There is a difference between bedrock values that unites us, and what jeff frederick stood for. In his perfect world we would all be ideologue clones that believed the same things and fell in lock step with him. What Bob is talking about is that we are all conservatives in one way or another. We might not all argee 100% on everything, but we agree 80/20 and we need to stop fighting eachother over that 20% we differ on. J-Fed failed miserably to understand that and almost cause a split in the party. He failed to understand that and thus was a bad leader. Leaders find common ground, compromise if necessary to keep their organizations together. Jeff Frederick failed in that respect on multiple levels. I dont think someone that thinks he did a good job is qualified to lead a large and dynamic organization like a DC.

Local gop said "After finding out he supported Jeff Frederick, he lost my support."

Jeff Frederick was hijacked from his sitting and elected chairmanship. The delegation for Jeff Frederick had their time and money stolen from them by the RPV.

Let's let the people choose. Should we prepare for another ousting IF Jim Rich doesn't legitimately win?

As an elected member of the 10th District State Central Committee and a Christian woman who has been a volunteer for the Republican Party since the age of 18, I can attest to the integrity/decency/and principled leadership of Howie Lind. He has helped many candidates get elected, and is constantly working to promote fairness and good leadership. Having Howie Lind as our 10th District Chair will be a blessing.

After finding out that he supported Jeff Frederick, he lost my support. Jim Rich might not run things 'fairly' (of course those in the minority typically complain that they're not being treated fairly) but at least he had sense enough to vote out the guy that tried to split the party in half.

Of course I'm not in the 10th so I dont get to vote either way :(

Gil Robb said <em>"he is still working for the Party that condones torture and the jailing of US Citizens, without charges or trial."</em>

This is an absolute lie and I am disappointed that no conservative has called him out this cheap shot so far.

That "Loudmouthed Inciter" AKA Jeff Wolinski is such a mindless myrmidon for Jim Rich is reason enough alone to consider Lind's candidacy. I no longer reside in the Tenth (it was moved out from under me), but being present at Jim Rich's smear of RPV Chairman Pat McSweeney and six years under his rule as 10th District Chairman is enough to convince me that he should not only be ousted as a District Chairman, but that he shouldn't be allowed in the company of decent and honest people.

For the decades that Howie Lind was serving our nation in the U.S. Navy, he developed a reputation as someone who always spoke the truth to those in power. He also was someone who both seniors and peers would go to when they needed clear, accurate assessments of solutions to the challenges that were ahead; whether discussing key staffing decisions or enterprise-wide system revisions, Howie Lind was always the Man who was relied upon for well reasoned advice.

When Howie Lind targeted his extensive experience to help the Republican Party of Virginia, he quickly became a force for re-energizing Party adherents and attracting throngs of young professionals into the ranks of supporters.

Howie Lind has always been a voice for fairness and honest campaigns; he and Men like him, are the best hope for the Republican side to be successful in a changing Virginia.

With Howie Lind's extensive record of integrity and fair dealing with competing factions, one can easily see why he is seen as such a threat to the backroom dealers of the, "old guard" and those who will sacrifice all of the Party's principles with the hope of clinging to power.

Howie Lind will move the Republican Party into the Twenty-first Century. It is time to move forward and it is well past time for a change of leadership in the Tenth District.

The Constitution of Virginia says:

Section 4. County and city officers.

There shall be elected by the qualified voters of each county and city a treasurer, a sheriff, an attorney for the Commonwealth, a clerk, who shall be clerk of the court in the office of which deeds are recorded, and a commissioner of revenue. The duties and compensation of such officers shall be prescribed by general law or special act.

Regular elections for such officers shall be held on Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Such officers shall take office on the first day of the following January unless otherwise provided by law and shall hold their respective offices for the term of four years, except that the clerk shall hold office for eight years.

The General Assembly may provide for county or city officers or methods of their selection, including permission for two or more units of government to share the officers required by this section, without regard to the provisions of this section, either (1) by general law to become effective in any county or city when submitted to the qualified voters thereof in an election held for such purpose and approved by a majority of those voting thereon in each such county or city, or (2) by special act upon the request, made after such an election, of each county or city affected. No such law shall reduce the term of any person holding an office at the time the election is held. A county or city not required to have or to elect such officers prior to the effective date of this Constitution shall not be so required by this section.

The General Assembly may provide by general law or special act for additional officers and for the terms of their office.

Counties may or may not have elected treasurers and commissioners of the revenue. It depends on the form of County Government is utilized, County Administrator or County Executive.

Yes, Counties do have treasurers, and it is an elected position until a referendum is passed to make it an appointed position. The same applies to cities.

Spotsylvania is one county that I know for a FACT has an elected treasurer. You can google "Larry K. Pritchett" and "SBE" to confirm that.

I served with Howie Lind and you will not find a more decent fellow. It is a shame that he is still working for the Party that condones torture and the jailing of US Citizens, without charges or trial.

However, here in Virginia, most of us still try to maintain a sense of civility among the partisan factions, regardless of the atrocities committed by the former regime, or real or perceived affronts made by the current HNIC.

As a Democrat, I would enjoy competing with the Republican side led by Howie Lind as Tenth District Chairman. I believe that contests, both inside the Party and in general elections will be fought fairly and contested on the issues. Howie will be especially effective in recruiting quality candidates, something the Republicans sorely need right now.

With some luck, Howie will come to his senses and realize that the Republican Party is merely a function of the multinational corporations, whose purpose is to make Americans corporate serfs; but until then, it will be helpful to at least have a few honest men like Howie in a leadership role with the Virginia subsidiary of the corporate-owned Republican Party.

"County Treasurers"--Counties dont have treasurers, only cities have that elected position. Except Arlington which isnt technically a city or county, it has a hybrid charter.

Its just a technicality but i think its important to know what you're talking about when running for office.

And counties dont have councils either, they have Boards of Supervisors, which are already mentioned.

Again, technicality but precision is necessary.
