According to SBE, Colgan lives at 14206 Vint Hill Rd, Nokesville VA 20181. Now that house is occupied by renters who see him once a week when he picks up his mail, and they seem to think he lives in Fauquier County, I’m told.

Now why would people who send him a check every month think he lives in another county, and outside the 29th District?

I’d like to know."

As a long time PWC conservative I am sick and tired of the BS slung towards Sen. Colgan. This site is losing its appeal due to items such as this. Not all democrats are the enemy and not all conservatives are the good guys. I don't follow Sen. Colgan around to see where he lives but I do know for a fact that he lived in Westgate for many many years. For you to post this Greg (and they seem to think he lives in Fauquier County, I’m told) is wrong and speculative. get your facts straight before posting what you know little about. I'd like to see the republicans win the majority back in the senate and get rid of some of the dems but not at the expense of slinging BS. The overall hardcore die hards here can be a little overwhelming and will likely hurt our chances.

Haven't you moved in the last 40 years, Fed Up? It's almost impossible to get the Post Office to effect a change of address request. Periodicals, etc., take about 6 months to change. Not that I'm defending the guy, but geez, get on his back about his ineffective tenure in the GA, not about where his mail goes.

I have a question.
If Colgan lives behind Wegman's in Gainesville, then why not have his mail sent to that address?
Why is he having his mail sent to the Vint Hill address - where he is seen picking it up????
sure sounds funny to me....

While parts of his district degenerated into slums more typical of Matamoras or Tijuana than Prince William County, Senator Colgan did absolutely nothing about it, Colleen. He did not even try. In fact, he tried to deflect pleas for help by claiming the illegal inhabitants of his district were actually refugees from war and storms, and not the fence-jumping societal rejects that they really are. Regardless of where he lives, hangs his hat, lies in bed, or does other personal stuff, the man is not a respectable statesman, and I have doubts about his honesty as well, based upon the refugee representation. But you've got a point.

YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS. SENATOR COLGAN LIVES IN GAINESVILLE WITHIN HIS DISTRICT.

DO YOU JUST LAY IN BED AT NIGHT AND TRY TO THINK ABOUT FALSEHOODS ABOUT SENATOR COLGAN. HE IS AN HONEST RESPECTIBLE STATESMAN!

GET IT RIGHT BEFORE YOU WRITE!

Owning a house doesn't establish residency. I'm hearing that Colgan may, let me repeat that, may, be residing in Fauquier County now. I'm still running down the information and will update this post when there is additional information available.

Kevin C., my name is not important I doubt Credo is a real name most people on here don't publsih their real names in the interest of privacy. I like my privacy.

Greg is claiming election fraud and that Senator Colgan lives in Fauquier County. I presented the facts and Greg has remained silent. You can look up the street name in the Prince Willaim County Tax Assessment system and see he bought the house in 2008..

I hope there's a GOP observer at Marsden's precinct. He/She should challenge Marsden as a qualified voter right on the spot when Marsden shows up to vote.

The House is Currently unoccupied and it was a Corporate Rental the people who did live there actually saw Senator Colgan every day as they worked for the Pinnacle Airline, the company which bought Colgan Air. The company moved the before the first of the year and the Vint Hill House is now unoccupied. For the record the people living there never sent a check the company did.

He and his wife own a home and live on Tysons Oaks in Gainesville.

Now why would people who send him a check every month think he lives in another county, and outside the 29th District?

We needn't blame the candidates who are in compliance with the law.

Both these and other members maintain a residence in their District. Mr. Marsden and Mr. Colgan would not be the first to have multiple addresses.

Richmond's recent mayor, Doug Wilder rented a small place in town, but everyone knew he actually lived deep into the burbs.

The right solution is to tighten-up the law so that an elected official must maintain their primary residence in their District. I would also add that anyone who wished to run for office must have their PRIMARY residence established in the District for at least two years, before becoming eligible to run for an office representing that District. If an elected official should move during the elected term of office, then the seat must be forfeit.

There is little point in complaining about the law, we must work together to change it. Only then shall these rather odd meanderings of candidates and elected officials cease.

I must also add that with bi-partisan campaign finance reform, we could dramatically make running for office more affordable and strengthen the representative relationship between the residents of a District and their Assemblyman.
********************************************************

If we want the voices of the citizens of each district to again be heard by elected officials, we must take the following steps:

1. Restrict contributions to come only from citizens whose PRIMARY residence is within the district. This simple, yet dramatic revision, would amplify the voices of the citizens who reside in the respective districts, and restore the representative relationship between our elected officials and the citizens who reside in their areas of representation.

2. Eliminate PAC contributions.

3. Eliminate corporate contributions. Corporations are profit-making entities whose by-laws mandate that they expend money only with the expectation of a return on that investment. Corporations, in spite of their public relations propaganda exist only to make money and are not, “corporate citizens.” Only People are citizens.

4. Cap the amount of contributions to the federal limit for an individual contribution.

Write to your Delegate and Senator and tell them that campaign finance reform will dramatically reduce corruption and will enhance the ability of the individual citizen to be heard. If they do not support reform, then work for a candidate in the next election who pledges to enact campaign finance reforms as enumerated above.
