Well, at least that money is going to a certified Obama constituency. That's all that matters, right?

Prince William County educators received 25 million in federal stimulus funds in 2009. That was sufficient funding to provide a pay raise for the entire county employees of ~ 3%. While the county board of ed does not attribute this funding source as providing the funds for the pay raise, it is painfully obvious that federal stimulus funds made the pay raise possible. Fact, without the federal stimulus funds, there would not have been a teacher pay raise in Prince William County.

While our hardworking teachers do deserve a good salary, this use of federal stimulus money is outrageous. Oh, by the way, Prince William is also to receive another 25 million in federal stimulus funds for the next school year too. Looks like our teachers will be getting another pay raise thanks to good ol' Uncle Sam's ability to print money.

Problem, the county (actually only the county taxpayers) will need to fund this federally boosted salary inflation in future years. Do you care?

Ugh. In Loudoun County the Chairman of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee got a job doling out stimulus funds from the Department of Energy even though he has no experience in that field. This money then went to fund a bogus energy plan sole-sourced to a special consultant for $250k, said plan that sets up that consultant and his "strategic partners" for $2 million more in stimulus fund work. And of course this is all while the supervisor guiding that plan through the county had a job as Executive Director of the Climate Prosperity Project, which is tied in with the Clinton Global Initiative. Nice work when you can get it! Change is certainly working out very well for the properly connected, isn't it?
