Exactly...if you look at who is on the CVB Board as their TREASURER, then you will see why the Prince William County CVB uses our tax money to promote a Fairfax County business. Can you believe the CVB Treasurer works for the Lazy Susan?!!! Outrageous...I wonder if she even lives in the Neabsco District that she was appointed to "represent"?? I would think the Fairfax CVB had plenty of money and could promote the Lazy Susan without our help...

Thank you OWCguy for enlightening us further. The following two links shed more light:

http://www.visitpwc.com/boardofdirectors.html

http://www.lazysusan.com/events0.htm

This seems to be how PWC functions. Get on a board or pretend to be a non-profit and line your pockets at the taxpayers' expense.

THe CVB has tried to not advertise for the Lazy Susan, but a BOS appointee to the CVB Board works for the Lazy Susan!!!! Contact your BOS about this waste of PWC money adverstising Fairfax County businesses. CVB can only do what its Board directs it to do, and that Board is appointed by your BOS.

I guess I was wrong. It is just north of the river. Maybe we could lasso it and bring it on over to PWC.

So what's your point, Mr. Young? Is there a "penumbral" area we should be subsidizing?

Mostly a pretty good video promoting Manassas Battlefield, Old Town, Marine Corps Museum, etc. However, I share your concern about promoting a Fairfax County restaurant. I don’t like the idea of taxpayer dollars being used to promote any private business but can understand making an exception for something like Nissan Pavilion or Potomac Mills. Both generate a lot of visits from outside PWC/Manassas and bring in tourism spending. The Lazy Susan, however, could have gotten in this video only through preferential treatment at the expense of other private eateries. As Greg wrote, it is in Fairfax County. Under no circumstances should PWC/Manassas taxpayers be funding promotion of ANYTHING outside our area. Even if Lazy Susan were in PWC/Manassas it does not fall into the same attractions category as Nissan Pavilion or Potomac Mills. Should taxpayers have to promote any restaurants that have some pull over the use of County/City funds?

Who produced this video and how much did it cost? We need to know who is responsible for using our tax dollars to promote a Fairfax County restaurant. Did the CVB produce it and did they use County resources, or did they hire contractors? Taxpayers are already paying a bundle for video production resources for Channel 23. What was the bidding process and how can the public view the requests for proposal, and winning bid? Do we need to file a FOIA to find out or is there someone we can just call?

Again, we’re funding Fairfax County private enterprises. Last, we heard about PWC/Manassas taxpayer money going to Mark Wolfe’s Manassas Ballet, largely to subsidize his dance school that competes with other private dance schools (and who pay their taxes) and to help him pay $34,000 to friends who run an orchestra in Annandale (Dominion Symphony Orchestra). The IRS revoked Dominion Symphony Orchestra’s (aka Little River Symphony) status as a public charity in 2005. Since 2005, the IRS has considered them a private foundation. Now, PWC/Manassas taxpayers are not only paying for the services of an Annandale orchestra that even the IRS considers a private entity, but to promote a private business (a restaurant) in Fairfax County. Another job for the independent auditors!
