Once again, President Obama demonstrates his deep love and profound respect for the United States of America in this photo taken yesterday. He actually stood up for the National Anthem, and didn’t fidget once.
Meanwhile, Dictator Hugo Chavez of Venzuela behaves a bit differently in similar circumstances. Maybe Obama should set him straight or something.

H/T: Charles.

All I can say is, when “political correctness” TRUMPS honesty, we’re ALL in BIG trouble!
Just look at D.C., Detroit, Newark, etc.
OOPS! I went and got HONEST.
In reference to the “1st lady,” does anyone know whether or not her eyebrows are TATOOED in the form of a PERMANENT SCOWL?
OOPS! I did it AGAIN.
Is there a video of Obama not honoring the National Anthem during this photo, or was this a shot just before or after?
How about this single finger “salute” to America from Obama:

You sure the photo was taken yesterday? The Navy guy is wearing whites. But yeah, Obama is an ass.
Video of Obama honoring Islam:

I was taught as a Boy Scout that when the anthem is played, you stand. If you are in uniform, you salute. If you are in civvies, you remove any headgear and place your hand over your heart. How does he not get this? Have you ever watched him return the salutes of the Marines around him? I bet that only happens when the cameras are on. This figurehead is the product of liberalism at it’s finest, right from the moment of conception. Raise your children to be American citizens, folks, or there won’t be an America.
Based on who he’s hung around with all his life, he’s a hater of America and all she stands for.
Not surprised….on a week where I’ve experienced a Congressional vote that takes so many of my Constitutional rights away, then wake up this morning to see that Obama will now give Constitutional rights to terrorists, while reveling in taking them away from US citizens.
What’s the provenance of this photo (to provide context)?
In civilian attire, one MAY place the hand over the heart. That is an option.
Ronald Reagan sometimes saluted military members while he was greeting them, and when entering or exiting Air Force One. When observing the Anthem, he generally placed a hand over his heart. Other presidents have done likewise, while some merely stood at attention.
The photo of Obama shows his hands clasped in front of him. Other shots of him show his hands at his side.
This is a stupid attack on President Obama, when there are so many other issues that warrant legitimate criticism, such as:
1. Make the decision to leave Iraq and Afghanistan.
2. Repeal the Patriot Act and reign-in the un-Constitutional domestic operations of our federal intelligence agencies.
3. Conduct a real investigation into the Bush regime’s creation of the Department of Justice, Enemies of the State, list (see DOJ Audit 9-25, May 2009). How were people put on the list and how shall those erroneously named without cause or trial, clear their names?
That would be a good start. Or, we could draw mustaches on photos while the Republic perishes before our eyes.
Why does Obama always have his hands on his junk when the National Anthem is played?
The enemy are inside the wires folks.
BASTARD!
Word, Slick.
Insulting! How can his actions be something we can be proud of? Wonder if this is what Michelle was talking about when she said she is now proud of her country?
Technically it is not protocol for civilians to place their hands over their heart during the National Anthem, the pledge is a different story. Calm down people…..lets attack on legit points…..not grasp at straws…..
Here is another example of why obama is an idiot.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/11/obama-emperor-akihito-japan.html
Local GOP: technically you are incorrect if you read the United States Flag Code code you will see what is protocol
§170. National anthem; Star-Spangled Banner
The composition consisting of the words and music known as The Star-Spangled Banner is designated the national anthem of the United States of America.
§171. Conduct during playing
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.
So Obama is a protocol blunder dufus.

