homosexuality, though considered a sin, is neither prosecuted nor persecuted there. It's pretty openly practiced in all the Islamic countries I lived in and visited. Gonnorhea of the anus was the disease du jour at King Faisal hospital in Riyadh 30 years ago. An entire ward was dedicated to sufferers of it.

It takes money in an Islamic society to marry. And those with money have more than one wife, leaving those with little or no money no option for sex but to enter into homosexual relationships. Kinda like Catholic seminaries here. What would you expect? Celibacy?
