Connolly In The Crosshairs

Right after the Democrats get spanked in Virginia and New Jersey, the Congress decides now is the time to bring up a health care bill that specifically includes providing care for illegal aliens, and Pelosi lapdogs like Gerry Connolly are squarely sitting in ground-zero in the fight raging today. Have these people gone absolutely nuts?
“I would find it extremely difficult to vote for any measure that denies undocumented workers health care,” said Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez, Illinois Democrat.
I guess House Democrats just don’t want to be re-elected in 2010. If Gerry Connolly votes for this monstrosity he has utterly sealed his political doom. On Tuesday his district voted 55%-45% for Bob McDonnell, sending a pretty clear message that voters don’t like the idea of tax hikes, today’s Washington-style politics, and saddling taxpayers with the costs of providing free or subsidized health care for illegal aliens. A vote for this would be extremely harmful to his political career, to say the least.
I almost hope Connolly sticks with Pelosi, as he usually does, and votes for this outrage. It will be a real pleasure to take Rep. Gutierrez’s description of what this bill does and hang it around his neck when he runs against Keith Fimian next year. Pelosi can’t allow language barring taxpayer-supported healthcare for illegal aliens without losing the support of the 22 member Hispanic Caucus, but without that language a number of Democrats would get into deep trouble with the voters if they supported a bill that gives taxpayer freebies to illegals. In order to keep the Hispanic Caucus satisfied and not see a revolt from other Democrats, there’s going to be a lot of arm-twisting and giveaways to folks like Connolly who Pelosi desperately needs to keep in line if this is going to pass.
What it comes down to is whether Connolly represents his constituents, or Nancy Pelosi. There’s no way to explain away this 2,000 page re-vamped health care bill that contains numerous provisions which are patently offensive to the electorate, but it’s going to be very difficult for Connolly to break with the speaker and lose the perks that come with being her loyal foot soldier.
We’ll see. Either this health care monstrosity dies in the House, or Connolly paints a big fat target on his chest one year out from the next election.
Here’s a nice graphic of what the new bill looked like when it was unveiled recently. On the left is HR 3200 which died under massive protests. On the right is the new bill, which managed to get even more complex, more unwieldy, and certainly more expensive. The new bill has gotten even larger since then, topping 2,030 2,200 pages of “improvements”.

Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi’s 2,032-page government takeover of health care does just that. On line 17, p. 110, section 222 under “Abortions for which Public Funding is Allowed” the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run plan. The Speaker’s plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange covers abortions.
What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be charged of all enrollees in the government-run plan. It’s right there on line 16, page 96, section 213, under “Insurance Rating Rules.” The premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account - and these federal funds will be used to pay for the abortion services.

Apparently all HELL is breaking loose in the halls of Congress! Everyone that was at the rally are now walking the halls.
As soon as I confirm that it was Connolly I will tell you what happened to a small 4′8” woman.
I would advise all constiuents to send a message to Connolly. His staffers may get the meaning, and “s’plain the sitiation” to Gerry. Try sending something like this:
Your support for this legislation will result in my working to defeat your re-election. I will fund your opponents in primary and general elections. Additionally, I will contribute my time to your opponents campaigns.
Perhaps you will find the courage to not rubber stamp this attempt to give government control of all aspects of our health care system. I don’t want you, my representative to vote in favor of this abomination.

