Virtucon: Prosecute Dave Marsden For Election Fraud

A number of Republican candidates have been prosecuted over the years for carpetbagging into a district and not actually establishing the residency required under the law in order to qualify as a candidate. Tonight Riley over at Virtucon demands the same standards now be applied to Democrats.
Dave Marsden is a liberal partisan Democrat who deserves to be beaten alone on the merits by the superior candidate Steve Hunt. But this just takes the cake. At least the other carpet-bagging candidates mentioned in the Post article actually moved their families with them to new places before they were soundly beaten. This, however, is such a blatantly fraudulent scheme that it deserves to be prosecuted.
I’m holding my breath. Really. If a Democrat Commonwealth’s Attorney actually indicted a fellow Democrat for election fraud I’d be positively stunned.

What if a private investigator has been following Dave Marsden and has collected sufficient evidence to indicate Dave does not really live, eat, sleep, shower, or shave at his “rented” residence in the 37th? Wonder what the standard is for proving residency? What does the law actually say? Any lawyers out there care to comment?
Dave Marsden is winning and all the Republican side can do is rely on their favorite tactic; the smear.
Everyone knows Dave Marsden has complied with the election law as it pertains to residence. He has been quite open about that.
Dave Marsden, a former Republican who still maintains a great working relationship across Party boundaries has a long record of constructive bi-partisanship; the sort of constructive team work in our Assembly that Virginians prefer.
This election should be about how our new Governor plans to return TOLL ROADS to our existing Virginia roads and how the Republican challenger will be a rubber stamp for Mr. McDonnell’s stupid plan.
Virginians of every political background need to send a clear message to the McD Administration. Say NO! to TOLL ROADS, by voting against the Republican candidates in the 37th District and 8th District races.

Speaking of which, what ever happened to Paul Ebert calling for a “special prosecutor” to investigate Rich Anderson for EXPOSING Nickles for the LOWLIFE THUG he is (arrested for ASSAULT on a Police Officer)?
At the very least, Ebert should be FORCED to admit to the fact that it was nothing more than a POLITICAL STUNT !!!!!
If Ebert, who was ARRESTED, himself, for “overfishing” in Chesapeake Bay a while back was HONEST, he would have recused himself !
Like I said if, and that’s a BIG IF, he was HONEST!

JTB, you are certifiable.
Marsden is NOT winning. Only a fool would believe that to be the case.
Marsden has NOT complied with election law as pertains to his residence. Read yesterday’s WashPo article and you’ll see very clearly that is the case. Sleeping in a guest room does not necessarily establish all the necessary elements. The fact that his family does not live with him (and in fact his wife can’t even vote for him on Tue.) and he goes to his “former” residence daily to visit them and pick up his mail according to his own campaign manager shows that he does not intend to make his rented room his primary residence.
If Marsden is so bipartisan, why is he attacking Gov.-elect McDonnell at every chance he gets?
Given recent history of such prosecutions for election fraud in NOVA, Marsden is a ripe target to be indicted, prosecuted and indeed convicted. Not only will he lose on Tue., but chances are that his House seat may soon be open once he is a convicted felon.
Doc, head on over to Virtucon via the link and you’ll see what the standards are. Marsden obviously does not intend to make his rented room his “primary residence” as state election officials view the requirements to be. If he did, he would have moved his family and had his mail forwarded to the new address. Steve Chapman was indicted for something exactly along these same lines and it was more believable that he actually made that rented room his primary residence.
Does anyone really expect the Democratic Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney to do anything about this??? Yet another reason why Virginia needs an independent statewide special prosecutor for investigating and prosecuting political crimes.
They could have used a special prosecutor in Loudoun when Holtzman-Vogel was pulling those shenanigans on Tate during the State Senate primary. She got away clean on that one. Clean is an ironic word to use in connection with such a dirty politician.
I guess her philosophy is similar to Al Davis. “Just win, baby!”

What floors me is the arrogance of the guy to be so open about essentially telling the voters, “I only want to live among you people if you elect me as State Senator, and if you people won’t do that for me then screw you.”
With that kind of arrogance and disdain for the people he claims to want to represent, just think how he’ll treat constituents who come to him with complaints. He’s bringing the Federal Government disdain for “the little people” to the State Government.

The guy tries to work both sides and can’t figure out where he’s coming from (literally… as evidenced by his rent-a-room opportunism), and has no conscience or core convictions. The only thing bipartisan about the guy is he’s not trusted or respected by members of BOTH parties.
Someone COULD get a Writ of Mandamus from a court to compel the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney to investigate and prosecute Marsden.
Good luck! I’ve just about given up hope that we’ll ever see real non-partisan enforcement of anything political in this state.
C’mon, Riley! You know better than that! One could try, and fail miserably. Writs of mandamus are only issued for nondiscretionary acts, and unless you know something about Virginia law that I don’t, prosecutors here have unreviewable discretion on prosecutorial decisions.

So, at two months a fetus is not a person on one issue, life. But, on lifestyle, it is used as a defense of homosexual behavior being predestined.
Can you please square that up for me J. Tyler? Then maybe someone will begin to take you seriously. Or maybe you can just find someone else to support who is not so confused thus, adding to your own confusion.
If this election were decided on the number of candidate yard signs on PRIVATE yards (as opposed to being in the highway median), Hunt wins with 99+% of the vote.
