Steve Hunt Gets VCDL Nod

By Greg L | 3 January 2010 | Fairfax County, Virginia Senate | 5 Comments

The Virginia Citizens Defense League PAC has issued a very strong endorsement for Steve Hunt over Dave Marsden this evening, alerting thousands of gun owners in the Commonwealth that Dave Marsden didn’t even bother to answer the VCDL issues survey.  If you’re excited about the strong pro-Second Amendment bills already pre-filed for this session of the General Assembly and want to ensure they have a good shot at passing, there’s no better use of your time and resources than to ensure that Steve Hunt gets elected in the 37th District rather than someone who has (unsurprisingly) thumbed his nose at gun owners.  The Senate of Virginia is the battleground for these bills, and every vote there counts.

Here’s the endorsement, that leaves little to imagine about Steve Hunt’s views on protecting our civil rights:

The VCDL-PAC STRONGLY endorses Steve Hunt for election to Ken Cuccinelli’s former Virginia Senate seat in the 37th District. Get out and VOTE Tuesday, January 12 in the Special Election. Get INVOLVED today by calling his campaign to ask how you can volunteer and join this final push to keep this critical Senate seat pro-gun. Steve’s votes in the Senate will benefit you wherever you live in Virginia.

With many major gun bills, both good and bad, coming up for vote this January we MUST send a message to the General Assembly that your rights aren’t negotiable.

Steve Hunt is a long time and outstanding supporter of Virginians’ right to keep and bear arms. He has reached out to VCDL members by attending and speaking at multiple meetings, and he has returned his VCDL survey STRONGLY pro-gun.

It should be noted that his opponent has refused to answer the VCDL Candidate Survey.

Steve’s campaign is organizing a final 12 day sprint and massive voter mobilization in order to defend and win the Senate seat. This is an important opportunity for YOU to make a REAL DIFFERENCE. Steve is organizing a 72-hour task force for next weekend and has other efforts we can help with. With our many super-motivated grassroots members from all over the state, VCDL-PAC can have a significant positive impact on this race, the upcoming Senate, and the future of our gun rights in Virginia.

Call and email friends, family, coworkers, and fellow voters in the district. Volunteer for next weekend and DONATE funds for this effort directly to the campaign at http://tinyurl.com/yb9e8lq

You can help Steve Hunt by:

  • Making phone calls from home - email tedson@stevehunt.org and they will send a list of voters to call and a script.
  • If you live in Fairfax or Northern Virginia and want to help, they have phone banks running from 10am to 8pm, January 7-January 11, from their office at 4246 Chain Bridge Rd in Fairfax. This is also a staging location for canvassers. From there walk lists and literature can be picked up.
  • They still need people to work the polls on Election Day handing out literature and working inside observing

This is good news. As long as people remember to show up on election day Steve should be able to win this one.

You may want to read the following link concerning concealed carry.

I can respect the officer wanting to protect himself but I hope jumping out of the car waving the gun around isn’t standard procedure. I can imagine what would happen if the officer was not in uniform. I know some very fast and very accurate citizens and a gun to the face is a immediate threat, who’s holding it is secondary.

I was stopped years ago by VSP while armed and they were very professional in the way they handled it. Or maybe I didn’t look threatening. Hmmmmm…

Getting the VCDL “nod” and about five bucks will get you some coffee at Starbucks.

For people interested in their second amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution and their Article I section 13 rights under the Virginia State Constitution the VCDL endorsement will mean something.

As for Dave Marsden, his record on guns indicates “anti” and that goes for his record on pickup trucks as well.

It would seem that CCW permit holder needs further instruction on the how to carry concealed.

Don’t expect too much from our courts. It would seem that some still can’t get their mind around the second amendment after 220 plus years.

All Virginians would benefit with a uniform understanding of the CCW permit laws by all citizens AND local law enforcement. Currently if you ask any three citizens and any three law enforcement officers what is the law concerning CCW permit holders you will generally get six different responses containing conflicting and often incorrect information.

It’s not complex at all. Really, it’s not.
