Does anybody get the feeling that Herrity is just doing a Tom Davis....floating his name out there to see if he can get a primary? I'm pretty sure he knows he can't get nominated in a convention and this dance is all about gauging where he stands if he can influence the party to choose the primary over a convention.

Well, if not talking to people in the party was a fault in the past, I think Keith has got that worked out now. At Cantor's hospitality suite at the Advance he has a poster up promoting Fimian as part of his "Young Guns" which wouldn't happen without coordination. Seeing that Fimian has a bunch of important endorsements even before anyone talks about a nominating method and the open support of the House Minority Whip, I figure Fimian has learned a lot from his last run.

I think it also shows how the Republican Party has in general gotten it's act together as well. In 2008 the congressional races all over were a real mess. This time around, I'm seeing a real strategy being played and an early effort to support challengers for 2010.

It should be a very different election cycle now that we've pruned off the RINO dead wood from the top of the ticket...

I get the feeling that Pat himself wants to run for Chairman, but his people want him to run for Congress. Fimian's problem within the party his his tendency to go it alone, oftentimes not talking to people within the party. That was part of the problem in 2008, he did things his way and wouldn't listen to anybody.

And for me, if it comes down to Keith vs. Pat I'm with Keith right now. But I think the two would work something out, I highly doubt someone as interested in party unity as Pat Herrity would do something like this that would lead to a primary.