If only it was his only failing.
Any questions?
I lived in Japan for 2 years and worked at the Japanese embassy in D.C. for 4 years. The Japanese will LOVE this - they will really feel deeply honored by this obsequious bow from a president of the United States. It also unfortunately implies that the U.S. and Japan are not PARTNERS in the world. Sad to say, but it may by ever-increasing degrees reflect the true nature of our deepening dependence on foreign money.
The Question (responding to Any questions…) is why do we object to our President being polite in a foreign country?
Agree with CharacterCountsKris. I lived in Japan for seven years. I find a transition from our “traditional” arrogance and lack of humility to one of mutual respect (you will notice the Emperor is shaking the President’s hand) to be the right Diplomatic track. While neocons live in our past glory, realists realize that we are really nothing more than a declining debtor nation mired in two wars of dubious origens and beholding to foreign powers such as China, Japan, the EU, and emerging markets for our future. They loan us the money to keep us afloat in spite of our historic national debt (thanks to Bush’s inept fiscal policies and failure to regulate the Financial industry) and have the markets to help us survive (since we depend on foreign exports for what we grow and make). If they ever cut us off or decide to dump dollars in favor of the Euro (I assume you know the value of the $ these days - again, thanks to Bush), we’re “toast”.
Yes, I’m expecting to get “flamed” rather than receive any rational responses. Adjusting to our new position in the world order is harder on some more than others. I rather like the fact that the rest of the world is starting to respect us as principled people once again.
Before the “flaming” begins, I should add that the Emperor of Japan is regarded as a Deity of diving origins and is the head of the Shinto religion. Bowing to him as a sign of respect is analogous to a President kneeling for a blessing from the Pope or the Archbishop of Canterbury. Does anyone object to that?
The people of Japan (like I said, I lived there for seven years) will truly respect our President for recognizing the “Mikado’s” role in their society and showing proper respect (I’m sure the State Department briefed him on the appropriate protocol for this religious figure).
These “out of context” moments don’t really add anything to a discussions about Obama’s policys (some which I agree with, some which I don’t).
diving = divine in my last post… darn spell checker
Well, no kidding, Independent! You’ve finally reached an all time low….so it’s
Bush’s fault that Obama’s bad manners give the entire world a good laugh!
Most of us realize that Obama is a product of Chicago thuggery and ergo, not
much class is expected, so try backing off of Bush for a while.
Independant,
What is getting to people, is obama has not had any problems bashing America while overseas. He is doing this because he believes it and because of the far left on his own party, who see a weaker America being better for the World. Do you see any foreign leaders coming here and bashing their own Countries? Of course not.
He sees America as an equal with the rest of the World. We are not equal with the rest of the World. There a reason why millions have come here and not gone to places like China, India, etc. Yet, obama sees it as his duty to bash us.
Add his bow to the King of Saudia Arabia, his goofy gifts to Foreign Head of States, obama simply is over his head as President.
BTW, obama has done nothing to cut the debt or the deficite and in fact it has surged since he has been in office. And, he keeps spending. Wait until the health care bill kicks in, and amnesty, and cap and trade, etc.
Obama is on an official Asian policy tour representing the United States of America.
Barack Obama - private citizen on his own time and dime - can slither around on his belly barking like a seal for all I care.
Why is the son of Hirohito smiling? The POTUS just surrendered.

Say, think or do anything you like.
Many of you see America’s first BLACK president, I see America’s first ARAB president!
Barak HUSSEIN Obama
He travels around the world, SELLING US OUT!!!!!
Kevin, once again, you hit the nail on the head! I couldn’t agree more.
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/15/japan-expert-to-abc-yes-obamas-bow-made-him-look-like-an-idiot/
All I can think of when I read this stuff is the Dixie Chicks…
Why am I thinking, if you don’t BOW DOWN (low) to the Emperor you don’t get to see and, better yet, help yourself to the GIANT room FULL OF CASH?
I remember hearing about a Japanese politician who was so corrput (even MORE corrupt that American politicians, if that’s possible) he had to wheel his CASH out in TWO shopping carts!
In his defense, it was probably YEN!

HAHA….that is, if you were trying to be funny. If you were trying to be serious, then you are living in la-la land.

I agree…no more bowing Obama and no holding hands like that Bush fella did.
Man up, show some machismo, and not maricons.
“Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.”
Obama won’t cover his heart because that would insinuate that he actually has one.
As for bowing to the Japanese emperor, at least THIS time he could more easily claim it was because the man was so much shorter than him.

Seriously, how hard is it to hire a cultural attache that might give you some insight as to the proper greeting protocol for other heads of state, etc? We’re paying more than enough taxes to cover the salary for someone like that…
BO, just another illegal alien who hasn’t assimilated.