Has anybody thought deeply about the consequences of another illegal immigrant amnesty? Let’s forget for the moment that suddenly 20 to 30 million people are going to be legalized? That Sanctuary states like California, New Mexico have been financially ridden hard into the ground, because illegal workers and their families are feeding at a gold mine at the taxpayer expense. Let’s not mention that since the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli bill, those made legal, was able to bring into the United States their extended family members. That although they signed an affidavit to support those, many ended up at the taxpayer’s expense. So let’s ignore the expenditures to educate, free health care treatment and all the rest of hidden costs of subsidizing a large portion of the US population. The fact that the businesses that draw them here, from every corner of the world–PAYS NOTHING TOWARDS THEIR UPKEEP. IT’S FREE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES FOR PARIAH BUSINESS, BETTER KNOWN AS CORPORATE WELFARE? Every one of the Democratic leadership have used their influence to weaken E-Verify, county police fed program 287 (g) and ICE raids on businesses.
So president Obama bypasses the masses the hard pressed American, who have entreated him–NO BLANKET AMNESTY! No path to citizenship! So the millions already here get a free ride to your pensions, social security, public option health care welfare. Who in the world is going to pay for all these legalized individual, followed by the onslaught of millions more looking for free health care? NOW HERE COMES THE FIRESTORM! Have we taken leave of our senses, to think for one moment that another amnesty which is in the works? That a single layer fence is going to hold back millions upon millions more people will–COME? This will not be small meandering lines of illegal aliens, crossing the border during the hours of darkness? This is going to be an unimaginably rush at a defenseless 9.000 border patrol agents, that is–Expected?–to hold at bay those who reach our border? Not even the National Guard and regular GI’s could stop the wave upon wave? They will sweep in from El-Salvador, Columbia, Guatemala, Peru, Chile and of course Mexico. They will arrive from Canada, Ireland, Poland and Romania by plane clutching a tourist visa.
Every corner of the world will hear the resounding trumpet call of Osama’s AMNESTY. Chinese immigrants with tourist visas will fly into Mexico City and perhaps terrorists smuggled in by M 13 gang members? Not just the poor, but the sick, mentally handicapped along with criminals, absconding from the arm of the law across this planet. NOW THE MOST URGENT QUESTION IS? WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR ALL THIS? We are already swallowing the massive funding for Iraq and Afghanistan. We cannot even find jobs for hapless 15 million American workers, who (if true) are joining day-laborers at Home Depot, Walmart, and Lowe’s parking lots? So who is going to house, feed and pay-out–more strained US taxpayer money? Perhaps we should send families of illegal aliens to squat in Sen. Harry Reid’s gated home in Nevada. Send another crowd to live in House Speakers Nancy Pelosi’s grape plantations in Central California. How about Chuck Schumer, HS Chief Janet Napolitano, Joe Biden, Diane Feinstein, Gil Cedillo leaving their house key under the mat, for some large family from Indonesia, India to find?
Let’s give them free bus fare to each and every politician with a lousy immigration grading, such as Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) or the whole Sacramento Liberal Marxist assembly, who have sold bona-fide legal Angelino’s into state insolvency? Why not have them live-in at every ACLU office and their communist lawyers so they could feed them. Every pro-illegal immigrant Chamber of Commerce member could open a spare room and settle some family members, until more brothers and sisters could be sponsored and join them. The Catholic Church and other religious groups could welcome them at the church doors and distribute money from the plate? The minority of Evangelicals churches could open up the rectory, accommodating hundreds of cots from the tired and poverty stricken. All the anti-sovereignty lawmakers should have plenty of room in their Virginia mansions, their custom ranches for large numbers of impoverished families. Even the President has that large White structure–could exhibit some kindness to homeless families and FEMA could establish a tent city in the grounds? Any of the House and Senate who compromised illegal immigration enforcement, should announce their address for resettlement of people who just run the gauntlet at the under funded border fence.
Let’s face it these people who call us names such as xenophobes bigots and worse, adding ugly cuss words to their vocabulary should also open their doors to anybody who enters America illegally. Microsoft multi-billionaire Bill Gates and the thousands of businesses that don’t incur a darn cent should bring these family members together in their giant homes. Corporate owners who have colluded with State governors, Mayors, Judges and other lower echelon officials, should participate with a welcome mat. Perhaps American workers should obtain a hard copy list of every unpatriotic American and give illegal matriarch a page of addresses for their extended illegal families? We have San Francisco’s mayor Galvin Newsom and Los Angeles Antonio R.Villaraigosa and all the other–SANCTUARY CITIES AND STATES who have completely ignore federal laws, can also give refuge in their abodes to incorrigible
gang members who have killed without conscience, illiterate drunk laborers who have slaughtered families on our streets, because they could comprehend English warning signs.
Then just picture the traffic chaos in every corner of America, unless you live in an isolated ranch in the Mohave Desert, in California. We think we have road rage now, but give it a few weeks after unfettered AMNESTY. I even have a better idea. Open America’s doors completely? No Ellis Island, Galveston Island. No documents, no inspections. NO NOTHING. Give everybody a bus ticket of their choosing, to where they wish to go? See how long the open border zealots put up with that progressive rush to overpopulation. IF you have changes of heart give a tongue-lashing to your legislators at 202-224-3121 in Washington. The next 100 million will suffocate our ability to maintain water, energy, food, communication, infrastructure and a balanced environment.
If fetuses aren’t people, why are multiple murder charges filed when a pregnant woman is killed? If you assault a pregnant woman and cause her to miscarry, why would you be charged with the fetus’ death? Why is it legal for the “mother” and the abortionist but murder for anyone else? It’s just tissue, it’s not a person.
Here’s hoping Connolly is committing political suicide! Mr. McNamara, your very existence is undoubtedly a strong argument for abortion, to be sure, but to advise others to “get a clue”. This is what is known as an “argument from ignorance”.

