Nice to see that the 10th Congressional District will be in better hands than the 11th - Howie Lind is a great leader and will be in great shape to take over the Fairfax County Republican Committee after bone-head Anthony "Tony" Bedell gets s-canned for backing that weak-sister Pat Herrity for the Republican nomination for Congress. Go get 'em, Howie, and great work, Ken, for coming out for the right man! Now, how about standing up for Keith Fimian?

Sanford, he'd better. He's fine as AG. If he violates a Gentleman's Agreement and runs against Bolling in 2013, there is a truckload of stuff that can come out. I'm a team player , and all...but I like true character first.

Its a mute point now, but if thats not in dispute, and thats the chief job of a DC, then why all the banter to remove him??

"Jim Rich himself said that it’s not the chair that wins elections, it’s the candidate."

Really?? No sh**......

Of course he said that...did you really expect him to say "I deserve credit for Wolf being elected over and over and over and over again??"

If you are going to ATTACK the chair for failed elections, then you must give CREDIT for successful elections.

That is, unless you are not being 'fair' the exact thing you (BVBL) was trashing him for earlier...do as i say not as i do is a bad policy.

I think Wolf has done well despite Jim Rich, not because of Jim Rich. Rich has alienated a wide swath of the grass-roots base that have had any dealings with him leaving the 10th CD a hollow shell of what if could be. It does nothing, because it has no resources.

We've had unit, CD and state leaders before who have cause fractures within their party organizations. Too many of them. What we need more of are the kinds of unit, CD and RPV leaders who work hard, maintain a process with fairness, integrity and openness as a hallmark, and follow in the footsteps of people like Pat Mullins, Lyle Beefelt, and a number of others who have healed internal divisions quickly and moved forward with a strong and unified organization.

All of those folks picked up the pieces after internal division was rampant and have done a fantastic job. We could really use that in the 10th. I'd love to see the kind of rebirth in the 10th CD that we recently saw in RPV, and I'm saying that as someone who is a die-hard Jeff Frederick supporter who nevertheless sees and appreciates the tremendous job Pat Mullins is doing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt the CHIEF job of a CD Chair to support the GOP nominee for Congress and get them elected? Hasn't Jim Rich done that? Shouldn't the CD Chair have a good working relationship with the Congressman or nominee?

Aside from "he's not a 'fair' leader (which frankly is in the eye of the beholder)" what reason is there to remove Jim Rich? You cant really blame him for losing county elections...thats the county committee's job to deal with and the county committee should be blamed if anyone. No one in the 11th blames Becky Stoeckel for losses on the county level, or even at the Congressional level. So thats not really a legitimate reason to remove him.

Frank Wolf likes him, apparently confides in him, and has been the Congressman for many years now with no sign of being removed. Doesn't Jim Rich get credit for that? If you're going to blame him for losses then you must give him credit for wins. To my knowledge, he deserves only credit for winning and none for losing, as Wolf is still the Congressman.

And why Howie Lind? Isnt he the guy that missed more RPV SCC meetings than he attended? Not an impressive track record for someone wanting to be promoted.

Cuccinelli sticking his nose in petty CD politics, there a shocker....wonder what McDonnell & Bolling think?

This isn't about slamming the former chairman. We should all express our thanks for those who have served in such difficult positions.

The fact simply is that it is time for a fresh approach and Howie Lind is perfect fit for this job at this point in history.

Critics who will see this endorsement and say that Mr. Lind will promote more evangelical "right-wing nut-jobs" like Cuccinelli, are wrong.

Howie Lind will be good for the Republican Party and good for Virginia. Citizens will like the change in leadership of the Tenth District.

Once again Ken Cuccinelli demonstrates his impressive political skills. This is a no lose situation for him.

If Lind wins, Cuccinelli will be associated with that victory and his support of it. If Lind loses, Cuccinelli is credited with having made the effort on behalf of purity and virtue.

Either way he endears himself with his far right base. Cementing his credibility with the far right wing further enables him to run a more centrist appearing campaign for governor in 2013 with little downside with the right wing (as McDonnell did in 2009).

Cuccinelli is one of the shrewdest politicians to come down the pike in a long time. I have to believe that if he wins the governorship in 2013 he will be discussed as a potential 2016 presidential candidate.