I don’t think hoping our weak congressional rep (GC) will commit political suicide is where we really want to go. If this monstrous health bill is “pushed” through by radicals, it could take decades to recover. Better to encourage the weak ones to fear their political future, so that they do not support; then vote them out later.
The “push” will come from the leftists, with the help of political promises and corruption in the form of cash payments to cronies from the federal stimulus funds. Have you wondered where the rest of the stimulus money will go? Weak congressional reps, such as GC, are prime targets to be bought, with this kind of pressure.
Socialized medicine is the holy grail of the left, and it is in their sight. . .

I was at the rally today. It was inspiring. Some of us went straight for the Russell Building since our rep, Frank Wolf is voting against the bill…we figured our time would be better spent chasing Warner & Webb. Of course, neither were at their offices but we signed the “guest register” and let them know why we were there. Some of Webb’s staffers tried to hold a “conference” of sorts and answer questions posed by the growing number of “housecall” participants that continued to file into the already crowded conference room adjacent to Webb’s office. Rhetoric and double talk was shot down at every turn. The mood today was clearly “fed up”. People are angry and they’re scared. I’m one of them. My mom is 80 yrs old and in great shape. Both of her parents lived to their upper 90s and in pretty good health aside from the death thing. It hurts me to know that just because of her age, she’ll receive a totally different level of healthcare than she gets now, based not on her condition or quality of life but based on what her age “qualifies” her to receive. What a load of crap! Eventually, I’ll be subject to the same treatment, we all will. And now, Blinky Pelosi won’t be making the bill available for review afterall. There goes that transparency again. Of course, that also means that many of those who will be voting on it won’t have read it either (surprise surprise). Well…Nancy said she was going to “drain the swamp”, didn’t she? If the dems shove this Obamacare through, then they will have “pulled the plug” on themselves and I can only hope that Queen Nancy will be the first one down the drain. In the meantime folks, remember to flush twice…it’s a long way to Capitol Hill
Hey Pete….call me clueless but I have to wonder what it was that made PLANNED PARENTHOOD DIRECTOR, Abby Johnson, resign after watching the ultrasound of an abortion procedure. What was it she saw? A baby? A puppy? Gerry Connelly?
Now she describes herself as being “free” of the guilt that once weighed heavy on her heart, since she’s no longer killing “tissue globs” anymore. Really, Pete, we’re all just globs of tissue when it gets right down to it. Some globs of tissue are more developed than others. Some globs of tissue actually hold public office, voted in, of course, by less intelligent globs. But when DOES life begin Pete? Apparently you have the missing clue as you stated in your first post. At birth? When is that? What if you’re a “preemie” and they have to go in and get you and, lets say the surgery is scheduled for 2:00pm. Does that mean at 2:00pm, you’re only a fetus but at, say…2:15pm you ARE a baby? Or does it start before that?
Many cultures begin instructing babies while they’re still in the womb. They talk to them, exposed them to music, math all kinds of neat things only to find that these babies, once born (legitimized), show special aptitude for the subjects to which they were exposed in the womb. Who are these parents teaching this stuff too? Globs of tissue? With ears? Are they “people” before or after they grow ears?
Its amazing how quickly these little globs of tissue begin to take human form. See, most of the time, women don’t go for an abortion until they suspect that they’re pregnant. This can be anywhere from a month to a couple of months at which point there is considerable development, certainly enough to creep me out even thinking about it. But that’s MY opinion and you are certainly entitled to your opinion as well. I just wish that those who call themselves “pro-choice” would be just that “pro CHOICE”. They can have their “safe & legal” abortion. I won’t stand in their way. That is their choice. Just don’t stand in the way of MY choice to be Pro-Life by forcing ME to pay for YOUR abortion with my tax dollars. This MY choice. THAT is truly a pro choice position. Sound fair to you Pete?

Two things for that bonehead Pete: (1) funny how everyone who supports abortion has already been born. (2) Between weeks 4 and 10 is when a fetus is developing his organs. By week 10 of gestation, the fetus already has his major organs and systems, including his brain and central nervous system, being able to sense changes in his environment in the uterus including pain.

The most primitive part of the brain, the brain stem, is developed by 7 weeks gestation (which is technically 5 weeks of development since the counting begins at the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period, and she isn’t usually ovulating until approximately 2 weeks after that date). The brain stem controls the most basic life functions (breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, etc) and reactions to stimulus (startling, crying, suckling).
Many women don’t know they’re pregnant until around week 6 (sometimes even a little later). By the time a woman decides to have an abortion, the child already has a functioning, developing brain and CAN feel pain.

Committee Confirms: Comply With Pelosi-Care Or Go To Jail
Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.
When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.
